Welcome back for another episode of “From the Heart”! Thank you so much for listening!
The Year of Mercy kicks off today! In this episode we will be praying the the divine mercy chaplet. Bishop invites you to join him in praying for an outpouring of God's mercy upon the people of our diocese.
Prayed on ordinary rosary beads, The Chaplet of The Divine Mercy is an intercessory prayer that extends the offering of the Eucharist, so it is especially appropriate to pray it after having received Holy Communion at Holy Mass. It may be said at any time, but our Lord specifically told St. Faustina to recite it during the nine days before the Feast of Mercy (the first Sunday after Easter). He then added: “By this Novena, [of Chaplets] I will grant every possible grace to souls.”

To learn more about Value Them Both click here
"Human life is sacred because from its beginning it involves the creative action of God and it remains for ever in a special relationship with the Creator, who is its sole end. God alone is the Lord of life from its beginning until its end: no one can under any circumstance claim for himself the right directly to destroy an innocent human being."
- 2258 Catechism of the Catholic Church
Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person - among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life.
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you.
My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately wrought in the depths of the earth.
- 2270 Catechism of the Catholic Church

Prayer for the Return of Non-Practicing Catholics: O Good Shepherd, you never cease to seek out the lost, to call home the stray, to comfort the frightened and to build up the wounded. I ask you to bring them back to the practice of the faith and to remove all obstacles that prevent them from receiving your abundant mercy, which flows sacramentally through the heart of your holy Church. Through the intercession of Mary, the Mother of God, St. Joseph, their Guardian Angels, their patron saints and the ever prayerful St. Monica, may you pardon their sins and unshackle them from whatever hinders their freedom to come home. For you, O Good Shepherd, have loved us to the end and offered yourself to the Father for the salvation of all. Amen!

In today's episode Bishop discusses "The Two Josephs". Joseph of the Old Testament is the first Joseph. The Church refers to him as a type, or foreshadowing, of Christ. But many saints hold that the first Joseph is also a prefigurement for St. Joseph. This podcast will briefly touch on ten parallels between Joseph of the Old Testament and St. Joseph.
Just like Bishop Vincke mentioned in the podcast, you can read more about these parallels written by Fr. Francis J. Peffley here.
