The Puddle
The NFL Puddle gives a unique breakdown of the NFL. Not overly qualified, these two enthusiastic British podcast amateurs give you their take on the NFL. A lighthearted look at the NFL by two British guys trying to work out what's going on with football that isn't soccer. Their understanding isn't deep, but it's refreshing and may just give you a different view of an entertaining and exciting sport. From draft to fantasy, it all gets discussed and nothing is sacred as we watch with interest from across the pond.
It's been a long off season and the boys couldn't wait to get back together to discuss the crazy June trades that have both stunned the league and answered some questions that we've all been waiting to know the answer to.
Ralf and Rob got back to the usual features and chose their Pick 6 of best games for the 2026 season.
Two Seahawks games bookend the season and two international matches shine, with particular personal interests being fulfilled.
Then the boys slide effortlessly into the two big trades that split the cap hit on June 1st.
Finishing off the pod the boys talk about their favourite position with Tight End Appreciation, or TEA Time as they like to call it. Mrs Miggins revived the cups and saucers, but there wasn't any time for any biscuits quite yet.

After a short break in the pod, the boys are back together to talk about the 2026 NFL Draft from Pittsburgh.
Ralf and Rob discussed draft strategy and the best analysis from the leagues best analysts.
Teams prioritized positional depth and developmental quarterback prospects like those selected by the Rams and Jets. Analysts concluded the draft was marked by heavy investment in tight ends and strategic roster building. There were runs on wide receivers and distinct lack of depth in running backs.
The Pittsburgh Steelers bungled the ball, and already we're missing Mike Tomlin.
The LA Rams took a grilling for their early QB pick and the weird dynamic after day 1 press huddle. Was there more to this story than we initially thought?
The draft highlighted the rising popularity of the 13 formation and a significant run on tight ends early. Teams continue to find value in later rounds for developmental projects and specific scheme fits.

Trying to get their heads around the NFL combine and what the heck just happened in Free Agency, our pals got together to talk it out on Friday 13th March.
Ralf's NFL Combine review featured top wide receivers, running backs, tight ends, defensive backs, edge rusher performances, and his pick of the great players flying under the radar.
The NFL Combine saw a historically fast year for wide receivers and running backs, with Brennan Thomas running the fastest 40-yard dash at 4.26, and Kenyon Sadiq setting a tight end record with a 4.39 40-yard dash. Wide receivers Skyler Bell, Evan Coleman, and Aiden Wetchin were cited for having the best all-around workouts, showcasing great athleticism.
Rob's Free Agency Run Down
Quarterback movement included Tua Tagovailoa's expensive contract with the Dolphins and Malik Willis's move to the team, raising concerns about scheme fit and franchise culture. Geno Smith returned to the Jets, while prominent quarterbacks like Kirk Cousins and Kyler Murray remained without a franchise.
Free Agency Trade Bull Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!
The proposed Max Crosby trade to the Ravens for 2 first-round picks collapsed over medicals, leading the Raiders to sign center Tyler Linderbaum for $81 million to protect the young quarterback. Does anyone believe the Ravens, will this come back to bite them in the butt?
The boys also discussed Bengals' surprising inactivity in free agency, despite defensive weaknesses, forces them to now address parity in the upcoming draft.

Battered, beaten and bruised by the Dark Side, Ralf and Rob recorded their Super Bowl pod on Tuesday 10th February.
The boys analysed the Seattle Seahawks' Super Bowl victory over the New England Patriots, praising the Seahawks' defensive performance led by Mike McDonald, the record-breaking six field goals from kicker Jason Myers, and the consistent excellence of their special teams.
They gave flowers to Sam Darnold's elevated performance and the outstanding individual efforts of Kenneth Walker, who won the MVP, and Patriots' Christian Gonzalez, whilst also celebrating Aden Derde as the first British coach to win a Super Bowl ring
They also recapped the NFL awards, including their correct predictions for Matthew Stafford (MVP) and Miles Garrett (Defensive Player of the Season), discussed the delayed Hall of Fame induction of Bill Belichick, and prepared for the upcoming NFL offseason events, including the Combine, Draft, and nine international games.
They're already getting excited for the offseason games and the chance to head to Paris instead of Dublin for the Saints French fantasy.

Recorded on a weirdly quiet Sunday 1st February, no games being played, no Pro Bowl to fill up the air time. Just 2 guys talking about the Championship Games, Coaching Carousel and NFL Awards.
Rob and Ralf discussed the NFL Pro Bowl format, suggesting opportunities for global advertising and comparing it to the NBA All-Star game.
They tried to analyse the LA Rams' playoff loss to the Seattle Seahawks, attributing it to a muffed punt and consummate Seahawks play.

Recorded on Tuesday 20th January, Just when the boys thought they couldn't be more surprised by the NFL, it all goes off in Buffalo.
Rob and Ralf discussed the NFL wild card weekend, noting a lack of upsets, with Rob specifically criticizing a controversial interception call in the Bills Broncos game that ultimately decided the outcome, which led to the surprise termination of Bills Head Coach Sean McDermott. This blew their tiny little podcasting minds. Nobody is safe. Zac Taylor must be sleeping with the lights on. He's last man standing in the AFC North.

Reflecting on the past NFL season, particularly the unpredictability of Week 18, before moving to the surprising number of nine new coaching opportunities, including the late sackings of Mike Tomlin at the Steelers and John Harbaugh at the Ravens.
Rob and Ralf speculated on potential destinations for available coaches, with Ralf suggesting Mike McDaniels could become the offensive coordinator for the Chiefs and proposing Mike Tomlin as an ideal fit to change the culture at the Miami Dolphins, while Rob Deacon noted the unique value of "hot head coaches" like Tomlin and Harbaugh being available. Lets' not forget 2 x HC of the Year Kevin Stefanski, where will he go to create new culture? Could it be Atlanta?

We've seen the unraveling of the Ravens, Cardinals and Bengals. The Raiders, Jets and Titans just never looked like they were there.
