Brenda J and Karen W interview Nathan Appfel, two time Emmy Award winning film director who is releasing a docuseries called The Religion Business and an app called Broken Shepherds on July 10, 2025. Nathan tells his story of how he grew up attending a Megachurch in California but when he became a director and started traveling the world started to question religion and tithe. He bought the domain, The Religion Business, and started asking pastors about their salaries and where their money was going. He started at age 28, and after 12 years of no accountability or transparency, finished his 7 part docuseries and app that is about to change the world. After researching and discovering that over a trillion dollars a year is tithed to churches, he learned that less than 6% is actually going outside the walls of the church. Nathan's app rates nonprofits and churches based on transparency of their finances and salaries so donors are educated about who they are giving their money to. For more info click below:
