The Disobedience Podcast

Princess Anene-Maidoh

3 Episodes

This podcast series aims to explore the importance and power of civil resistance through a feminist lens. It seeks to answer the question “What impact does female participation have on the success of civil resistance movements?” Research demonstrates that civil resistance movements are about twice as successful as violent ones and mass participation including meaningful women’s involvement in particular, leads to sustainable peace. To demonstrate the value of women mobilizing, this podcast explores case studies of nonviolent civil resistance movements that have been led by or highly influenced by women. These movements range from protests advocating for women’s issues to demands for national liberation. These cases bring a diverse perspective to women’s organizing in terms of subject matter, location, and historical context.
