I'm visiting 52 churches in 52 weeks to uncover best practices and lessons to help double the church in the US. This episode contains insights from church #4 in Midlothian, Virginia: Chapel RVA.

Here are some questions from this episode to help churches, those following Christ, and those seeking a church:

  • How does proximity and church time affect church attendance?

  • Can early worship services (ex. 8:15) be well attended?

  • Consider if your facilities, including the parking lot, are accessible.

  • Does it matter what people wear to church and why?

  • What pride do we take in our appearance?

  • How do we judge those who don't look like "we think they should."

  • Are you living a life of joy and hope or are you stuck in "a time to mourn?"

  • Pastors, remember to tell people what's coming up!

Note: I meant to mention in the video that I talked to a woman after the service and asked her if the attendance at the 8:15 a.m. service was normal, and she said it's like that every week.

  • A satellite campus (the lead pastor is streamed in vs. being there live) can work and is an option to consider as you double your church.
  • Does the way a pastor looks and dresses influence whether or not you'd listen to them? Is that Biblical?
  • What's the reputation of your church? Do you know what the reputation is in the community?
  • Is hospitality essential or a nice to have? Does your church practice excellent hospitality? How could it improve?
  • Do you help build the church?
  • Do you know how to share your Jesus story?
  • Are you actively praying for opportunities to introduce Jesus to those around you who are far from Jesus?

I'm 16 weeks in, and I'm beginning to get thoughts posted. Tonight, I posted thoughts and tips from church two. Here are some of the related thoughts:

  • Be aware about your preferences and how they could limit you

  • Stop judging other churches unless they deserve it

  • Turn intention into action

  • Culture is missing out on sacred wisdom

  • Make evangelism and apologetics a priority
