Most podcast tutorials want to tell you the 7 steps or a very generic take on growing your podcast. Many podcasters want to get to a monetized position. During June 2024 I want us to discuss some alternative topics for growth, brainstorming some ideas so that we can be well-rounded and not just following the general path.
Check out older episodes as well. Spotify podcasting has changed greatly since 2020 and now in 2024 it can benefit us all to even look back at the past. So check out those older episodes as well and see how podcasting has changed! No longer are the days when we can just launch a couple eps and get monetized instantly! Unfortunately, there is more competition, and the world began to rely on digital. So we have to change with the competition, learn, do, practice, and update our skills.
Learning to Podcast on Spotify (My Strategy for June 2024)
This episode will cover my notes of monetization and strategy. Bear with me as I am learning as I go. I am attempting to get more organized. Here I discuss my experiences on growing a separate podcast (Not my experiences on growing Game and Compute). I look at analytics and talk about some past experiences of paying for promotion as well as organic traffic.
Follow up episodes will include details about any progress, fine tuning strategies based on analytics, and if there have been any improvements toward monetization.

Last time we discussed the importance of tracking profits. Now you will be able to view a layout of how that looks. Track your expenses!
This episode discusses the minimum of what to consider when tracking your expenses. This will help you to verify that your e-commerce gig is profitable.
Once you have some profits coming in, you will need to have a plan for those funds. The funds may get recycled back into your future expenses such as any upcoming subscriptions needed to keep your store running. Or you can invest in more inventory, or shipping costs, or other fees.
We will eventually discuss planning. Once you have been able to dive into a pilot study from start to finish, you can consider larger planning and perhaps create a larger budget. You will be able to predict potential profits.
Remember that e-commerce can be fleeting. Things change! China may stop shipping on time. Or if there is a lock down there may be unexpected impacts. Products become obsolete. Or some major brand might release a new product impacting your sales.
Keeping things low and slow is one of the best methods to avoid losing tons and tons of money all at once. Stay patient. AND DON'T FORGET, YOUR TIME IS MONEY, SO FACTOR THAT INTO THE COSTS IF YOU CAN.

How are you with e-commerce? Most importantly, do you know how to make money? We will continue this e-commerce discussion. This is not any attempt to get rich quick BUT you can supplement your income and get to a place of saving, building, and even outsourcing your work.
People who are gurus online making hundreds of thousands OR millions OFTEN HAVE MONEY TO INVEST IN ADVERTISING! Note- they do not often explain their revenue in detail. They do not often show profits, and they do not usually share advertising methodologies. When you see this, ask yourself:
- What is the e-commerce content creator avoiding?
- How much did they make in profit?
- How much did they spend on advertising and traffic?
If I told you I made $4000 in one day (revenue), you will need to know what my overhead was: how much is my subscription to keep my e-commerce store open? How much are product costs? What are the shipping times? How much to ship to the store? How much to ship from the store? What fees do the payment gateway and the e-commerce platform take away?

Uber Eats Pro Card, while it states it is free, the statement is misleading.
The card is free to directly load from your Uber earnings on to the Uber Pro Card.
But it is not free to transfer funds to an alternative account. In fact, it is very expensive, costing $2.99 per transfer. That means if you transfer money once a day for an entire month. you are losing nearly $90 per month to transfer your funds!

It’s time consuming and nowadays more than ever there is more competition. Ever since the rona digital boom, content creators are finding it hard to start on a new platform or with a new niche or channel. Check out these tips mentioned in this episode. It’ll get you started. TASK: a simple task is choosing a niche, and second to that, attempt to spread out your episodes; create one per day for 30 days. Note- many platforms don’t update immediately! The monetization process can be both a pain in the you-know-what, as well as a blessing in disguise. Do you know what you are selling? Are you familiar with platform best practices? Which platform or platforms will best suit you?
TASK: It takes time, draft out at least one week's worth of posts for content. Make sure you allow for social media platforms (ie TikTok, Instagram, etc.) to seed for about 1/2 a week to 1 week. Before posting, engage on the platform. Watch content, subscribe and follow other content creators, comment. Then post your own content after a few days. This way your site won't be cold. Daily June 27, 2023 (anxiety + insomnia = GO EXERCISE). Notes: from my fitness watch app I found that Sat 6/24/23 I walked a total of 1.5 miles in 25 mins for my total exercise of the day. So no, I won’t count that as it was not consecutive and this was between 2pm-5:30pm. But I was outside a lot of that time!

After one week of the initial account optimization steps, I reflect on the main important goals: TRAFFIC & QUALITY OF AFFILIATE PRODUCT. I make up some fictitious example of a fake product that we are pretending to be an affiliate for, and talk about strategies of how we plan to optimize accounts on different platforms where we will promote our affiliate links. This is in hopes to have some of the traffic click through and want or need our product, and use our affiliate link to purchase the product for this needs and in turn we obtain a commission. I’m having fun with the project. And it’s late and I’m rambling but hey, I like to have fun if I’m going to be up anyways! But these are the majority of steps I’ve taken over one week. And also some other ideas that weren’t mentioned in the tutorial I am following.

After 1 year I have increased my credit score by 50 points using this card and in addition to paying off a student loan.
