On June 11, 2024, Aaron made his Cafe Carlyle Debut and it was such an incredible evening to be a part of! Aaron debut a whole new setlist and his stories that night were so deep and he really let the audience in even more to his experiences and his emotions as he performed certain songs. It's going to be special to see and hear about his journey over the next three weeks!
Aaron's ability to tell stories and intertwine them into his concerts and align them with the songs on his setlists. They take his song selections to a whole other level when audiences learn backstory behind them. Aaron's stories also give audiences little glimpses into his personal life, family life, and moments in his career. Just like narrowing down concert songs was a challenge, the same was true for selecting a few favorite stories...but here we are!
Trying to narrow down songs that Aaron has covered during his concerts over the years was no easy feat. His setlists are always the perfect mix of theater and pop/rock and even songs that he has performed more than once, he never performs them in the same way twice. This week, Jill is back with me as we tried to choose our favorite songs that fit into different categories. Let's see if any of our favorites are yours as well!
On May 11, 2024, Aaron performed his first solo concert with The Pacific Jazz Orchestra at The Soraya Stage. To say that this concert was incredible would be an understatement. The setlist was insane with so many new songs, and surprise songs were revealed on the night. But the most anticipated song of the night was Roxanne and Aaron performed that song not one but twice and opted up not once, but twice and everyone in the audience and those who saw videos of it are still trying to recover. And just like that, 12 weeks of Sweeney Tveit and the revival of Sweeney Todd have come to an end. What an incredible run both the show as a whole and Aaron had. It was such a privilege to be able to witness that magic that Aaron, Sutton and the entire company created on stage night after night, show after show. May 5th was electric and such a special show and my friend Jill is back with me to recap and highlight favorite moments from the final show.
Two years ago on April 23, 2022, I saw Moulin Rouge and Aaron Tveit live for the first time and nothing as been the same since! The first half of today's episode reflects on some Rouge memories. The second part highlights another incredible, first time experience: my first ever Saturday night on Broadway and a front row experience with Sweeney Tveit! Still recovering from that experience, but I feel so grateful to have had it happen before the the show ends in just two weeks.
Some how, there are only three weeks left to attend the tale of Sweeney Todd. It's wild how fast time as gone. Aaron and Sutton are so settled into their roles and making little tweaks and changes that just continue to level up their performances! This past Sunday, 4.14.24, I drove into the city for a rush ticket and it was an amazing last minute Sunday on Fleet Street.

"100 Years from now, we will look back and realize that Sondheim is the musical theater Shakesphere." - Aaron has had a connection to Stephen Sondheim for many years and continues to keep his legacy alive, especially now with his role and fresh take on Sweeney Todd, the demon barber of Fleet Street.
It was a two show week on Fleet Street. One planned and one a surprise lottery win. It was a big week on Fleet Street for guests! On Wednesday, we sat across the aisle from the legend himself, Lin Manuel Miranda! Another Broadway icon, Neil Patrick Harris attended the tale for Saturday Night on Broadway. Each time I've had the opportunity to attend the tale, I feel like I focus on a new point and come out of it with new thoughts and feelings about the events and lyrics. It's absolutely phenomenal and Aaron Tveit and Sutton Foster continuously level up their performances.
I get asked a lot what my husband thinks about Aaron and going to his shows/concerts. So this week, my husband is on the podcast talking about his thoughts and experiences with our Tony Winning National Treasure through the years.

Shifting from the 1940s musicals and Rapscallion Danny Bailey, to the 60s and 70s musicals of Season 2 of Schmigadoon. Season 2 brought audiences to Schmicago and introduced the loveable hippie Topher to be the light and levity among some of the darkness in Season 2. From Doorways to Where, to Something Real, to Sour Macaroons, to gassing up the Happiness Bus, Topher was much more prevalent in Season 2.
It's still had to believe that Schmigadoon has been canceled. The news last week caught so many by surprise! This week's episode is all about honoring the rapscallion of Schmigadoon Season 1, Danny Bailey.

On Christmas Day, 2012, the Les Miserables Movie opened in theaters and Aaron Tveit blew viewers away as a revolutionary leader. Aaron's casting in the movie was so significant to the Broadway community as he was their representation in the film. Here we are, 11 years later and the movie, Enjolras, and the Enjolras wig are still just as iconic and meaningful!

