I close my eyes, relax as I listen to the Novena and try to focus on my heart or the center of my forehead (my third eye).

I am currently waiting for the results of a biopsy, shaken to my core, as always. As I listen to this Novena, I center my awareness on my heart—the seat of my soul, and, as I currently believe, the part of my body that connects me to the other side. Sometimes I move through my daily tasks or exercise while the Novena plays, but I always try to focus on my heart.
Speaking the Novena aloud alongside the recording brings me strength and a profound sense of safety.

Během poslouchání noveny cvičím nebo uklízím, ale vždy se snažím soustředit na své srdce. Odříkávání noveny nahlas spolu s nahrávkou mi dává sílu a pocit bezpečí.

What are we without the people around us? Can we always say the right thing? Do the right thing? Can we love unconditionally—and be loved in return? We can strive.

When you’re in pain, when you’re terrified, the last thing you think about is your kindness.
In the weeks leading up to my diagnosis, I sensed something was wrong, but not with my body. I knew I needed to become less judgmental, more patient, more kind. Then the diagnosis came—horrific, life-altering—and for weeks I was nothing but a ball of fear.
Eventually, the realization came: if I wanted to heal my body, I had to begin by healing my mind and soul.
Am I the kindest person I know? No.
Could I be more patient at times? Yes.
But I am not the same woman I was four years ago—or even a year ago. Or five months ago.
I pray for the gift of kindness and patience, because at the end of it all, nothing else matters.
