Belshazzar’s feast in Daniel 5 ended in judgment, but Christ invites us to a different table—the Lord’s Table—where bread and cup bring forgiveness, mercy, and hope through the Spirit.
In Daniel 4 we see the incredible reach of God to change a heart that is fickle and uninterested in others. We see a king move from insane selfishness and arrogance, to humble worship of God. If our God can do this, there is no one out of his incredible reach and power to change a heart. What does this encouraging truth mean for us? Daniel 3
In a week of fear and uncertainty, Daniel 2 reminds us that kingdoms rise and fall, but God’s kingdom endures forever. When violence and dread shake us, we learn from Daniel to stay calm, seek community, and cry out to God in prayer. The stone that topples empires is Christ himself—our hope and our help in troubled times.
In Daniel 1 we see that God calls His people to live as faithful exiles—resisting sinful desires, holding fast to godly character, and bearing witness through lives that reveal His Spirit, even in a hostile culture.

Christian teaching has tended to view the human soul as good, and the body as bad and an obstacle to Christian growth. In 1 Corinthians 6 a different vision for the body is presented- as a new temple, holy and sanctified, and the new dwelling place of God.
Nikki reminds how God exhibits kindness toward humanity from the very beginning. The Cross becomes His ultimate moment of kindness as He endured pain and suffering all to draw us to Himself.

Nothing is as effective as a "sneak attack." Scripture has a repeated message about the life we currently live: We are engaged in a spiritual battle so BE READY! This battle includes demonic purposes, power and presence. How do we "Resist the Devil" and "Stand Firm" as we follow Jesus together? How do we claim our authority in Christ and break strongholds and signature sins? In short, how do we reclaim the freedom that Jesus has given us? Then the gift of healing is often experienced as the "frustrating gift." For we believe in healing. We are called to pray for healing. And yet, we don't control healing. Pastor Garrick continued our The Strange Things of God teaching series by looking at the gift of tongues. This gift seems like the strangest gift the Holy Spirit could give. If we are honest, this gift often makes us nervous because either we lack experience with it, or it has been divisive or unfruitful within our church experience. And yet, scripture tells us to "Eagerly Desire" this often unfamiliar gift. So as we seek to be Boldly Biblical and Spirit Seeking, let's learn what this gift is, and how it can be used to edify both you and the church.
Dive into the doctrinal topic of how the Holy Spirit works in our lives. The Holy Spirit is not only always moving, but he is also always speaking to us. We can learn what God would have us do once we learn to hear God’s voice.
This week we kicked off a new series on the Holy Spirit's presence in our lives. The Holy Spirit empowers the followers of Jesus to both tell and demonstrate the gospel. However, we often ignore the Holy Spirit's empowering presence by setting aside certain gifts that seem unfamiliar and uncomfortable to us. Yet these are the very gifts that scripture commands us to seek. Join us as we consider new paths, through familiar passages, explaining unfamiliar gifts.
Lent is a time of reflection, repentance, and preparation leading up to Easter. It's a time for quiet contemplation and a reminder of our human frailty and need for God's grace.
Shawn wraps up our Romans 8 series looking at verses 31-39. Paul writes to encourage the church that regardless of what happens, the love of Christ is strong enough to hold them fast and get them through.

Pastor Shawn tackles a BIG text in Romans 8:31-35. Paul seeks to reassure that church that God’s love to them reaches beyond their life circumstances, and they are eternally and irrevocably loved by God.
Pastor Shawn leads us through Romans 8:28-30. Jesus told us that in this world, we will have trouble. His lasting promise to us, though, is that no matter the severity or intensity of our suffering, he has the ability to turn it to blessing.
Pastor Garrick voices our inner frustrations at times. We all know what it is like to have a problem drag on and on until we find ourselves weak and wordless. Weak with no energy left to try and no words left to fill our prayers. We are tired and prayed out.
Yet, it is precisely in these moments that the Holy Spirit provides us with hope and help. How? Listen with us as we receive encouragement through the Holy Spirit who is actively praying for us.
Shawn takes us through Romans 8:18-25 where the people in Rome were suffering, and Paul was looking to encourage them to endure by focusing not on the present pain, but the future glory of God. They key to experiencing that hope, though, was found only through the Holy Spirits inward work in them.
Dr. Jeannine Hanger unpacks Romans 8:14-17 and what it means to be a part of God's family as an adopted child. It is a great reminder and a good listen.
We continue our series in Romans 8 with verses 1-8. Paul says that the world is divided into two kinds of people: those who live for the flesh, and those who live for the Spirit. What does it mean, though, if I find I often look like both of these people?
As we begin our new series called Life in the Spirit, Shawn begins with a study of Romans 8 and shows how the Gospel brings freedom and life that the Old Testament law never could.

