I started this podcast back in 2010. One of my original ones is with Summer Rayne Oakes. As I reported on my interview, Summer graduated from Cornell University. For she is an entomologist and environmental scientist by training.
In 2000 in the midst of her studies, Oakes embarked on a journey of cause-related modeling and innovative sustainable design/development projects to push sustainability issues through fashion and media, a position which earned her the name of “The Eco-Model ” [1 ][2 ][3 ][4 ][5 ]. In addition to this, Summer Rayne is now a spokesperson, resident expert, and youngest Board of Advisors for Planet Green , Discovery Network’s new eco-lifestyle network that launched June 4, 2008 to 50 million households.
Oakes grew up in rural Pennsylvania, where her concern for the environment began early. She studied ecology in college, where she noticed that scientific papers on the environment received much less attention than popular media. She became a model in New York City, and insisted on only modeling clothing made from organic or recycled materials. These principles cost her work, but gained her notice and the title of world's first "eco-model".

Since the announcement of cutting down the Elder Oaks of Notre Dame a reinvigorated environmental movement has begun. To saving and reforestation. Also to not destroy carbon sequestration of trees that can live thousands of years.
We have Save the Oak Trees leaders Odilia Galvan Rodriguez and Will Hale.
According to the website:
We are a far-flung community stretching coast to coast, united in our love of the Earth, and our desire to protect the ancient Oaks who provide food, shelter, habitat, and sanctuary to those who live in, on, and around them.
After reading “France on hunt for centuries-old oaks to rebuild spire of Notre Dame” (The Guardian, February 16) Chris Eagle approached Sharon Simone to express his distress that these Oak elders were being “hunted” and would be slain.
Immediately taken with the plight of the Oaks and seized by the urgency of their situation, they brought the matter to others in the community, who sat in council to consider how to meet it. Sharon likened the Oaks’ situation to “being on death row” and felt compelled to try to secure a “stay of execution” for the trees.
She reached out to Kristin, who from her own heartbreak, immediately wrote a letter to President Macron. The letter became the basis for a petition that has been circulating widely. Kjersten Gmeiner, MD, secured the services of web maven KatieMarie, who created this website overnight pro-bono. A generous philanthropist funded our upcoming video about the Oaks.

My friends! SAGE LAROCK offers a modern image of luxury - clothing that supports women feeling beautiful both inside and out. We create our clothing entirely from sustainable, recycled or organic materials, and produce ethically and locally, using non-toxic and plant based dyes.
SAGE LAROCK is committed to environmental and social excellence throughout every stage of production, utilizing high quality materials and ethical garment manufacturing. We use only sustainable fabrics such Oeko-Tex Standard certified Italian swim & activewear fabric, which is made from upcycled fishing nets recovered from the ocean rather than virgin polyester fabric, which is made from petroleum oil, is highly chemically intensive, and is the least sustainable fabric available.
By instead using upcycled fishing nets, we help keep our Ocean clean, marine life safe, create 80% less carbon emissions than regular swim & active fabric, and hope to create solutions to utilize the 640,000 tons (equivalent to 2 Empire State Buildings) of nylon fishing nets that are dumped in our Ocean every year. Also, we never use fabrics such as rayon or viscose that are often sourced from the world’s ancient and endangered forests.
