Some have suggested that in today's world, the family has somehow become less important. Well, I can't help thinking just the opposite: that when so much around us is whispering the little lie that we should live only for the moment and for ourselves, it's more important than ever for our families to affirm an older and more lasting set of values… The family is the basic unit of our society, the heart of our free democracy. It provides love, acceptance, guidance, support, and instruction to the individual. Community values and goals that give America strength also take root in the home. In times of change and challenge, families keep safe our cultural heritage and reinforce our spiritual foundation….

In a rapidly changing world, ancient truths remain steadfast, offering wisdom and direction to a new generation. Understanding old words in a new light requires a deeper exploration of their original meanings, often found in the richness of the Hebrew language. Biblical Hebrew is layered with depth, where a single word can carry multiple shades of meaning, revealing insights that modern translations may not fully capture. Words like shalom (peace) or hesed (loving-kindness) go beyond simple definitions, embodying profound spiritual realities. By studying these ancient words, we uncover timeless truths that speak directly to our lives today, bridging the past with the present and helping us grasp God’s message with greater clarity and depth.

Do You need some Comfort?
Do You Know somebody who needs some Comfort?
To strengthen: to invigorate; to cheer or liven up. To strengthen the mind when depressed or depleted; to console; to give new strength to the spirits; to cheer, or relieve from depression, or trouble. Relief from pain, and uneasiness of body or distress of mind. It implies also some degree of positive animation of the spirits; or some pleasurable sensations derived from hope, and agreeable prospects; consolation. The word signifies new strength, or animation; and relief from pain is often the effect of said, new strength.
That which gives strength or support in distress, difficulty, danger, or infirmity.
We live in an age and culture of religious complexity. The simplicity which is in Christ is rarely found in our programs, methods, organizations, denominations, rules, regulations, or rituals, through these we have created an American church culture of nervous activity that occupies our time and attention but which can never satisfy the hunger of the heart, that longs to “know” God the simplicity of the Gospel [God’s Good news] is in its awesome power and the power of the gospel is in its awesome simplicity.

Christmas is a time of Wonder…
When the angels had gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds began saying one to another, “Let us go straight to Bethlehem, and see this [wonderful] thing that has happened which the Lord has made known to us.” So they went in a hurry and found their way to Mary and Joseph, and the Baby as He lay in the manger. And when they had seen this, they made known what had been told them about this Child, and all who heard it were astounded and wondered at what the shepherds told them. Luke 2:15-18
Christmas truly is an amazing time of the year. Heaven coming to earth, God coming to man. Actually, God becoming a man. It is no wonder then that when we open our Bibles we discover how majestic that first Christmas really was. From the beginning of the story to the end of the story, Jesus's birth is filled with awe. The story is packed with angels, and dreams, and kings, and prophecies, and gifts, and the glory of God shining in the skies.

The Psalms are rich in human experience. At times they ring with the conflict and noise of battle. At other times they take us with hushed hearts into the inner sanctuary, into the immediate presence of God. At times they set our hearts aflame and our feet dancing for joy. At times we turn to them when our face is drenched with tears…

The biggest question is not, "What is my purpose for my life?" but, "What is God’s purpose for my life?"
So many of us twist ourselves up in knots trying desperately to be something or someone else. Trying to fulfill some endless list of qualities and capabilities that we think will make us feel loved or safe or happy.
That’s an exhausting way to live.
What is God asking you do to? What is the thing God created you to be?
Are you confident that you know and are fulfilling God’s purpose for your life?

By preparing for a new year with this new series and the “shared” practices, my prayer and belief is that each family and individual will be able to lay a great foundation to start and finish strong. Not only will you gain extraordinary focus, but you’ll establish habits for living and leading from a healthier posture.

We know them from songs, we read about them in God’s word and see them in the nativity scene on the mantle, but what can we actually learn from the Wise Men? What can their story teach us? How do they set the example for how we approach Christ? Everything changed when Jesus was born. He gave us the chance to be known, accepted, and forgiven. Just like the Three Wise Men, even if we arrive a little late, once we do, we experience this love and we can’t help but come before Him with worship, praise and bring the best parts of ourselves to honor Him.

