In today’s conversation, I’m joined by my friend Lyndsey Mimnagh, founder of Treehouse Schoolhouse. Lyndsey’s work is devoted to helping families grow in home education through seasonal rhythms, literature, biblical truth, and intentional connection. Her approach invites mothers to slow down and let their homes become places of belonging, discipleship, and legacy.

Together, we talk about what it means to see home (homemaking, homeschooling, and homekeeping) as a vocation - why it matters, how it shapes generations, and how to embrace rhythms of belonging with confidence and grace.

What You’ll Hear in This Episode:

  • Why homemaking is ultimately about creating a culture of belonging for our children.
  • Gentle beginnings in early education and sparking lifelong wonder, not burnout.
  • The power of simple family traditions in grounding home life.
  • Homemaking and homeschooling as a vocation - not just something to “squeeze in.”
  • Why presence with our children matters more than productivity or perfection.
  • Practical ways to anchor your family in seasonal rhythms and a shared vision.

Resources Mentioned:

  • Treehouse Schoolhouse – seasonal curriculum, planners, and resources
  • Discount code: HomemakersClub15 for 15% (One use per customer. Cannot be combined with other promos.)

Lyndsey reminds us that our homes tell a story - one that will echo into the hearts of our children and, by God’s grace, flow into generations to come. Whether through books, meals, or quiet daily rhythms, every intentional act is a seed planted in love.

Today I’m joined by my friend Courtney Moody, wife, mama, homemaker, and the heart behind Acts of Sourdough. What began with curiosity (and a willingness to laugh at the flops) has grown into a family business that equips homemakers with simple tools, sourdough classes, and everyday encouragement. We talk about choosing home in a noisy world, finding peace in organization over perfection, tending real rhythms in the kitchen, and serving others with the work of our hands.

What You’ll Hear in This Episode:

  • Courtney’s leap of faith from restaurant life to full-time homemaking—and how it reshaped their family’s days.
  • Letting go of perfection in busy seasons and choosing peace over pristine.
  • Embracing experimentation, vulnerability, and progress in sourdough (and all of homemaking)
  • The Story of Acts of Sourdough
  • Staying anchored in prayer when calling goes against the grain.
  • Family business & boundaries
  • Using food to bless neighbors, support special needs, and steady family rhythms.

Resources Mentioned:

  • Acts of Sourdough (tools, classes, and encouragement)
  • Scripture: "They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts." Acts 2:46 (the heart behind “Acts of Sourdough”)

Courtney reminds us that tending dough is a picture of tending home: ordinary, repeatable steps that, over time, feed the people we love and shape a culture of gratitude, service, and joy. And that even one small rhythm, a made bed, a pot of soup, or bread shared with a neighbor can steady the whole house.

Today I’m joined by my friend Katherine McDowell, a fellow homemaker, mother, and our very own in-house librarian who hosts our beloved Homemakers Literary Society. We talk about what it looks like to turn inward as autumn begins: crafting a home of belonging, marking the seasons with the liturgical calendar, and building a culture of literature and story in the home. Katherine’s perspective is rich with faith, heritage, and practical rhythms that make ordinary days sacred.

What You’ll Hear in This Episode:

  • How the liturgical calendar shapes family rhythms and traditions.
  • Creating a literary home: seasonal picture books, read-alouds, and curating living books.
  • Why what we consume shapes the culture of our homes.
  • Practical ways to weave books and stories into everyday life.
  • Using each new season as a “mini new year” to reset rhythms with hope.

Resources Mentioned:

  • The Homemaker’s Club (discount here)
  • The Homemakers Literary Society (discount here)
  • Read-Aloud Revival (book lists by age)
  • Sally Clarkson & Sarah Clarkson (resources on books and literature in the home)
  • Ambleside Online (Charlotte Mason “living books” lists)

Katherine reminds us that every season offers a chance to begin again, a “mini new year” to reset our homes with rhythms of prayer, gratitude, and story. Even one small change like lighting a candle at dinner, starting a family read-aloud, or ending the day with prayer over your children can become a rhythm that steadies the whole house.

Friends, if this episode blessed you, I’d love for you to share it with a friend or leave a review, it helps other homemakers find encouragement here at the table.

After a three month sabbatical, it feels so good to be back on the podcast! It was definitely a much needed time of rest and restoration, and I couldn't be happier about being back at the table chatting about all things heart and home with my friends and fellow homemakers!

You will be happy to hear the familiar voice of my friend, Katie DeGroot, she joined me on Episode 13 as we discussed what it's like going against the grain of our hyper-capitalistic society and choosing to prioritize home above anything else society deems important and successful. It is such an honor and privilege to have her back!

In this week's episode, we gathered together to chat about the restoration of home that we are seeing online and in our communities, and how we are pioneers of both navigating and making home in the fast-paced world that lies further ahead of us while combining the skills and traditions of the past. It is our hope that at the end of this episode you are left with encouragement and knowing that the decision you are making to prioritize home is a grand and noble one and that we provide you with some thought-provoking ways in which you can find comfort, value, and success in this wildly beautiful and impactful vocation that we call, homemaking.

