Music Takes Us Further is a partnership between Trippin and Tommy Jeans focused on making real change, not just talking about it. Each episode our host Joyty will be going on a journey across the world, speaking to artists who are using music to create real change in their local communities. From empowering women of colour to pursue creative avenues, to creating new jobs and building community recording studios, we hear how the partnership supported and elevated their activism.
Episode 4 of Music Takes Us Further takes us to Portland, Jamaica where Izzy has created the community project Fearless to find shelter for new creativity. We teamed up with Tommy Jeans to provide equipment and infrastructure for the local community and allow Izzy to continue her work out in Drapers.

Episode 3 of Music Takes Us Further takes us to India where we explore how boxout.fm is giving a voice to India's alternative music scene. We teamed up with Tommy Jeans to create new opportunities for our community, through recruiting 3 new Radio Jockeys.
It's more important now than ever to uplift the Indian community. During covid a lot of Indian producers started championing Indian sounds instead of promoting western sounds uplifting the community. Boxout.fm transcend the online airwaves to bring communities together through regular events that celebrate music and the spirit of togetherness.

Episode two of 'Music Takes Us Further' explores our partnership with Seoul Community Radio in a little more detail. We linked up with the independent underground radio station, to create a digital world celebrating 10 years of underground music without any boundaries, through music and club photography.
In light of the pandemic many of the institutions that have supported this subculture have been forced to close. On top of the global pandemic it has been an industry that has never gained the attention it deserved in Korea considering it is known on a global scale. They wanted to pay homage to suffering industry and raise awareness around Seoul’s underground electronic music scene.

Our host, Jyoty, chats to Sage on the cultural mosaic of NYC’s creative scene, the importance of creating space for women of colour in the creative world and investing in existing organisations as to not gentrify the activist space.
