On this episode of the 4 Fit Fatherhood Podcast Michael Cooper reminds us what life was like before we reached fatherhood. He shares his childhood and young life journey. Another pillar I fell maybe we don't touch enough is wealth so we dive into Life insurance and how you can use it to build wealth and leave legacy.

WHO IS MY FATHER? This question plagued Micheal Wellington for most of his life. Unfortunately, growing up without a father in the home has become a commonality in today's world.Just as he thought he had finally found him and started to build a relationship bad news hit.On this episode of the 4 Fit Fatherhood podcast, we sit down and talk about Coach Wellington's journey of being 'Fathered While Fatherless', which is also the title of his book, to being a father himself.--- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/4fitfatherhood/support
The comments section is in shambles yet again. A post from John Bernthal's Real Ones podcast has poured gasoline on an already well-lit fire. Get my take on the whole things as well as what I'm reading.
On the suggestion of a past guest I picked up Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters by Meg Meeker. Great book especially for girl dads like myself. I seriously suggest reading it or grabbing it on audible. Lastly, large in part to the dumpster fire that is my comments, I jumped into Nick Koumalatsos' book Excommunicated Warrior: The 7 Steps of Transition since he was the reason things blew up. So far so good.
A new guest episode will be dropping this Friday. I sat down for the second time with Micheal Wellington author of Fathered While Fatherless: A Son Finding His Way. In our original interview the sound sucked so we re-recorded because his story is one that I don't think you would want to miss.

In the 1989 Batman film, Batman gives the signal to the Gotham police force, enabling them to call him when the city was in danger. You are their superhero, their Batman. When they put out that signal you gotta show up.
On this solo episode of the @4fitfatherhood podcast I gather my thoughts on this past few weeks instagram posts and comments sections. Then I issue a challenge for all fit dads!

A two-year child custody battle took a troubling turn in 2021 when his ex-wife moved to Africa with their 6-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter. For months, Gaya Viaan, has been worked to get his children back home. Going months at a time with absolutely no contact with them which eventually caused him to start losing faith he would one day see them again.
This story is usually a movie starring Liam Neeson. Even though Gaya, doesn't possess a "special set of skills" his love for his children and his commitment to fatherhood wouldn't let him give up.
This is a must hear story.

Be present not perfect! Just being there is super important. A lot of times we will get things wrong and for that we must apologize, however it is that understanding that helps us become better. Fatherhood is a journey that we must all take one step at a time. For some of us it will be leaps and bounds while for other it may be tip toeing.
On this episode of the 4 Fit Fatherhood podcast I sat down with Shawn Serfass a talked about his fatherhood journey.
At 16 Shawn was on the verge of living the young athlete's dream. He was playing at a high level with multiple D1 offers when addiction kicked him off his path and eventually landed him behind bars.
Hear how Shawn has battled back to become a successful father, gym owner, and leader of a non-profit 2nd Chance Mentors that helps boys become men by providing leadership and lessons.

During quarantine while some of us were racking up screen time on Netflix. @rollandpolard started doing something he had always done. Being present with his family and coach cheer.
With gyms being shut down he started stunting with his now 6-year-old daughter, Jayden, and posting videos on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. The videos exploded and more than 10 million followers later he's still doing the same thing... Being present with his family.
We talked about how he and his family handle the social media stardom, managing entrepreneurship and fatherhood, as well as his journey to and through fatherhood this far.