They have performed twice at Miscast together and have engaged in one of the most anticipated kisses. The sky is the limit for Aaron and Gavin. Seven years ago, Aaron performed two concerts back to back. On August 27th, he performed at the House of Blues in Boston and on August 28th he opened for Andy Grammer and Gavin DeGraw at Bethel Woods. Aaron's concerts were also so full of energy and he just radiated joy while on stage singing and dancing. Hopefully another rock concert series is in his future!
When asked what is one show Aaron has been in that I would go back in time to see, one of the top answers is always Company. His portrayal of Bobby, what's been described in interviews, and listened to through audios was so powerful. Aaron has said that Bobby was a milestone role for him. This week's episode takes a look back at Aaron's time in Sondheim's Company.
Last month on July 18th, it marked 17 years since Aaron made his Broadway debut in Hairspray. But his journey to Broadway began well before that debut. Thanks to a high school that encouraged students to participate in all the activities and to a teacher who saw the potential and talent that Aaron had bottled up inside of him.
Moulin Rouge! the Musical just celebrated two big milestones! On July 22, they celebrated the performance of their 1,000th show on Broadway and on July 25, they celebrated their 4th Anniversary of the show opening on Broadway! This show has brought so much joy over the last 4 years, so this episode is a little look back to highlight a few special nights.
If you had asked me a year ago if I would go and see Moulin Rouge without Aaron Tveit, my answer would have been a hard no. Thanks for friends and social media and opportunities to be exposed to other Christians and the actors portrayals of the character, I have open my mind and have gone on to see Derek Klena on Broadway and John Cardoza on tour. My friend Jill and I talk about the different Christians that we have seen at the Rouge and highlight how they have been able to use Aaron Tveit's portrayal as the foundation, but make the character their own. July 1, 2023 goes down in history as the day that Aaron Tveit was called in as an emergency cover for Christian the Composer at the Moulin Rouge! It happened so fast and everything from the Aaron and Ricky reunion on Ricky Live to the walk across the stage to lift the sign, to the amazing vocals of JoJo and Aaron together. It all made for one wild, magical night!
Aaron's role as Matt Dobbins in the CBS show, The Code, is proof that you do not need to have a lot of screentime to have a big impact. Just as he and his castmates did in Next To Normal, Aaron's character Matt deals with mental illness and its effects on relationships and day to day life. There is one project that Aaron was apart of that he has expressed that he wished more people new about and that is his role as John Wilkes Booth in the London production of Sondheim's Assassins. From November 2014 to March of 2015, Aaron performed 7 nights a week and today's episode shares more about this project and how Aaron prepared for the role.

It's been a long time since I have watched this series and back when I did watch it, I didn't yet know who Aaron was. I returned to the Rouge on 2/19 and the show was just as, if not more magical than the last time. The way that Aaron is able to add little notes, looks, lines, or movements to enhance every performance! I just can't get enough!
Sunday, February 5th was another memorable day at the Moulin Rouge! We had to bid farewell and Happy Trails to the founding member or the Bohemian Explorer Society, Sahr, better known as Toulouse Lautrec. So many special moments were shared between all of the cast members on stage, but specifically between Aaron and Sahr and Aaron and Ashley! Today's episode recaps those moments and pays tribute to Sahr and his embodiment of the Bohemian ideals: truth, beauty, freedom, and love.

Both articles shared so many little nuggets of insight into Aaron's thoughts and feelings on return to the Rouge after being away for 8 months. Happy New Year! The first episode of 2023 is all about the on screen relationship of Gareth Ritter and Laurel Healey in Aaron's CBS show, Braindead. Bugs, and head explosions aside, the chemistry between Gareth and Laurel is undeniable, so this episode will focus more on the sweet, yet challenging aspects of their on screen relationship amidst the craziness of DC politics.

It wouldn't be the holidays without our favorite Prince James of Galwick. One Royal Holiday has become such a comfort movie to so many since it first premiered. The cast is made of up of some stellar Broadway stars and through this movie Hallmark showed that it was possible to still work and create in the middle of the pandemic. There's so much to love about the way that Aaron portrays our Prince James, from his sarcasm to his vulnerability. I hope you enjoy this episode and have a "very Merry Christmas. What a week in the world of Aaron Tveit! One week ago, he announced his 12 week, limited return to Moulin Rouge! The internet exploded with excitement and anticipation! Aaron also reunited with Danny Burstein and Baz Luhrmann at Rizzoli Bookstore in New York City for a book signing to celebrate David Cote's book. Danny Zuko has become a beloved character for different generations. Aaron Tveit assumed the role of Danny Zuko in 2016 for the TV Musical adaptation of Grease Live! While he certainly was able to get into character and look the part as a result of phenomenal costumes and hair, he also level up his skills with bringing the iconic dance moves and songs to the screen for one night only! This episode will highlight Aaron's perspective on assuming the role, how he prepared for it, and what his initial thoughts were when this opportunity was presented to him. Enjoy!
Okay okay, as Spooky Season comes to an end, it seems only fitting to cover Aaron's two roles in American Horror Stories. Adam the contractor in Rubber Girl Part 2 and grieving father, Jay Gantz in Feral. Both episodes have elements of horror, but his Feral episode is the psychological stuff of nightmares. Both roles that Aaron plays for the series are very different and they were Aaron's first opportunity to be exposed to acting in the horror genre. Happy (early) Halloween!