Joseph’s very comfortable life is interrupted by Mary’s shocking news that she is pregnant. In the discomfort of this twist in life, Jospeh becomes a part of the great redemption of God’s people. The great movements of God, in our life and in the world, are not achieved through greater personal comfort, but through God strengthened discomfort.
As we enter week 2 of our Advent Series, today's episode is to remind you that you are God's favored. You have his attention whenever you want it.
This week's sermon is the opening to the Advent Season. At the start of the Christmas narrative, Gabriel helps Zechariah to see the cosmic and personal plan that God will reveal through what is to come. This plan is both irresistible and good, and is announced in the Christmas story. We hope God meets you in a special way this year. Follow along as we reflect on what God did bringing the person of Jesus to earth.
Series Description: The nativity scene is filled with memorable figures. Mary and Joseph surround the infant Jesus, the three wise men bring gifts, there is usually one shepherd, and an assortment of animals. And last but not least, there is an angel somewhere near the rafters. But the angels are no afterthought in the Christmas story, but rather are the ones who move the story forward. They reveal the unfolding plan of God, announce God’s favor, comfort the terrified, help the powerless, and lead humanity in praise. They are constantly appearing because God is constantly moving in the lives of everyone involved. This Christmas, we invite you to join Coastline Covenant Church for our angel-focused advent series, Divine Intervention. Our hope is that their story would help you see and recognize the movement of God in your own life.

When people were grieving in the Bible, people knew it. They did not suffer quietly, but rather publicly displayed their grief by tearing their garments. This is so opposite of how we handle our emotions in the west, and although we are unlikely to tear our clothes, there are things we can learn and imitate which will deepen our relationship with God.

One of the most familiar postures in worship is kneeling, often beside a bed. Even though this posture is instantly recognizable, it is also something we do not often do. Why are we hesitant to kneel and worship, and what is lost when we do not, and gained when we do?
We hope that, even if you are listening, you will join in the posture. May the Holy Spirit meet you where you are and reward your efforts.
As we kickoff our new sermon series, Good Posture, we study two times in scripture where people pray with their hands spread out to God in surrender. Shawn shows us that this posture is used when our hands are full of things that need to be given to God, or when our hands are empty and we need the filling of God himself.

Psalm 146 gives us a warning and a reminder for remaining faithful during seasons of political intensity, reminding us that our trust is only ever secure when placed in him.

Often our suffering can make us feel isolated, alone and even distant from God but the truth is God promises his presence. By using his personal testimony, Garrick conveys the following Biblical truths about our suffering.
- Truth: We are never alone in our suffering!
- Truth: In our suffering and loss it is more productive to ask, what, and not why.
- Truth: Suffering and loss are not better, but they can be good.
- Truth: Our suffering and loss is a slow burn, not an explosion of power.
- Truth: Our suffering and loss creates barriers and bridges.

Family Theologian, Andrew Faris, is here today to continue our Resilient Faith series. Our calling, as Christians is to focus the core energy of our lives on living out our faith. While we often experience desires that compete with that, if our "spiritual eyes" are filled with a vision of the beauty of who God is, we'll be consistently drawn to him over the long term instead of to all the things that compete with faith.

We often find ourselves in their ranks. But faith is not about eliminating all doubt, but learning to move forward with the questions that we have.

Jesus teaches that our faith is a powerful resource for everyday life with God. Yet, like the disciples, we struggle to believe our faith impacts our world. How do we exert the power of our faith?