In this week's episode, my friend Molly DeFrank joins me as we discuss the impact that technology has on the home life and how to create a healthy balance that works for your family, using her tried and true method shared in her book, "Digital Detox: The Two-Week Tech Reset for Kids".

"We enjoy digital entertainment. We like technology. We don't want to banish it forever. We just want it to be working for us rather than feeling stuck and enslaved to it. So how do we make a long-term plan for our family that we can sustain our results, but also bring it back in."

"For me as a person of faith, I think about God telling his people how they should parent their kids and he gives so much freedom here in styles of parenting, but one of the things he said is train your kids up and talk about me when you're going along the road, when you're laying down, when you're getting up. We're living in a culture where all of those moments, all those in between times, they're all filled with a device. They're filling every single moment that historically families have used to connect, those little pockets of boredom. They're not there anymore because we're filling them up. So, when you take them away, you're actually giving yourself, and your home, and your kids an opportunity... pocket moments to connect with each other." - Molly DeFrank (@mollydefrank on Instagram)

You can purchase Molly's book "Digital Detox" here, where you'll also receive a handful of freebies with your purchase that will be useful, such as the kitchen table discussion prompts and scripts for approaching the implementation of a "digital detox" in your home that we discussed in this week's episode! (Note: Don't forget to add your order/receipt number at the bottom of her website to receive your freebies!)

Even in the midst of hardship, we can find joy, and that's what we see in these stories and what we can live out in our own personal lives.” – Jennifer Pepito (@jenniferpepito on Instagram)

In this week's episode, my friend Katie and I discuss the movement of women claiming their homes with home and intention for changing the course of their homes and those entrusted in their care, the future for the next generations, and as aid in a homesick world... even when it goes against the grain of modern society.

"I think we've kind of come to a place where what's being presented to us as an option really isn't working and we want something different. I don't necessarily think it's about a return to the past, what I think it's about is going forward into something else." - Katie Degroot (@katherinelouisedegroot on Instagram)

"You are making a home for whoever's in it. Maybe it's your guests. Maybe it's the friends you have over for dinner. But being a homemaker is more than being a housewife or a mom, it's making a nice home for everybody in it." - Jenna Smith (@theteacuphomestead on Instagram)

In today's episode, my friend Jenny and I invite you to listen in as we discuss the imaginary checklists that we create for being a "certified" homemaker through comparison and the need for checking expectations at the door and share ways in which we fight for beauty and gratitude amongst the tasks of our days' work within our homes.

"Homemaking, a lot of times is 1000 mundane tasks every single day that you're going to do over and over and over again that you're like, "I'm doing this today so that I can get up again tomorrow and do it again. Like it's going be the same. It's I'm going have to clean the kitchen again tomorrow, probably three times." So that is super defeating to me. If I get in that realm, what can I do that's going make it special. Is it going to be music, a candle, like a cup of tea, coffee for me usually or what can I find that's beautiful here? Like, what am I living right now that I prayed for? What am I living right now that I always hoped for? That I'm still not reaching this like checkbox or this expectation, so that I'm almost discontent in the right now because this still isn't perfect. And this still isn't perfect. And maybe my kitchen doesn't look like this, or maybe my weights like this, or my hair's falling out. All of those things, what can we do in those moments? Well, we can kind of say like, "what are our expectations? And what's actually really beautiful, and where am I really at?" - Jenny Fitzgerald (@fitzgeraldlane on Instagram)

Liz Marie Galvan is widely known as the “queen of cozy” in the blogging and Instagram world, she is also the author of a widely loved book called Cozy White Cottage and her most recent book, Cozy White Cottage Seasons.

As homemakers, we know that home is meant to be shared and I love that in Liz’s newest book, "Cozy White Cottage Seasons", she walks you through a beautiful guide for creating moments of coziness that draw out the best of each season by sharing tips n’ tricks that she has learned along the way, as well as tools for authentically creating and enjoying a home where memories and traditions will come alive through the seasons.

While we do chat about Liz’s newest book and ways for making home cozy through our favorite seasons of the year, in today’s episode, my friend Liz Marie Galvan and I invite you to listen in as we also discuss the magnificence of making home cozy through seasons of life, as well. From the more difficult seasons of military deployment, infertility, and miscarriage, to the more celebrated and joyful seasons of restoring an 1800’s farmhouse and starting a farm, opening a brick-and-mortar shop, and becoming a mother, Liz gracefully and wholeheartedly shares her journey with me and why she believes coziness is so impactful within the making of a home.

“With every loss or every hardship, it almost propelled me and encouraged me to do that [cultivate comfort and coziness] more, because it showed me how important it was to have a haven that you could go and escape to together, for your soul to heal, and just to nurture you every day.” - Liz Marie Galvan (@lizmariegalvan on Instagram).

Like the calendar year, homemaking comes with seasons. Some seasons in home are abundantly beautiful, and some are filled with trials and tribulations… but one thing remains true, having deep rooted hope and knowing that the role of homemaking is magnificent and incredibly worthwhile will get you through even the hardest of days.

