Self-fulfilling prophecies vs. manifestation.. It can seem like a thin line between both of these terms. & for someone who struggles with anxiety this thin line can be terrifying.
A self fulfilling prophecy is a expectation or prediction that happens to become true due to the actions of the believer. So essentially we affirm our beliefs about someone or something or about ourselves by acting in a way that reinforces it.
An example would be if you’re trying to find red flags in a new relationship because you were in a unhealthy relationship before. So what you do is you act in a negative / insecure / defensive way around this person which may encourage the negative expectations you may have of them to come into fruition.
In comparison, you may hear people say “think happy thoughts because if you think negative ones they’ll come true” NO.
First of all breathe. You’re OK. We are constantly experiencing an influx of good and bad thoughts. We don’t have control over a lot of these inputs. They can come into our minds spontaneously due to a subconscious belief we have or they can pop up due to something we’ve watched. Think about it like this - if you think that a dog the size of a mountain is going to show up at your doorstep - is this thought now going to manifest itself ? Absolutely not. ( a dog size of a mountain would be sick tho).
Your thoughts are NOT that powerful even if you feel powerless because of the lack of control you have with how these thoughts circulate your mind.
Manifestation occurs from our subconscious thoughts and our conscious thoughts are a reflection of where there are potential blocks that are creating resistance in the manifestation process.
In order to retrieve the inner child , a lot of us need to heal them first. Healing from childhood traumas like narcissistic abuse requires taking time to properly grieve and let go of the narrative tied to those difficult experiences. Next is calling yourself out / identifying habits that are associated to your hurt inner child - by identifying these habits you can interrupt them and break the pattern. Then you can replace these habits with habits that do serve you. In order to retrieve the inner child - we can do a variety of things like writing letters as / to our inner child, saying nurturing healing affirmations and more. Smashing our ambitious goals comes down to smashing our daily minor but impactful decisions 80% of the time. Similar to the 80:20 rule, which we usually use when talking about our nutrition, as long as we can make positive decisions the majority of the time - we can get closer and closer to being en route to smashing our big goals. When we make marginal improvements in our lives, we retrain our bodies and minds to become disciplined at carrying out positive habits. The more we get conditioned to these positive small habits , the more likely we are to be able to accomplish bigger goals in life. This process is slow , unlike a temporary fix where we make our selves start a habit our bodies initially oppose. When we go 0 to 100 with our habits - our bodies and minds create resistance because it’s too big of a shock to our system. But if we can break this down to sizeable chunks, we can create healthy momentum which will avoid burn out , stress and demotivation. Instead we end up fostering compassion, patience and progress.
Are you comfortable staying at your job or are you actually just unsure what your purpose is? We all have passions in life and our passions typically fuel our purpose. Our purpose is also formed by our values and what service we want to provide others. In this episode , I break down what it means to integrate your purpose into your career and simple practical steps to align your purpose to your career.
I struggle coming up with new year resolutions because so much changes can happen on a monthly basis - from what your purpose is to what makes you most happy. I feel like breaking down my goals into easy to manage chunks has been a real game changer. It’ll avoid all the anxiety that comes with potentially not completing your new year resolution. On top of that flexible consistency is something I’ve recently started to implement into my life - it’s helped so much with my productivity and essentially it’s just having things your consistent with but without having to do these things in a specific monotonous way. One day you meditate at 8 am and the next day you’ve only got some time for 2 mins of breath work on the train. That’s okay! You’ve stuck to it and this shift in perspective will shape the way you view your to-do list and it should have a huge impact on your happiness too! P.s the to do list I use on my iPhone is indeed called “Todoist”.
hey I’m back and rebranded! I decided to rebrand because I no longer resonated with my last pod name for the reasons I address in the episode. I want to be able to speak about things from an even more authentic and genuine place and I felt that the rebrand was a move into a new direction. Grateful for ya’ll xoxoxo
The THAT girl trend promotes toxic productivity because it assumes that health and wellness needs to look a certain way for it to be productive. It can encourage self doubt and lack of self love. It’s not that the habits are bad because in fact they’re great. However, it is the current mainstream portrayal of it, which romanticises the “perfect” health and wellness routine which should be carried out all the time. Whereas, it is merely a segment into someone’s life. Not everyone documents their bad days - so most of the time it truly is just a small window into someone’s life. The remainder of the episode discusses the ways in which you can start protecting your inner peace and customising your own health and wellness routine that works for you. This extends beyond nutrition and working out but also who you choose to spend time with , what you feed your mind and whether or not you have boundaries set in place.