Switching gears from TV back to film. During his TV show hiatuses, Aaron was able to be a part of two smaller films that could not be more opposite. Better off Single and Created Equal. One tells the story of a man trying to find himself after a break up. The other follows a lawyer who tests his beliefs and his mindset as he sets out to defend a case. Enjoy!

Special Agent Mike Warren is one of my favorite characters of Aarons'. Each season, Aaron's acting skills level up as he captures the life and lies as an undercover FBI agent. This episode will dive into Season 1 and includes a combination of season/episode events as well as some behind the scenes facts and stories from the cast. Oh social media. It's got a little bit of everything, the good and the bad. Aaron's stance on the topic of social media has always been consistent in that he wants to keep his private life private and share only about his work on his social medias, which he didn't actually fully have an use until 2015. This episode dives deeper into Aaron's perspective on social media and the role that it plays in his life today.
Play ball! This week's episode focuses Aaron's performance as John Mazzello in the independent baseball film, Undrafted. Aaron hits it out of the park with his portrayal of John, "Mazz" during a intramural baseball game. He broods, he questions his desire to continue playing, he motivates his teammates, and in the end he realizes that there's more to life and the game of baseball than getting drafted. Today's episode is all about Aaron's time playing Bobby in Barrington Stage's production of Company. Right now, as this episode is being released, we are in the middle of the five year anniversary timeline of the show's Barrington run, which opened on August 10, 2017. This week's episode is part 1 of 2! I had the opportunity to speak with some other fans of Aaron Tveit and learn more about their "Aaron Story" and what drew them in to him and his work. It's something so special to be a part of a community that shares the same interests and admiration, but the fact is, we all have our own unique story for how we got there and I'm excited to share some "Aaron Stories" with you over the next two weeks!
Episode 8 is light and fun as it discusses a few of Aaron's more recent onscreen/onstage love interests. Starting with Graceland and going through to Moulin Rouge, there's no shortage of chemistry between Aaron and his co-stars.
We are here! Aaron's first big motion picture role! He captured our hearts and Inspector Javert as the barricade building, revolutionary Enjolras in Les Miserable. This role of Aaron's holds a special place for me, as it was my first experience with Aaron as an actor and hearing his voice. So much of this role was a dream come true for Aaron and he was hand selected for very specific reason by the producers, and he plays a critical role in why we are able to see the groundbreaking, live singing musical movie that we know and love today. What do Aaron Tveit and Leonardo DiCaprio have in common? Besides their good looks, they've both also taken on the role of the fantastical life of Frank Abagnale Jr. in Catch Me If You Can. Catch Me If You Can, is a musical project that Aaron to this day speaks of with so much pride and adoration. The show may have had a short run on Broadway, but it's impact on Aaron and his future performing roles has been huge. Tune into Episode 6 for more of Aaron's story about the musical and his performance.
Well here we are! Aaron's first originated role on Broadway. Gabe, from Next to Normal. Next To Normal was a unique show to perform and also to watch as an audience member because it targeted difficult subjects such as mental illness and family dynamics. But through the show, Aaron and the rest of the cast members created components that each member of the audience could connect to in one way or another.
Picture this: You're a new musical theater major, working so hard to make it and succeed in the program. One day a music director from a national musical tour offers a masterclass and your college and after your audition, tells you that you are perfect for their show and ask for your contact information. You, having no idea about how the world of performing works, provide you information and then go on with your day to day. Seems crazy, right? Well, that part of the story of how our National Treasure, Aaron Tveit, got his first acting job in the national tour of the musical, Rent. Episode 4 shares the story of how this job came to be and how the rest, as they say, is history.
Welcome Back for episode 3! This episode will focus on two key character traits of Aaron's: Humbleness and Gratitude. From how he interacts with fans, to his interviews that he gives and even within his Tony Speech, Aaron is quick to mention how luck and grateful he is for every opportunity he has been given.
