Yea! We’re special. We’re the only country in the world with a debt ceiling. Also, it just happens to be unconstitutional. But of course, reading the Constitution is apparently not considered cool by those inside the Beltway.

The GOP always promotes cutting taxes. That’s popular but, while it gets them re-elected, they spend like drunken sailors. Somehow, the debt gets larger. Somehow, the Democrats get blamed, though many of them do use the same rule-book.
What it is supposed to be. What it isn’t. How Athenians practiced it. How we abuse the concept. Then just what are we if not a democracy? Don’t jump to the conclusion that its opposite is called a republic.

These words include democracy, republic, capitalism, socialism, fascism and free market. You likely will be surprised that they are usually used incorrectly.

I favor people over corporations and diplomacy over fisticuffs but recognize that in this world we need more arrows in our quiver. I am very much a sceptic and frequently offer unusual perspectives.
