Today, I’ll share insight into resilience's power and beauty. I will also provide five tips on how to build resilience. Resilience is the characteristic that keeps us moving forward when we fall down or fail.
Resilience was necessary for each one of my guests to surmount and overcome the challenges, problems, and devasting news on their health.
Find out why resilience is essential and build it before you need it. Resilience is preventative medicine before disaster strikes. Resilience will provide you with a tool to strike back and become the best version of yourself.

Finding your purpose is something that is important to a whole lot of people. 50 million copies of "A Purpose Driven Life" have been bought. Search the word "purpose," and close to 12 million results will be found.
Purpose makes your life have meaning. Purpose makes your life more interesting and fulfilling. You might want to have a purpose in your life, but you don't always want the hardships that come along with finding your purpose.
Purposeful living has benefits, and I will be tying these benefits to three of my guests who found purpose in their lives through tough diagnoses and life-altering declarations into their lives and those they love.

A great conversation with two people who have totally different backgrounds and nothing that you could see in common. Until you listen and discover that J Haleem and I both grew up in New Jersey, struggled with challenges in our lives, and want to see, others transform their lives for the better.
J Haleem went from working for $8 an hour at the Hampton Inn to earning six figures as a commercial photographer in just a few years. He wasn't able to accomplish all this while being a convicted felon. While working for $8 an hour, he developed his mantra # I Won't Starve, which was the catalyst for him to leave his job after only one year.
Over his career, he's been able to work with international brands like Nike, Save the Children Foundation, NFL, Amtrak, and the WNBA.
Since then, he has been pardoned, and now J. Haleem has a different title, best-selling author and motivational speaker.
J Haleem uses the hashtag # I Won't Starve message to encourage and motivate students, entrepreneurs, and career-oriented individuals. His goal is to inspire you to build a platform to ensure that #You Won't Starve.

Heather Wanninger - Photographer, Coach, Podcaster, and an Inspiration
Shares her amazing story and how she learned the hard way blessings come from brokenness. The emotional abuse she endured years ago crushed her spirit and left her constantly questioning if she was good enough, smart enough, and capable enough. Her spirit was broken.
After being a stay-at-home mom for 11 years with no intention of ever working outside the home again, she became a single mom with three young boys. Lost, confused, and depressed, she had no idea what she was going to do next.
Enter a friend who believed in her before she believed in herself. And that’s when she started my photography business. Life gave her lemons, and she turned them into lemonade.
This is why she's so passionate about creating a fun experience for every person who steps in front of her camera and providing an environment to capture the most authentic version of her clients possible.

Being a mom and balancing a business or your career can be a juggling act. You often wonder, "What ball am I going to drop today?" Maybe there is a different way to look at this balancing, juggling act that doesn't seem to work or fit the life you want to create.
Why not find the right blend for your life, career, and family? The missing ingredient might be blending your life with faith. Having a "silent" partner that's always there for you, guiding you, lifting the burden. Who provides you a safe place to connect, commune, and communicate with a Father who loves you.
Samantha Cordero shares her journey into motherhood and entrepreneurship during the pandemic. Feeling isolated and alone, she was invited to join a Bible study, and she then invited God to have an integral part in her life.
The yes to those invitations turned a mother who thought she just wasn't built for motherhood into a mompreneur who has blended all that matters into a life that she loves.
Samantha's Bio:
My name is Samantha Cordero, and I'm the founding champion of our agency. As a passionate entrepreneur, I bring expertise in project coordination, executive support, and operations consulting. I have worked closely with business owners and executives across different industries, gaining insight into the unique challenges that face small businesses.
We believe the success of business growth is in the art of simplicity and efficiency. We understand that business owners and executives have a lot on their plates - that’s why we work so diligently to make removing productivity roadblocks easy for our clients. You can focus more on strategic growth while we focus on streamlined execution.
What are the top tips you'd give to anyone looking to start, run and grow a business today?1. Seek clarity. Embrace discomfort. Go for it. When things feel foggy and unclear, that is a moment to pause and ask yourself if what you are doing is headed in the right direction. 2. Is it aligned with your values and your goals? When you feel embarrassed, uncomfortable, or inferior, those are moments to step into that feeling and assess why you feel that way and what you need to do to not feel that way. Is it a moment to overcome insecurity? Is it a moment to invest in deeper learning? What do you need to do to feel comfortable and show up stronger? 3. And when you are nervous, just go for it. Honestly, the worst that will happen is that opportunity closes. It would be closed if you didn't go for it anyway.

