Fellow Dan Patrick School of Sportscasting Student and Boston fan Jared Ward (@JayDubSports) joins the Tozzcast to talk about all things Yankees/Red Sox. We discuss Alex Cora being a major factor in the Sox turnaround as well as the decent pitching they’ve gotten and what JD/Devers/Xander do for that lineup. I spend a lot of time complaining about the Yankee lineup and give my take on what players I’d consider selling at the deadline even though they would never do it. Yanks are only 4.5 back but I’m not really sold on this bunch despite how well they’ve pitched.
We snuck in a nearly two-hour podcast on NFL Draft Eve. Gorn and DPH are big time Jets fans and we do spend quite a bit of time talking Sam Darnold, Zach Wilson, and the first three picks. However if you like to get down to the nitty gritty, this is a fun pre-draft podcast. We go over many possibilities, who teams are, what teams need, among current NFL scuttlebutt.
My brother Luke joined the Tozzcast mid-game to discuss early season Yankees vibes. The Yanks are in position to win tonight, however there has been concerning issues that we’ve seen from this team dating back to last season. Low energy, not hitting with runners in scoring position, baserunning errors, double plays, bad defense, and the Yanks are last in MLB when it comes to team OPS (.642.) In classic “mush” fashion, we hope this podcast may be the one that propels this team back to life.
