In this episode, Kory and Theresa discuss themes that came up in a Padlet discussion board for OWI instructors. The topic for the discussion was "designing hybrid activities," with much of the discussion framed by Mary Stewart's (2017) "Communities of Inquiry: A Heuristic for Designing and Assessing Interactive Learning Activities in Technology-Mediated FYC".
In this episode, Kory and Theresa are responding to issues and themes raised in a discussion board for OWI instructors. The topic for the discussion was "access and inclusion," but much of the discussion had to do with the concepts of "meta-commentary" and challenges with discussion boards.

In this episode, Kory and Theresa are joined by Sabina Simon, a PhD student in the School of Education, who is in the midst of collecting and analyzing interview data with students in hybrid writing courses at UC Davis.
After we share a little about the history of hybrid writing courses in the program, and the Hybrid Inquiry Project, Sabina walks us through some of the more interesting and surprising themes to emerge out of student interviews and focus groups so far.

Kory and Theresa react to instructors' posts in a faculty professional development discussion board about course goals, essential questions, and learning outcomes. Faculty in this discussion were prompted to generate goals, questions, and outcomes for hybrid writing courses, based on exercises in Kathryn Linder's Blended Course Design Workbook.Along the way, we discuss some of the challenges of backwards course design, and some approaches to designing a hybrid writing course.
