In this episode Jenn and Ingrid talk about bodies and how women are subjected to unsolicited advice from rude tias, runner friends and wannabe nutritionists. They share their experiences with body policing from their elders and what they did to stand up for themselves. Camila Cabello recently highlighted this issue as her body was publicly picked apart and criticized after she was seen running through a park (minding her DAMN business).

In this episode Jenn and Ingrid explore how colorism and anti-black sentiments are pervasive in Latino culture, language and media. In response to SoHo Karen’s incorrect assertion that she couldn’t be racist because she was Latina, the episode focuses on discussing how colorism presents itself in Latino households and how often Latinos celebrate European heritage but erase or ignore heritage that traces back to Africa. The hosts discuss some of the instances of colorism that they have witnessed, including how black and brown people are depicted in telenovelas and biases and stereotypes held by family members against black and brown people. Ingrid also reflects on watching the documentary Jamaica y Tamarindo and learning about Mexican Afrodescendientes.

Happy New Year, Tribe! Every new year brings thoughts new beginnings and new goals. Ingrid and Jenn take a step back to reflect on the events of 2020 and the lessons that this "unprecedented" year has taught them.
