Trista takes Justin on a deep dive into Jungian shadow work.  Shadow work is more than just self reflection.  Shadow work is a type of psychotherapy that focuses on the “shadow self,” which is the parts of the psyche that people often keep hidden, such as trauma and resentment. It is an introspective psychological practice that anyone can do and can lead to a more fulfilling life. When working with the shadow, you may have moments of awakening that lead to greater authenticity, creativity, and emotional freedom

“Vulnerability sounds like truth and feels like courage. Truth and courage aren’t always comfortable, but they are never weakness.”- Brene’ Brown

On Sunday, we took a trip down a painful and vulnerable past of unhealthy habits and disordered eating. A story I carried alongside me, buried in shame, for almost 2 decades. A few weeks ago, I stood at a podium in the very walls I learned those unhealthy habits & spoke to youth about the ways I’ve been able to conquer it. Standing inside my old high school walls was empowering but also brought up a lot of memories that I had locked away. Looking back, I wish I could have told the younger version of me, that I was so much more than any number on a scale. That was worth was never measured by my weight. We can’t change our past but we can use it as a tool to show up better for ourselves as we continue this journey.

If you or anyone you know struggles with body image and distorted eating patterns, I hope you give this a listen. If you have any questions or need someone to talk to, please feel free to message me directly. Trista Lynn Long

What's up everybody, we are back!  Excited to finally get on the mic's and talk about something.  This is the best episode we've done.  We took time over the break got better at a few things AND our guest is fantastic. The quality of our content is getting better and we're inexperienced but getting better.  When you're green you're growing and when you're ripe you're rotten.  We have lots to discuss in the next few weeks.  None more important than how to deal with toxic family members.  We talk racist uncles, overbearing aunts and intrusive grandmas (relax mom) with Tony B from The Grey Path.

If you feel offended or attacked at any point during this, ask yourself why.  After an honest reflection and you're the cause of some strife, relax, just be mindful.  If you can't tell if you're the toxic one or you just have high anxiety.  Seek advice from a trusted confidant, preferably a professional.

Go follow Tony on iTunes, google, Audible and every other podcasting provider.  THANKS!! #mentalhealth #mentalhealthawareness #mentorship #mentalhealthsupport #thegreypath #podcasts #family #Thanksgiving #toxicrelationships
