The story about a boy thrown away at birth in Korea and rescued at the brink of death -- and his journey through life. The podcast explores Dr Terwilliger's humorous experiences on the farm, life in the Air Force, funny stories, travels around the world, and learning to cope with a disability that impacted his life. Join me on this journey and the twists and turns of life through the lens of a gay Asian American who lived the American dream. There will be lots of laughs, perhaps a tear; and mostly adventure! #46 - Finally - Ed.D.; First AF-wide Project; DADT Law. This episode starts with a couple of lost stories; finally commencement from William & Mary; and a sad family loss. At work, my first Air Force-wide project is launched and I meet the Air Force Chief of Staff! In 1993, (wow, 30 years ago) the Don't Ask - Don't Tell law comes into play with experiencing meetings that revealed, in many way, a lack of understanding of LGBT service members.

#45 - U.S. vs T.H.E.M. & Dissertation Defended! The dissertation gets defended at William & Mary finishing that achievement. These episodes share both the challenges and projects that impact the entire Air Force as well as other components of DoD. Looking back, it was certainly rewarding to make an impact in such a definitive way.

#40 - AAPI, Some Trips, and Desert Storm. This episode starts with some thoughts on my perspective of Asian American Pacific Islander Month; the continuation of the busy activities with so much going on and then, add to that the launch of Desert Storm when Iraq invaded Kuwait. It was both a learning period as well as the building of experiences in policy making and Air Force organizational development.
We added another country and state; up to 30 countries; 41 states; across 354 cities!

#39 - Is it W&M?; Big Air Force Changes! This episode continues my time at Langley AFB and some changes in the Air Force with a birds-eye view. At nearly the same time, HQ TAC is engaged with the merger of MWR and Services career fields, the creation of Air Combat Command (ACC) by combining TAC, Strategic Air Command (SAC), and parts of Military Airlift Command (MAC); along with the second round of BRAC (Base Realignment and Closure) affecting some TAC bases. My branch is in the middle of all of this while at the same time, I make my decision on where to go to post-graduate school! It’s a busy time!

The episode ends with some of the most significant recognition both in my Air Force career and that became a foundation for my future.

Plane Crash, Playing Banker, & Big Award! This episode has so many events! We continue my first assignment at Randolph and how I depended on friends. MWR is responsible for both programs and activities across the entire base population; also has the exciting role in major base-wide entertaining events, so there are lots of adventures. In addition, there is more purple rain as well. Yet, even more rainbows with more recognition and awards in that first year! #25 - Officer Training School. This episode sadly speaks to a baby thrown in a dumpster. Unlike me, it was not along time ago in a land far away. It was in the US, a week ago. The baby was found alive, though critical. Then, this episode takes me back into the Air Force and a second career as I embark on Officer Training School. A couple of antics and some help on the firing range. It's the start to my second career that would take me to both challenging and rewarding adventure.

#21 - With Love to Barbara Ann Holton Terwilliger, 1935-1983. 1983 was a major year in my life. So many rainbows and three purple rain, rather thunderstorms. It was one of the most turbulent year of my adult life. I leave the Air Force, loose my grandfather and Mom, and earn the first three academic degrees.
Come on the journey to see how my life is turned upside down, and then we will explore the next chapters together.
This episode is dedicated to everyone I note in the podcast because each had a profound impact on how things turned out for me.

#16 - Robbed at Gunpoint! & A General Visits! Welcome to Episode 16. This episode marks the 3 month anniversary. As we continue my time at RED HORSE, and my experience in my new job learning mobility and logistics planning. I meet a general officer for the first time and learn that I cannot change the oil in my car! Some troubling events at Pizza Hut brought more purple rain. Seems I was like a magnet to unique, or more appropriately described as life changing events!
Thank you to retired SMSgt John H. Miller, III for being my special guest this week. You know him through last week's podcast and you'll also see, through his words, how truly special he is. In addition to his career in the Air Force, he also is retiring soon from a full career with the US Navy as a contracting officer, culminating a lifetime in public service.
With your help, we can get to 1000 downloads by Thanksgiving. We are close - just over 100 needed!

Chickens and Rabbits and Goats, OH MY! This episode continues the story about how our backyard was transformed into a hobby farm, the addition of rabbits and dairy goats to our flock of chickens, and a few more of our experiences as a family. With these additions, the family could rely less on stores for grocery items and at the same time, the growth would result in a move to a real farm.
The episode is dedicated to my siblings, who shared in these experiences, grew and learned together, and shared in the love that bonded the family.
