Many of you have probably heard of “Seasonal Affective Disorder.”
It is a condition in which the lack of sunlight, often during winter months, can affect our moods and ability to cope effectively.
Millions of people suffer from some sort of anxiety or depression disorder.
If you personally do not, chances are you are close to someone who does.
For the next few weeks, we are going to talk about a condition called “Spiritual Affective Disorder.”
For some people, the uncertainty and pace of life can keep us from the spiritual and emotional well-being God desires.
But instead of focusing on typical spiritual practices as an antidote, we will focus on how everyday life activities can become spiritual practices—deepening our experience of a meaningful life and helping us shine a light on the “blahs.”
What we are going to look at through the lens of God’s Word can benefit everyone, no matter where you are in your life mentally, physically, or spiritually.

It’s hard to tell what to trust and what to doubt.
Doubt has become a common occurrence for many of us within our culture today.
There are people that we know who have failed us, and it causes us to doubt.
There is so much false information shared online that it may cause us to doubt everything.
This past season of Covid-19 has caused many to doubt because we wonder where God is in the middle of it.
Seeing a world that is full of hurt and pain makes us doubt whether God is indeed good.
People doubt for all kinds of reasons.
I would argue that the problem is not the doubt itself, but rather, how we handle our doubt.
Mishandled skepticism often results in a lack of hope.

If you have ever read through some of the stories of the prophets in the Bible, you understand that the prophets were often charged to deliver difficult messages from God to the people. For most people, delivering difficult news is not an easy task. I think of Jonah… he actually ran away and tried not to do what God had directly told him to do. Maybe because often people don’t respond just to the message; they also respond to the messenger. As the saying goes, ‘Don’t shoot the messenger.”
In today’s story, Ezekiel is given specific instructions to deliver a message to a difficult audience.
The people of Israel had been in rebellion, and this is just the latest round in the ongoing saga between God and God’s people.

Most Christians have a tendency to see themselves either as worse than they really are or as better than they really are. You do not often find a person who has found a good balance within themselves to see themselves the way God sees them. We cannot conform to the patterns of this world, because these patterns cause friction within us. We cannot think of ourselves more highly than we ought, because it leads to friction. We must allow our minds to be renewed and refreshed by the spirit of God. We must have a sober self-assessment so we can live from our truest selves and live our lives to the fullest.

Let’s face it, treating your spouse with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience does not happen by accident. These attitudes must be put on, like putting on a coat. When couples learn to love each other in this kind of way then Jesus Christ is made evident to people around them.

During challenging times, individuals within families have a tendency to turn inward and focus on themselves rather than focusing on those around them. However, strong families are committed to having the same mindset as Christ when they face trying times. Friction comes when each person approaches the other with a selfish attitude. The fact is that to avoid friction, each person must make the conscious decision to put others first and to serve them above themselves. It is about choosing to be sacrificial rather than selfish, and that choice brings peace.