In today’s episode, my friend Katie and I invite you to listen in as we discuss the ways in which we journey through the seasons of celebration and hardships in home with a whole lot of hope, grace, fellowship, and endurance.

“Hope just keeps us propelling forward in goodness. Homemaking is worth it. It’s worthwhile. And you have a whole community of people who are here to find the beauty in the ordinary and rejoice in the old-fashioned ways of making a house a home. Just rely on that truth and those good voices, and they’ll bring up that hope and faithfulness in homemaking for all of us. When we keep doing this and people keep sharing their testimonies, it’s just going to keep fueling faith that all of this is worth it." - Katie Campbell (@under_the_sassafras on Instagram)

From carrying traditions of our upbringings forward and understanding who we are and the value of our roles within our homes, Melissa and I believe that homemaking is simply defined as heart shaping.

In today's episode, my friend Melissa and I invite you to listen in as we discuss the heart of homemaking, mothering alongside one another, using social media as a tool for inspiration and community, creating rhythm, and the incredible value in taking moments to reflect and celebrate the things we have accomplished within our homemaking journeys as fuel to keep going.

"No matter the country, no matter the culture, home was the same because it was my mom, and it was my dad, and it was my brothers, and the food that we knew that we'd grown up on. That was home, and that's really special. It proves that it's not about the things, or the money, or the jobs, or anything. It's the people and the relationships and the traditions that we try to keep going. Homemaking is creating as rich and full of a life with my family, within these four walls." -Melissa Simmons (@melissa_amy_simmons on Instagram)

One of the most fascinating things when we look back on the seasons in which we have journeyed through, is to see a gleam of golden thread, the love and appreciation of home, running through our lives. Whether it's creating a cozy home after we come home from work, moving cross country to a new home, or leaving behind the office for pursuing a life of full-time home economics... the making of a house a home is beautiful and valuable. In today's episode, Tayler and I invite you to listen in as we discuss and navigate the ways in which we have learned to adapt, cultivate comfort, trust in timing, and create a habit and practice of seeking contentment through the seasons of homemaking.

"Where can I intentionally seek joy? That's on my to-do list because in order for me to do the work that God is calling me to do in my home, joy really reigns for me, at least that's what combats any negativity in my spirit. It's one of my biggest weapons against the enemy. It allows me to find a peace and serenity in the work that I'm doing in my home." - Tayler Franke (@joyinthewilderness on Instagram)

In today's episode, Jen and I invite you to listen in as we discuss the ways in which we believe that as homemakers, we are preserving civilization. By reflecting on who and what we want to be known for, we are empowered to authentically build strong foundations within our homes by choosing where we invest our efforts and where we spend our time... and how that significantly impacts our home life, the world in which we live today, and the generations to follow.

My friend Kristin and I invite you to listen in as we discuss what we believe to be cornerstones in the cultivation of our homes and the culture in which we intend to create. From traditions of both old and new, and the images of home that were planted in our heart's upbringings, we believe that through homemaking, we are building a rich home culture. A rich home culture that we pray will leave a lasting impact on the lives entrusted in our care, and for the generations to follow.

"I love to have them (my children) scurrying around to create that culture of being seen and wanted. That they are a part of it, they don't just live here, but they are connected to their home, they are a part of their home. It makes such a difference to me because I felt that so much more deeply when I would visit my grandmother. I felt like I was a part of her day and a part of her home, and I just want my kids to know that when they leave, that culture is still bringing them back here, they can always come home and be connected." - Kristin Cash @ouralaskanlegacy on Instagram

As gatekeepers between home and world, we have the ability through our daily actions and presence in our own homes, to change the world by collectively placing intention in the construction of homes built on strong foundations. Emily and I invite you to listen in as we discuss the impact we believe home has in our communities, how to maintain a healthful heart during seasons of trial and discontentment, and the beauty of community as we remain steadfast in our work making home fruitful and productive, together.

“I really believe though that the world really hinges on the home. A lot of the problems you see in society today and where the world is as a whole is a result of the deconstruction of the home and of the family. As homemakers, we really have the ability to impact the world.”

Little did Jayden and I know, back then, how formative the early years of our homemaking journeys would mean to our hearts today. Handed down mismatched couches and making home in a rinky dink apartment and a duplex that felt like a ninety's office building, we take a look back at the sweet beginnings we wouldn't change for the world. We discuss the little moments we create within our homes, be it past apartments or the homes we live in today, that make them feel cozy and joyful, and how with intention and rhythm... our homes become fruitful havens for those we care for each day.

"We have so much control over our homes, our days at home, and the atmosphere... Homemaking is about the people. It's about your husband, and your kids, and the people that you invite into your home." - Jayden Copeland (@backroadandbloom on Instagram)

In this episode, Jayden and I discuss the eBook that she has wholeheartedly created that will help you to create a simple, wholesome, from scratch life at home, called, "Old-Fashioned Homemaking for the Modern Woman". Inside this wonderfully thought-out publication, you will find 50 pages of useful tools for making your house a home.