My guest today, Terry Travers, is the CEO and Founder of Astrolabe.
”It is such a pleasure to see frustrated, insecure teens metamorphose into competent and confident young adults. At AAHS, we give them the tools they need to succeed in a 21st Century future. We show them kindness, compassion, and trust. We allow them to learn to work independently, to experiment, and to develop the skills to not only solve problems but to recognize them ahead of time. “
We all want to do right by our children. One of the big stressors for many parents is making sure our children get the best education possible to set them up for lifelong success.
Our firstborn was incredibly bright, engaged, and so eager to learn. But the death of a close family member and issues with school dampened that. As time went on, teachers labeled her and threatened to hold her back. I pulled her to homeschool, and the struggles continued. She seemed to HATE learning and fought the entire process. It was a battle of the wills, and we were both losing.
This struggle went on for several years. Meanwhile, our relationship went downhill, and as she moved into her pre-teen years, life was full of angst, anger, and fighting. I was losing my precious child and had no idea how to turn this around.
Two things happened around the same time…
The first - while I was bemoaning this to a friend, she recommended I pick up a book by Kevin Leman titled “Have a New Kid by Friday.” Wow. That book changed everything. But what’s funny is the title should actually be “Have a New Parent by Friday” - because that’s what it is all about - the parenting style. The biggest thing I learned was to listen.
The second thing that happened was I was offered a consulting job and had to be away three days/per week and work at home the other days. It involved a long commute, so my days away started early and ended late, and I was exhausted. My dad stepped up to watch and homeschool the kids. On my days at home, I was recovering from the previous very long day, doing actual work and attempting to school the kids. That third one - didn’t happen. What happened instead was the beginning of our journey into unschooling. That opened up a world I never imagined.
I now help parents who struggle with their teens because of school issues/anxiety find another path for their education. Along the way, I help and encourage re-connecting with that child.
For parents whose relationship with their teen is less than desirable - and perhaps most of that strife is school related - I recommend three steps to turn things around.
#1 LISTEN - Treat your kids with respect. Offer your trust. Avoid their drama. Never take anything they say or do personally. Have conversations when you are both calm and LISTEN to them.
#2 FOCUS ON WHAT IS WORKING - find out what is going well and find ways to use what’s going right in areas where things aren’t going right. We too often focus on what’s wrong and how to fix it. When we focus on strengths and positive outcomes, things work much better, and we feel better.
#3 RESEARCH ALTERNATIVES - As parents, we are thoroughly trained that our modern school and curriculum are the only way to get a solid foundation for a good life and a successful career, even though the actual data shows the opposite. We need to let go of our notions about education and look for alternative methods that will actually help our teens thrive.

Realizing we all struggle with some form of addiction and can fall into the trap of feeling my addiction isn't as bad as yours can cause ruined relationships and place us in a state of pride and judgment.
Choosing love is a powerful message that you'll want to listen to and share.

Starr Loutis surrendered. Starr shares her story of surrender and her life on the other side of drug addiction. Starr believed lies about herself that were instilled at a young age. During her journey to surrender, she had to unpack the lies, learn new truths and find a positive, productive, and purposeful way to process her emotions.
Celebrating one year clean was a monumental moment for Starr, and I have the privilege to share her story.
Starr is the CEO of Aligning Purpose Publishing.
Judgment is a natural and normal reaction. You judge so you can stay safe, decide, and determine if you should buy something or go somewhere. These are all judgment calls. Selecting one over another is how you quickly move into action.
Could your judgment be on overdrive? Could it stop you from making 7-second decisions and stick with them when you meet people?
How do you feel when you judge? How do you feel when you become curious? Do you see the difference? What makes you feel more alive inside, which one makes you feel a bit icky?
This is not a judgment; I'm just curious!

THINK LIKE A WOMAN OF GOD --- 15 Ways to Live Your FaithInspired by Cathedral Chorister Sarah Flores, who was celebrating her 15th birthday – Quinceañera.
15 scriptures paired with 15 personal moments in my life.
Memorizing scripture has been an important part of my life. It has been a passion that I am so excited to share and promote now.
What we think about is so important. It leads to mindset/attitude and action.
There are so many choices and distractions in our world today. Knowing God through the Scriptures is a necessity. Discerning the difference between what is truly God’s way or the world’s way. Partial truths are not true.
As a caregiver, I struggle with having the time and energy to care for my husband, to care for a home – cooking, cleaning, finances, upkeep – and then there is self-care. Nurturing my relationship with God is the only way I am able to face daily life.

Hopelessness, powerless, out of your control - no one wants to feel this way. Sometimes our circumstances seem dire and dismal. And that is exactly when it might be time to surrender. Not to raise the white flag to an enemy, but your arms up to your heavenly Father. He has a plan and purpose for all of us; sometimes, it takes us to a place we'd only go to if we gave it to Him in surrender. Too often, we want to step in and get in the way of God's work. We want to fix problems that aren't ours to fix. When we surrender to His will and let God be God, amazing things can happen. Today's podcast walks through a hopeless situation where God clearly spoke to get out of HIs way and then promised, "Watch what I do with her!" Lessons from this episode: Surrender Choose God's will, not yours Trust His Word - He is a promise keeper - He's got a plan! Stay close to Him and believe His promises

Sexual Abuse of children has staggering statistics. Marvel Katz shares her story about receiving the devastating news that her daughter was sexually abused as a child. Marvel then speaks of the hopeful experience of writing a book to help bring this topic to light and help victims talk about their abuse in a safe and comforting way through. Marvel grew up playing in the forests and fields of British Columbia. Like Tiny, Marvel has a sense of adventure and loves to explore the world around her. With her background in Early Childhood Education, Marvel has a compassionate heart for hurting children, and her home has been a safe haven for many little ones over the years. Sometimes you need a battle to awaken the warrior within you. Tammy became devastated when she started to lose her hair, fingernails, toenails, and vibrancy for life. Add to that a diagnosis of fibromyalgia and a constant battle with seborrheic psoriasis, Tammy was weak, barely able to make it up her driveway to the mailbox, and was not the woman she wanted to be for her husband, daughter, and clients. Conventional medicine did nothing to heal her health problems, so Tammy awakened the warrior within her and fought to get her health, hair, nails, and life back. By listening to the leading of the Holy Spirit and research, Tammy developed God-inspired recipes that completely healed all of her issues. Now, her God-given mission is to help women eliminate toxic chemicals found in personal care products that harm their health and the planet. Tammy founded AvivSPA Dead Sea Products in 1998. Tammy is now helping, healing, and encouraging other women to awaken the warrior within them.