Just like the Three Wise Men, even if we arrive a little late, once we do, we experience this love and we can’t help but come before Him with worship, praise and bring the best parts of ourselves to honor Him.
This series celebrates “The Prince of Preachers” Charles Spurgeon as we journey through his 4-decade long pastorate at the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London. We will be stepping back in time and drawing the simple and profound truths he preached in the 1800 hundreds to a contemporary world.
Doth not all nature around me praise God? If I were silent, I should be an exception to the universe. Doth not the thunder praise Him as it rolls like drums in the march of the God of armies? Do not the mountains praise Him when the woods upon their summits wave in adoration? Doth not the lightning write His name in letters of fire? Hath not the whole earth a voice? And shall I, can I, silent be? -Charles H. Spurgeon

The weakest of minds are those driven by the crowd, the culture, by convenience. The strong of heart and spirit are more accustomed to standing alone. They do not panic, or find themselves perplexed even if they find themselves in a minority. They understand that Greater is HE that is them, than all that may be against them…

When most people think of worship, they think of the first part of a church service on a Sunday where people stand together and sing a few songs or hymns! The Bible characterizes worship very differently. Worship is born from a place of knowing who God truly is: His nature, His character, and His ways.
In this series, we'll learn that Worship is a lifestyle, not just a moment in time….
If we choose a false way of worship we shall, before long, choose to worship a false god. C.H. Spurgeon

Do you understand the “Providential Power Of God”? Do you work with it, or against it?
In this series we'll learn... When God leads us into difficult seasons, it’s not to punish us but to prosper us. When He sends hardships, it’s not to bring us harm but to give us hope. When He disciplines us, it’s not to send us into the “doghouse” of His displeasure, but to free us from the consequences of our foolishness… and to guarantee our good future.

The home is the place where we form and build our attitudes, toward and about life, our core values, our deeply held beliefs. It is in the home that HOPE is nurtured or demolished. Our homes in this present pandemic must become places of preservation. Sanctuaries of spirituality and sanity. Temples of worship where the Holy Spirit can dwell, where the problems and pain of life outside are shut out, a dwelling where love, peace, and hope reside.

Crisis: A time of intense difficulty, trouble, or danger. A time when a difficult or important decision must be made. The decisive moment, the turning point for better or worse. People always fall in love with the most perfect aspects of each other’s personalities. Who wouldn’t? Anybody can love the most wonderful parts of another person. But that’s not the clever trick. The really clever trick is this: Can you accept the flaws? Can you look at your partner’s faults honestly and say, I can work around that. I can make something out of it...

The future is unknown… so in it, we can see fear or hope, the choice is ours. The future is more predictable if we look at the seed we are planting today! If we sow seeds of hope, joy, love, and faith we can say with some assurance we believe that our future will be brighter, better, bigger than the last season...

We’re all confronted by countless choices each day. Some are minor, while others can be life-changing. Some of these choices may impact our lives today while other choices may not affect us for years to come. The important thing to remember is that we are a product of the choices we make. Each decision helps to define who we are and how we’re different from one another. Making good choices begins with taking charge of the decision-making process.

Fasting: The act of abstaining from food… The purpose of fasting is to loosen to some degree the ties which bind us to the world of material things and our surroundings as a whole, in order that we may concentrate all our spiritual powers upon the unseen and eternal things.
For we are His workmanship [His own master work, a work of art], created in Christ Jesus [reborn from above—spiritually transformed, renewed, ready to be used] for good works, which God prepared [for us] beforehand [taking paths which He set], so that we would walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us]. Ephesians 2:10
A man in the crowd answered, “Teacher, I brought you my son, who is possessed by a spirit that has robbed him of speech. —Mark 9:17
As He was leaving on His journey, a man ran up and knelt before Him and asked Him, “Good Teacher [You who are essentially good and morally perfect], what shall I do to inherit eternal life [that is, eternal salvation in the Messiah’s kingdom]?” 18 Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is [essentially] good [by nature] except God alone. 19 You know the commandments: ‘Do not murder, Do not commit adultery, Do not steal, Do not testify falsely, Do not defraud, Honor your father and mother.’” 20 And he replied to Him, “Teacher, I have [carefully] kept all these [commandments] since my youth.” 21 Looking at him, Jesus felt a love (high regard, compassion) for him, and He said to him, “You lack one thing: go and sell all your property and give [the money] to the poor, and you will have [abundant] treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me [becoming My disciple, believing and trusting in Me and walking the same path of life that I walk].” 22 But the man was saddened at Jesus’ words, and he left grieving, because he owned much property and had many possessions [which he treasured more than his relationship with God]. 23 Jesus looked around and said to His disciples, “How difficult it will be for those who are wealthy [and cling to possessions and status as security] to enter the kingdom of God!” Mark 10:17-23
On the first day of the week, very early in the morning, the women took the spices they had prepared and went to the tomb. They found the stone rolled away from the tomb, but when they entered, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus. While they were wondering about this, suddenly two men in clothes that gleamed like lightning stood beside them…The angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said.’ Luke 24:1-4 and Matthew 28:5-6
