Hi, and welcome to Talk about Pain, a podcast for people with stubborn or chronic pain who are looking for answers. I’m Rick Olderman, physical therapist for about 25 years, hanna somatics practitioner, pilates instructor, personal trainer, author and sports and orthopedic physical therapy clinic owner. I specialize in helping people with difficult pain problems. On this podcast, I’m not interested in recycling old outdated material. I want to introduce fresh ideas that likely aren’t widely known, a lot of them my own, but also from other health or wellness practitioners who are in the trenches doing the work of really helping people. It’s straightforward talk about pain, what works and what doesn’t. We get to the point here, which is to help you with your pain. Please subscribe to my podcast. And if there’s something you’d like to talk about or someone you’d like me to chat with who’s helped you, drop me a line. Chances are it’ll help others too.
Many people wonder which exercises will solve their pain. In this episode, I offer my technique for figuring this out. I also delve into an interesting phenomenon where people seem to stop doing the things that help them and even forget what helped them. See my take on this!

A stroke involves a disruption to brain centers which control movement. Until now very little was available to help restore function to limbs of people who have experienced a stroke. I’m very excited to present this episode featuring new research involving a dramatic leap forward in this field! It features a recent article in Nature Medicine—

I recently took Lynn Schulte's course on postpartum pelvic rehab and she was amazing! Her approach is intuitive, simple and effective. If you're a woman with any kind of pelvic pain or a practitioner looking to fortify a weak point in your treatment of pelvic pain conditions, as I was, I strongly recommend you listen Lynn's pioneering approach to solving these problems.
Lynn Schulte is a Women’s Health Physical Therapist for over 30 years and the founder of the Institute for Birth Healing. She has been helping moms heal from all the issues women experience after birth and is now teaching courses to body workers to help them do the same. She found a common birth pattern that shows up in the pelvis after birth and knows how to effectively release these patterns. Knowing we are more than just our bodies, Lynn works on all levels, physically, energetically, and spiritually with women to help them access their full potential. She also teaches bodyworkers how to work with the energy of the body and how to access and use your intuition in your bodywork sessions. She offers a certification process to help birth professionals become Birth Healing Specialists. Lynn holds a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from St. Louis University, St. Louis Missouri. A true teacher, Lynn continues to supplement her professional experience with training to complement and update her practice. I interview master therapist, Jeremy Quinby, who has been an Integrative Health Specialist for nearly 25 years. In 2014 he became involved in numerous projects across the country exploring better care delivery, vetted local health networks, and the development of a health improvement system as an alternative to our current system of managing care. The Highway to Health Podcast was born out of this, an extension to his 20 year career helping individuals and families become healthier in their day to day lives. His intention, which will be more clear after listening, is to broaden the view of what we call health, to educate, and to encourage all of us to build a healthier, more connected world around ourselves.
