In this episode we interviewed Kyle Buckland, an Appalachian artist who captures the essence of Appalachia, mostly through plein air Impressionism. We had a lot of fun with this interview, where we talked about how the mountains inspire us and what made us fall in love with Appalachia in the first place!

We talk about the Spanish explorers who came to the region in the 1500s, and we will also discuss the settlement of the region by groups such as the Scots-Irish, Germans, the French, the British, Italians, various Eastern European groups, and even the Roma! Welcome to Episode 0 of Hill Talk: An Appalachian Podcast! This is our first episode, and we are very excited! In this episode, we will introduce ourselves and the podcast. We will discuss our own personal connections with Appalachia, as well as what to expect from future episodes. In this episode, we will briefly touch upon subjects such as the formation of the Appalachian Mountains, the various peoples that have settled in the region, and the Appalachian environment including flora and fauna.
