When opposition comes, where will you turn? In Acts 12, a king of this world flexes—James is executed, Peter is jailed, and Herod basks in applause. But the church answers with its true weapon: earnest prayer. Walk through the chapter’s three acts—Martyred, Miracle, Multiplied—and watch the great reversal: the chapter opens with James dead, Peter imprisoned, and Herod triumphant; it closes with Herod dead, Peter free, and “the word of God increased and multiplied.” This message presses the Burn Your Boats call to go all-in with Jesus: trust the risen King, endure opposition, and pray like it matters.

A church can be orthodox, active, and moral—yet still fail. If love for Jesus isn’t central, everything else loses its value. Theological clarity without love can become cold, lifeless, and proud. Jesus is calling us to return to that first love—because He first loved us.
As John Stott put it, ‘The cross is the blazing fire at which the flame of our love is kindled, but we have to get near enough to it for its sparks to fall on us.’