IQ is still recognized as an important element of success, particularly when it comes to academic achievement. People with high IQs typically to do well in school, often earn more money, and tend to be healthier in general. But today experts recognize that IQ is not the only determinant of life success. Instead, it is part of a complex array of influences—one that includes emotional intelligence. Many companies now mandate emotional intelligence training and use EQ tests as part of the hiring process. Emotional Intelilgence or EQ refers to a person's ability to perceive, control, evaluate, and express emotions. Researchers such as John Mayer and Peter Salovey, as well as writers like Daniel Goleman, have helped shine a light on emotional intelligence, making it a hot topic in areas ranging from business management to education. EQ is centered on abilities such as:
Identifying emotions Evaluating how others feel Controlling one's own emotions Perceiving how others feel Using emotions to facilitate social communication and Relating to others
So you can see why this would be important for fathers

Often we're discouraged because of some tough challenge or obstacle in our way. But a shift in mindset from a Zen proverb can change everything: “The obstacle is the path.” The obstacle isn't something standing in our way. It's the way itself.

Emotional intelligence is the single most important influencing variable in personal achievement, career success, leadership, and life satisfaction. Emotional intelligence is the “something” in each of us that is a bit intangible. It affects how we manage behavior, navigate social complexities, and make personal decisions that achieve positive results. And Building emotional intelligence in children provides greater opportunity for deeper communication and understanding between parent and child, because you are sharing your thoughts and feelings on a regular basis.
That being said, it is extremely important for us as father to beef up our EQ. Our IQ may not change much after our formative years but your EQ can constantly be worked on and improved over time. So if you cant get smarter then you had better be emotionally savvy.

Exactly What to Say by Phil M. Jones delves into words, phrases, and questions that can help keep you in control of conversations and negotiations, making sales and influence more likely simply by changing a few small details about the way you speak. On this episode of the @4fitfatherhood podcast, we duve into another business of fatherhood segment. While anyone could benefit from this book and the advice it presents, it is heavily geared toward business people and, more specifically, salespeople. The advice will be most directly applicable to those regularly involved in sales. As fathers, whether we know it or not, we are constantly selling ourselves, our ideas, and our morals. Using these magic words can help you create a bigger impact in your relationships with your children and your significant other.

There are four ways you can be a dad. They relate to the four degrees of actions that every person can take in life. There is massive action, normal action, doing nothing, or retreating. Remember that everyone operates at these 4 levels of activity in different areas of their lives. You may be taking massive action for your finances while doing nothing for your physique. You can be retreating as a dad while being a normal husband. The point is that if you believe fatherhood is important, you need to be taking massive action as a dad.

On this weeks episode of the @4fitfatherhood podcast I shar what i learned from reading @the1thingbook
In 2022 I made a commitment to read 1 book a week. So far I'm on track and this weeks book is great for fathers
By focusing their energy on one thing at a time people are living more rewarding lives by building their careers, strengthening their finances, losing weight and getting in shape, deepening their faith, and nurturing stronger marriages and personal relationships.
YOU WANT LESS. You want fewer distractions and less on your plate. The daily barrage of e-mails, texts, tweets, messages, and meetings distract you and stress you out. The simultaneous demands of work and family are taking a toll. And what's the cost? Second-rate work, missed deadlines, smaller paychecks, fewer promotions--and lots of stress.
AND YOU WANT MORE. You want more productivity from your work. More income for a better lifestyle. You want more satisfaction from life, and more time for yourself, your family, and your friends.
NOW YOU CAN HAVE BOTH ― LESS AND MORE.
In The ONE Thing, you'll learn to:

Quick question...
Who are you when the alarm goes off in the AM?
When it's time to get up and you don't want to because you're so comfy in bed...
WHO ARE YOU in that moment?
On good days, of course you show up as your BEST self because you probably have motivation.
That's EASY...
That's NOT "THE WHO" I'm asking you about here.
I'm asking you about WHO you are when you're NOT motivated.
I want to know WHO you are when you're tired, sore and beat up from the craziness of DAD LIFE.
Who are you when the stresses build up?
When kids are going nuts not sleeping, their sick, or just not acting right...
When your jobs demanding longer hours, has challenging employees or co-workers, plus big deadlines and performance metrics to hit...
When your marriage is on the rocks and the relationship at home has started to suffer a bit...
WHO THE F*CK DO YOU SHOW UP AS THEN??
