Is Jesus just a great prophet and teacher to you? Or is He the Messiah worthy of your faith and faithfulness?
Giving the Lord a whole day is beyond most of us. What would our lives even look like without work and a busy schedule? But, the Lord has called us to a different way of living. Let us think about REST as part of God's design for our productivity, and not a measure of our faithfulness to him.
Psalm 127:1-2 (NIV)Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.2 In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food to eat— for he grants sleep to[a] those he loves.Psalm 127:1-2 (TLB) Unless the Lord builds a house, the builders’ work is useless. Unless the Lord protects a city, sentries do no good. 2 It is senseless for you to work so hard from early morning until late at night, fearing you will starve to death; for God wants his loved ones to get their proper rest.
Scripture readings: Genesis 49:14-15 and Matthew 11:28-30.Once we understand the Lord’s gentle and humble heart—once we experience his “pleasant” land, his Kingdom—it will be easy to decide to be yoked to him, to obey him, to bend our shoulders to the burden of the Cross.

Pray with me today and confess the love of God over your life. Here are the Scripture references for this prayer:
As of March 8, 2021, the Jamaica Constabulary Force has recorded 484 murders, 13 more than the same period in 2020. Just this week, I mourn with a kind and faithful mother and child of God who lost her adult son to gun violence. What is our response as people of faith to this kind of grief? We grieve with those who grieve, and give comfort as the wisdom of God shows us how. We also must cry out to God, lament the pain we feel and not keep it inside. Pray with me.
The mission of CRUSHED_ is to teach the importance of lament and provide space for its practice. The underscore at the end of CRUSHED_ represents the other side of lament: hope, renewed trust in the goodness of God and even joy.