We often make faith fairly complicated and difficult, but the message of the gospel is very simple. If we simply believe and confess, we can be saved.

Faith is not something we begin, but that begins in us. Our faith is pioneered, authored, and founded by Christ. Since Christ has begun our faith, he will also perfect it.

Hebrews 11 is a call to well established Christians to take a deeper hold of faith. The faith that God desires is intellectual, relational, and passionate.
We often are confused about how we should approach the communion table. Should we come in joy, as to a feast, or come with reverence, considering the cost of our salvation? This Sunday, Shawn teaches that we should come and remember, we should come in awe, we should come slowly, and come together.

In Communion we affirm our participation in both the Cross of Christ and the Body of Christ. In this sermon we learn how we participate and the benefits of our participation. We also learn how our mutually shared benefits bind us together as one body making us willing to sacrifice for others.
1 Corinthians 10:14-17
Life has a way of knocking us off balance and disorienting us. Communion is God’s gracious gift to us, to reorient us through the pain and difficulties of life.
In our final week in Here and Now, we look at the final hours of the cross of Christ. Even surrounded by incredible hate and rejection, Jesus still offered grace to others. That experience of grace profoundly impacted both centurion and crowd and gives to us a model about reaching others who are profoundly different than us.
In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus is an example of honesty and authenticity for us to follow.
Pastor Garrick speaks on the gentleness of Jesus and encourages us to respond like Jesus to the world around us.
Jesus went out bringing the good news of the Kingdom, driven by compassion for the lost. In the same way of Christ’s mission, we too are SENT to live in the reality of the Kingdom and on mission together, stepping into divine Kingdom opportunities He provides wherever we work, live, and play.
Pastor Pat Stark talks about how the word “lost” shapes us. Both the Christian subculture and the dominant culture view lostness with a clear value-it’s not good! But how does God view lostness? How might his perspective reorient our own discipleship and disciple-making?
Using the story of Matthew’s calling, Hunter unpacks some practical tips on how we can extend hospitality in this cultural moment.
Jesus knew exactly what his life mission and vision for his life were. Our ability to minister to people, here and now, will be dramatically impacted if we can live by the same mission, and a clear understanding of the vision for our life.
Our world today is so busy and stressed, that we all live with a natural state of anxiety. The greatest witness we can have in times like this is resisting anxiety, and resting deeply in our relationship with our Heavenly Father.
In our final week of our Jonah series, we explore the parallels between Jonah and Jesus, and see how the calling to Ninevah is still relevant for you and I today.
The book of Jonah ends with a profound question that forces us to wrestle with our own hearts and how they align with God's heart toward others.
After failing to preach to Ninevah the first time, God calls Jonah again, sending him to his enemies. There, Jonah see’s God do the impossible, changing the hearts of the most wicked nation ever known. Join us as we see God do the improbable and impossible in Jonah’s, and our own.
In this week’s sermon, Shawn teach on the most memorable part of Jonah: his encounter with the fish. Although the fish is certainly God’s judgement upon Jonah, it is also his deliverance. For those who have hit a rock bottom, Jonah teaches us that it can also be the place of transformation and new life for us.
As Jonah flee’s from the presence and will of God, he is confronted by a supernatural storm. Jonah must accept that you cannot run from God, who firmly yet kindly pursues us.
This week we begin our new sermon series on Jonah. We will study the other places in scripture where he appears, and use it to create an understanding of who he is and why he so drastically says no to God. We will see that Jonah is not that different than us, and we can (and sometimes do) respond in similar ways when God does something new in our life.

Our series Surviving the South Bay ends by looking at two timeless commands from Jesus: the love God with our full self, and to honor the sabbath. Loving God with our whole heart is only possible when we allow sabbath to reorder our loves.
We continue in our series, Surviving the South Bay, as we consider those who might be affected by South Bay culture the most: our children. Although affluent children have incredible resources, they also live with tremendous pressure and show higher levels of anxiety, depression, and addiction. In our sermon this week, we will see that loving our kids best begins with the parents loving Jesus even more than they love their kids.