In this episode, Matilda breaks down what imposter syndrome is and the different sub categories of it. She talks about some relatable real world examples and then goes into the ways we can overcome imposter syndrome. At end of the day, imposter syndrome comes from severe self doubt linked to subconscious beliefs, no metric in place to assess our successes and the fear of judgement. You’re not alone, this sadly affects a lot of us but there is a way to overcome it. Find out the ways in this episode.
In this episode, Matilda talks about the business she started with her friend Samantha. She dives in to the core purpose of their brand and how they’re going to execute their brand’s purpose and vision; through building a supportive community, sustainable clothing, digital couture and NFTs.
In episode 7, Matilda talks about experiencing trust issues after a bad breakup, being stabbed in the back by a good friend or after doing something against your values and moral compass. In order to feel secure and safe again after having the people we love and respect betray us - we need to tune into ourselves again - into our own sense of self, self love and self worth. When someone does something horrible to us, due to the way we have become conditioned - we tend to blame ourselves because we think for someone to do something that horrible — it must be a reflection of our own flaws. This is simply false (99% of the time). This podcast also focuses on what we can do looking forwards to safeguard our mental health when we find our selves in a similar situation again ( essentially damage control). The first thing is acknowledging that you can have a deep connection with someone but also have boundaries to create healthy detachment. We also need to start trusting our gut instinct more because our gut truly stores the eyes of the future - it is our inner psychic. Let’s call out the red flags before they even show up!
In this episode, Matilda encourages you to never stop believing and trusting that things will work out and are working out for you. Regardless of the delay between asking and receiving - as long as we stick to the work, the activity, the dedication and belief in ourselves - we will see the results eventually. There's always going to be hurdles before something incredibly amazing and major comes into fruition. However, there is also always an opportunity for growth from the ebbs and flows of life. If we can stick to rewiring our mindset using the tools of law of attraction such as meditation and ‘gratifirmations' (matilda's made up word for gratitude and affirmations) coupled with effective work towards our goals - we will see the results. So let us all believe in ourselves a little extra today and a little deeper and trust that it's already working out..
In this episode, Matilda dives in to the 6 big questions we all need to ask ourselves more often to help us decide whether or not we should leave or stay at our current job or relationship. There are some really helpful questions that can force us to assess whether or not our job / relationship aligns with our values and future life goals. We shouldn’t have to settle simply because we aren’t asking the right questions. This episode is a really important one!
Have you ever been so obsessed with your work that you’re constantly working? Have you ever felt so tired and you don’t know why? Have you ever felt so demotivated even though you love your job? These are the telltale signs that you are nearing or at risk of a burnout! In episode 4, Matilda talks you through how you know you’re facing a burnout and the different things you can do on a daily basis to avoid burnout. This includes taking intentional breaks between tasks, taking two weekends off every month for yourself and the people you love and embracing alone time with yourself and your mind! It is truly so healing to our energy , our creativity and our productivity when we allow ourselves to take damn breaks!
In episode 3, Matilda talks about how we can value ourselves, our time, our space and our energy more. We can start by placing physical and emotional boundaries between friends, partners, home life, work life and more. We can have healthy expectations of others out of respect for ourselves. Last but not least, we can learn to appreciate that growth and self-love are not mutually exclusive because they can and should exist simultaneously.
In episode 2, Matilda discusses what she learnt about life and herself from living alone. How silence can make us better listeners of ourselves. The many ways to enjoy your own company. The extremes of emotions we face when we are alone and what this can teach or make us realise. Lastly, she talks about how being alone allows us to practice self awareness and therefore improve our ability to love ourselves better and therefore love other people better too.
