Welcome to Faithful like Children, a podcast for Catholics of all ages. Here at FLC, our mission is to share the message of living the Christian life in a childlike posture and childlike faith. As beloved sons and daughters of the Father, it is an important part of the faith to live in such a way. After all, Saint John Paul II once said, "He has called you and chosen you to live in the freedom of the children of God." We all strive to become saints at some point. Why not start today?
In the Christian life, receptivity is essential to keep the relationship with God going. But, what does that look like? How does that relate to trust? What are the obstacles? What fruit does that bear? Today, Celie and Matt take on the meaning of being able to receive from the Father, in order to trust in Him more fully. There are two sides, or lungs, rather, to the Catholic Church- the East and the West. However, many people can have so many questions about this topic. What is the Eastern Church? What are the mysteries and prayers and beliefs like? How are they similar and different to each other? Why do negative assumptions of the two sides exist? Today, Celie and Chris dive into the beauty, history, traditions, and theology of the Eastern Catholic Church, more specifically the Byzantine rite. In addition they talk about their experiences with each other's rite in order to further demonstrate that the Church, as St. John Paul II states, "breathes through two lungs".

If there is anything to know about Christianity, it's that prayer is probably the single most important thing in a Christian's life. But, why exactly is it important? What kinds of prayer are there? Why would God, even though He knows all things, want to know our hearts during prayer? Today, Celie and Dorothy will talk all about prayer, its significance, and its purpose for living life with the posture of a child.

Today, Celie and Olivia will discuss everything on the topic of using our gifts for God's glory, so that we, as His sons and daughters, can participate more fully in the life He has called us to live.

With Holy Week fast approaching, it can be difficult to understand how to enter more deeply into the Lord's Passion. Two of the disciples, Peter and Judas, were both of Christ's followers and taught His teachings. Unfortunately, they both denied and betrayed Him. Today, Celie goes over the Passion parts of Mark's gospel and the visit to the apostles after the Resurrection in John's gospel to understand what made the outcomes of these two individuals. In the end, she discovers and teaches us that Peter showed humility in coming back to God by saying, "I love you", unlike Judas who looked toward himself and how he showed pride. She gives this so this Holy Week as we get closer and closer to Easter, we can all recognize the humility that we as children of the Father should portray, and that we all need to show a little less pride, and be a little more like Peter.
Confession: it's that one sacrament that everyone struggles with. Not only that, it can be the one that poses the most questions. What exactly is it? What is the process? How can you ease your nerves about it? What makes it so important? Today, Celie and Lucas will team up to talk a little bit more about this really important sacrament, and how sometimes being vulnerable will lead to having more of a childlike posture.
On August 15th, the Church celebrates the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the idea that our mother assumed into heaven, body, and soul, through the power of God working through her. But, how does having Mary as our mother relate to having a childlike posture? How can we, human beings who are imperfect, have a relationship with a person who was conceived without original sin? Today, join Celie and Sarah as they talk all about Momma Mary, and how can we have that relationship with her.
We all know the past year has been difficult to get together with people and be a part of a community. But, why is community important in the Catholic life? What are the benefits of being in a faith-based community? How can we be a part of something like this? In today’s episode, Celie and Trev will dive deep into the philosophies of Aristotle, the mystery of the Trinity, and 1 Corinthians 12:12 to truly understand the significance of being in communion as members of the Body of Christ.
In life, we often learn very valuable lessons. All of those that we are taught actually play a role in how to live in the best way. Today, Celie takes a dive into Mark 10:46-52, the story where Jesus heals the blind man Bartimaeus. Through that story, she discovered that oftentimes, we can be like the people in the crowd where we put others down. From what she learned, she shares this story in the hopes that we can understand our worth as children of God and realize to live a life as a part of the crowd is not the way we ought to live.
Every day, we come across challenging topics in our faith. So much so, that sometimes, we don't know how to answer these really troubling questions that people outside of the Church might have. For example, how can there be a God who is good when there is so much bad and evil in the world? In today's episode, Celie and Dylan dive into the question of whether or not does God exists(spoiler alert: He does). They will dive into the creation of the universe, the words of the prophet Isaiah, and the lives of the earliest saints and martyrs to prove this notion to be true.
As children of the Father, it's important that we trust Him with everything, including our dreams, hopes, desires, plans, and so much more. But, what exactly does it mean to trust in God? What makes it difficult to trust Him? What are some of the ways that we can trust Him with the deepest parts of our hearts? Today, Celie and Sarah will talk about everything there is to know about trusting in the Lord. Here, they will talk about Psalm 56:3 and the story of Saint Faustina, in honor of Divine Mercy Sunday, so that each and every one of us can confidently say, "Jesus, I trust in You."
Everyone says "God loves you", but what does that saying actually mean? How much does He really love me? What does His love mean to me? And if He loves us, why do we have so many laws we have to follow? Today, join Celie and Lucas, as they talk about what God's love actually means in the world today. Here, they will analyze passages from the gospel of Luke and the letter to the Romans, and chat about how we all can experience this everlasting love of God the Father in our lives right here, right now.
What does it mean to become like children? Does it mean to throw temper tantrums all over the place? Does it mean to be impatient whenever something doesn't go our way? Or does it mean something greater than all of that? Today, Celie, one of our hosts, will go over what it means to become like children, just as Matthew 18:3 tells us to be, and how to use our childlike faith and dependence to become lights of Christ that the world needs.
