Welcome to 90+1 the Podcast that covers all things football (soccer) out of Canada and the USA. This podcast will speak with players, coaches and professionals within the sport that have come out of North America to make football a full time career.
We will speak with players currently playing domestically as well as coaches and players born in North America who have made a career internationally.
Get to hear the ups and downs of players who have made it to the professional game as a North American player and what it takes to stay at the top level.
Today we were joined by current goalkeeper coach at The University of Southern Mississippi Women's soccer program. With a lot of experience over the last 5 years on the men's and women's side of college soccer and as well a part of the Des Moines Menace USL 2 team staff. Juan talks a lot about his experiences, his methodology as a coach and what it takes to not only be a great goalkeeper but great goalkeeper coach.
On this week's episode we have professional goalkeeper Jonathan Viscosi join us. Born and raised in Ottawa Canada Jonathan's career has brought him to countries like England, Sweden, USA and Finland. Currently the goalkeeper at VPS in Finlands top division, while getting his masters in Sports Psychology. He brings a lot of knowledge to the episode and talks in depth about the highs and lows of his career.
On this new episode of the podcast we are joined by Canadian Premier League goalkeeper Jordan Tisseur. He is currently one the goalkeeper for Valour FC.
Jordan comes onto the episode with previous pro experience before signing with Valour as well as being the goalkeeper for one of the best U - sport programs in the country University of Montreal.
In this episode we had on Canada U17 national team goalkeeper coach Luca Leone. He brings a wealth of experience into his coaching career with a professional playing career in England, South America and the MLS. He shares insight on how he started his coaching career and how his own playing career has helped him develop into the coach he is today.
In the first Episode of 2023 we interview Canadian professional goalkeeper Micheal Argyrides. He has experience playing for one of the best Universities in Canada, York as well as one of the best League 1 Ontario teams Vaughn FC. He speaks on his experience playing in Canada before going over to Northern Ireland during the pandemic to train and go on trial. We hear about how he transitioned from a part time player to becoming a full time footballer, how he has dealt with being away from home for so long and his future goals for his career. A young goalkeeper with a bullet proof mindset and a bright career this is an episode you want to listen to.
On this week's episode of the podcast we had Canadian goalkeeper and Canadian National Team goalkeeper Simon Thomas. Simon is a native of British Columbia Canada where he was a part of the Vancouver Whitecaps MLS squad before moves to England and now for the last few years playing in the Norwegian first division. He spoke about he career thus far, why he has been making the moves he has and his hopes to get back into the National Team squad.
On this weeks episode we had the chance to speak with professional goalkeeper Tor Saunders. Tor was drafted out fo Coastal Carolina University to Nashville SC. He is now playing in the USL league 1 with Chattanooga Red Wolves. Tor speaks about his time at college being drafted and how he is adapting as a pro in the early stages of his career.
On this weeks episode we have Kareem Rae joining us on the show. Kareem is an Author, Footballer & Founder at One Soccer Nation. In this episode he speaks about his time as a footballer, the reason he started One Soccer Nation and sharing what it was like publishing his first book at such a young age. Kareem also hosts and runs his podcast show #ProSoccerTalk where he interviews some of the best Pro footballers & athletes worldwide!

On Today's episode we had CPL defender Jordan Haynes from Pacific FC join us on the show. Jordan was a part of the 2021 CPL championship team who beat Forge at home to win the title. Jordan story is one for the record books he shares some highs early on in his career and the lows that came afterwards. He shares great insight on how he got through rough patches of his career and the moment when a coach trusted in his ability to "revive" his career.
This week's episode we are happy to have on ex-professional goalkeeper and current Sporting Kansas City 2 goalkeeper coach Darrin MacLeod. Darrin is a native of Kitchener Ontario, Canada. In this episode we spoke with Darrin about how he got the opportunities to play in Europe at a young age, playing Division 1 soccer in the USA and making it to the professional ranks as a goalkeeper before making a transition to coach.
Had a great conversation with Matt Silva on the show this week. We spoke with him about his time at the youth level before going to college, then getting the opportunity to go to a new country to play in the first division. He spoke about his experience in Europe and then making his way back home to Canada for 3 seasons!
Mathew and I speak about his teenage years playing with Toronto FC academy and what was the next steps when the team did not bring him into the first team, where he made the transition to U - Sport powerhouse York University where he won 2 national championships before seeing a stint in Italy and finally landing an opportunity with Halifax Wanders and moving to new opportunities around the CPL.
