The Lied Center premiered a song cycle commissioned by the Cather Project, Prairie Songs: Remembering Antonia. Prairie Songs is an hour long song cycle with piano, voice, and violin.
This song cycle is composed by Brent Edstrom, Washington State Music Teachers Composer of the Year, and features the voice of Fremont native and Glenn Korff School of Music alumnus Scott Miller (DMA 2006), associate professor of music at Whitworth University in Spokane, Wash. Tana Bachman-Bland will lend her talents on violin.

You've probably benefited from the legacy of Ernst F. Lied because the list of his gifts is long: Hixson-Lied College of Fine and Performing Arts. The Lied Jungle. The Lied Transplant Center. The Lied Humane Society Center. Lied Public Libraries in Randolph, Scottsbluff, Carroll, Imperial, Battle Creek and Winside.
The first gift from the Lied Foundation Trust was UNL's Lied Center for Performing Arts. The most recent gift is an addition to that building, the new Lied Commons, a multi-purpose space with a panoramic view of the campus that opened in the Fall of 2012.
