“Just a Farmer” with Leila McDougall on: Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Stitcher | Google Podcasts
Today on the show, we talk about a unique film that is breaking ground in rural communities. Australian farmer, entrepreneur, and filmmaker Leila McDougall, joins us to talk about her feature film, “Just a Farmer.” The film explores mental health and demonstrates the essential contributions that farmers make. Leila saw a need to ignite discussions about rural life, and sought out to produce this film on her family’s farm in Victoria, Australia. Released in March 2024, the film has been taking the world by force, turning a focus on mental health in Agriculture.
We are excited to support Leila and her film, and hope that our listeners do the same! Leila not only had a helping hand in producing/promoting the film, but plays a lead role as well. Watching her and other actors like Robert Taylor (famously known for his role as Walt Longmire) star in this emotional roller coaster of a film, reminds us about the struggles that all rural communities face, and not just our own in America.

What is Stockmanship? with Bryan Neubert on: Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Stitcher | Google Podcasts
We are pleased to welcome renowned horseman Bryan Neubert to the show today. Bryan shares unique words of wisdom, his experiences, and stories that you absolutely don't want to miss out on. He discusses what fine stockmanship means to him and how he aims to encourage desired thoughts and actions through refined horsemanship and dogmanship. People have been handling cattle for as long as cattle have existed. Understanding how livestock behave and why makes it so that you can accomplish anything with them, and Bryan is living proof of that.
Bryan was raised on his family's ranch near Salinas, California. He had many opportunities to work for and with gifted horsemen. Bryan spent 20 years cowboying and riding colts on some of the biggest ranches in Nevada and California. Thirteen of those years were spent as cowboss in charge of cattle, horses and cowboy crew.
Bryan, his wife Patty, and three children all make their living working with horses. He holds clinics at his home in Alturas, California for part of the year and travels the U.S and Canada the rest of the year helping people and their horses through his clinics. Bryan is eager to share what he has learned. He believes that he is constantly learning and considers himself to be a continual student of horsemanship.

Only Time Will Tell with Jorgiea Raftopoulos on: Apple Podcasts | Spotify | Stitcher | Google Podcasts
Today on the show, we discussed the art behind the sheep industry with Colorado rancher, Jorgiea Raftopoulos. Jorgiea shares what it’s like to work on her family’s operation, Two Bar Sheep Co., and what she wishes the public knew about the lamb and wool industry. This unique way of life is not as routinely talked about as, say, the beef industry, but it is still very much alive and thriving. There are years of tradition passed down from generation to generation, and Jorgiea shares her first hand experience, and the roles she fits into.
The Two Bar Sheep Co. story dates back to the early 1900’s when Jorgiea’s family immigrated from Kaloskopi, Greece, a small mountain village in north central Greece. Northwest Colorado became their home, since the steep, mountain terrain reminded them of their homeland. Two Bar Sheep Co., continues to honor their roots by humanely and sustainably raising Rambouillet-Targhee ewes crossed with Rambouillet and Suffolk rams. Their commercial herd has been developed over 80 years and spans northwest of Craig, with rangeland spreading into Wyoming. Growth has also included adding commercial cattle and goat herds. They continue the family tradition with the same determination and tenacity of those before them in order to provide a high quality product for their consumers.
