You can find more information about the survivor tree here: The Survivor Tree | National September 11 Memorial & Museum (911memorial.org)

Quoted by Sarah:

Rise up, feeling all the heat
Keep up, chasing all your dreams
To reach the destiny that you always deserve

Make your day dreams a reality
Be ready to face death to make them true
To tell a tale that deserves place aside legends

Sweat your blood to make a champion's champagne
Melt your strength to make your dreams a golden truth
To reach the heights that were never thought of before

Leave all your sorrows and weaknesses in your closet
Wear a shield of courage and suit of determination
To bury the ghosts of past and to win a trophy of new beautiful life

Prasanth Kumar

“The phoenix. The gentlest and most wonderful of its kind. Mesmerizing beauty and brilliant colour. Its cry synonymous to a lovely song. But comes time, consumes itself in its own magnificent flame. And from its own ashes, will rise and reborn anew.” – Kahit Minsan

In the episode, Sarah teaches about acceptance and surrender to work through your emotions so you don't just avoid them and engage in unhealthy patterns.

Here are the steps Sarah outlines in this episode:

1-            Start by accepting your life circumstances

2-           Lean into the pain of your experiences

3-           Turn towards instead of away from the pain you are experiencing.

4-          Instead of ruminating in pain, describe the pain you are experiencing

5-           How would it feel to accept your emotions, grief, loss, PTSD or even feelings of sadness?

6-          How would it feel to accept you emotions without labeling them or judging but instead understanding the emotions that are present?

7-           Practice Gratitude start with where you are right now today, even if you have very little you are grateful for. Engage in acknowledging something that is working well for you. Then build on that.

8-          Practice holding your emotions, holding space and allowing them to be there.
