This podcast will help you break the pattern of unhappy achieving and make crushing your goals feel like self-care. It's part Beast Mode and part Manifesting Goddess. We are combining a ferocious work ethic with the Law of Attraction. Become the energetic match for your desires. Fall in love with the journey. Take massive action in a high vibrational state. Create miracles and magic.
You’ve journaled about the pattern. You understand the trigger. You’ve uncovered the limiting belief, named the wound, and written three pages about what happened.
So why are you still repeating the same behaviour?
In this episode, Kayla explores the number one reason journaling and inner work often fail to create lasting change: awareness alone doesn’t execute. Mechanisms do.
Using her Awareness to Authorship to Action framework, Kayla shares how she discovered that many of her most important lessons were repeating because they had never been attached to a specific ritual, routine, trigger, checklist, or decision script.
She walks through two real-life examples, including how she created an intentional transition from Fire Brain into Ocean Brain after deep work and how a five-step morning checklist stopped email and business tasks from hijacking her day.
You’ll learn how to take your best journal insights out of the notebook, put handles on your poems, and turn what you know into something you can actually live.
Plus, you’ll leave with a simple embodied activation and a bonus practice for anyone who needs help shifting out of overwork mode and back into their body.

What happens when the life you built to earn approval collapses publicly?
In this raw, funny and deeply inspiring conversation, I’m joined by writer and Go Regulate Yourself podcast host Brianne Roberge to talk about the death and rebirth that brought her back to the dream she had carried since childhood.
Brianne shares how she moved from nursing into coaching, rapidly expanded her business and then lost everything when the company failed. What followed was an attempted public cancellation involving hundreds of hostile messages, widespread online criticism and even anonymous death threats.
But inside that devastating experience, Brianne uncovered the truth beneath the life she had built: she had been making decisions through people-pleasing, external validation and the desire to prove her worth.
We talk about leaving nursing and coaching behind, finding the confidence to write, using social media without walking on eggshells, responding to criticism without absorbing other people’s projections and the wonderfully dual meaning behind Go Regulate Yourself.
Brianne also shares a powerful embodied exercise for looking beneath the obvious symptoms of a problem and discovering the deeper wound, belief or unmet need that may actually be driving it.
This episode is a potent conversation about public failure, shame, reinvention, boundaries, writing, self-trust and answering your purpose when the universe stops sending pebbles and starts throwing boulders.

In this small-but-mighty episode of the Embodied Writing Warrior podcast, Kayla shares a powerful reframe for anyone who has been obsessing over the scoreboard instead of actually playing the game.
Whether the “scoreboard” is the scale, your nutrition streak, your bank account, your business results, your social media engagement, or any other external metric, it is easy to become so focused on the outcome that you lose presence, play, and personal power in the process.
Through a basketball metaphor, tennis wisdom from Maria Sharapova, and a real behind-the-scenes example from Kayla’s own food freedom journey, this episode explores the difference between outcome commitments and process commitments. You will learn why losses can become powerful comeback portals, how repair rituals help rebuild self-trust, and why play may be the missing ingredient in your consistency.
Kayla also shares how she shifted from trying to force “emerald heart” results to creating better afternoon and evening structures, including emotion coaching, ocean brain returns, time blocking, timers, and playful reward scenes with Rex and Haven.
If you have been stuck in frustration, impatience, or scoreboard stalking, this episode will help you return to the moves, plays, rituals, and daily actions that make progress feel powerful, embodied, and maybe even fun again.

What happens when life doesn’t just fall apart once, but twice?
In this episode of the Embodied Writing Warrior podcast, I’m joined by Sass Schaeffer, registered dietician, certified personal trainer, mindset coach, and host of Practice Your Positive Daily. Sass shares the story of being laid off and having her house flood in the same year, then experiencing both all over again less than a year later.
But instead of simply rebuilding the same life, Sass took the second collapse as an invitation to rebuild herself.
We talk about the difference between healing and true identity reconstruction, why so many high-performing women get stuck in survival mode, and how to begin creating a new version of yourself through nervous system regulation, self-trust, and bold embodied action.
This conversation is especially powerful for women in midlife, women navigating unexpected life changes, and anyone who feels like they’ve outgrown the old life but doesn’t quite know who they’re becoming yet.
Inside this episode, we explore:
Why rebuilding your life is different from rebuilding your identity
How survival mode blocks creativity, clarity, and future vision
Why self-trust begins with small decisions
The role of bold action in anchoring your next identity
Why the messy middle is where so many women quit
How action creates clarity, especially when you’ve been overthinking
The power of choosing a theme song to embody your next self
This episode is a beautiful reminder that when the old structure falls apart, you don’t have to rush to put the same pieces back in the same places. You get to ask who you’re becoming now.

What if discipline isn’t the problem, but the missing elements underneath it are?
In this episode of Embodied Writing Warrior, Kayla explores the two essential elements that keep discipline, body transformation, and desire from slipping into diet culture: earth and water.
After a behind-the-scenes experience using AI to edit her upcoming book, Kayla opens a spicy and nuanced conversation about the gendered double standard around women, weight loss, ambition, and body transformation. Why does a man’s transformation story often get celebrated as discipline and self-improvement, while a woman’s similar desire gets flagged as risky, shame-based, or anti-feminist?
From there, Kayla breaks down the difference between diet culture-coded discipline and a love-powered, self-sourced transformation journey. Through the elemental framework of earth, water, fire, air, and ether, she explains why earth safety and body cooperation must come before fire, and why water’s unconditional self-love is what keeps ambition from becoming self-attack.
This episode is for the high-performing woman who wants food freedom, self-love, body trust, and desire without being shoved into a courtroom every time she admits she wants change.
Because your worth is not up for debate.
Your body is not the enemy.
And your fire does not need to be dimmed. It needs to be aimed.

In this deeply personal episode of The Embodied Writing Warrior Podcast, Kayla opens up a nuanced conversation about visibility, body confidence, food freedom, and the difference between a true visibility block and what she calls a medium mismatch.
If you’ve been told you simply need to “show up more,” “be more visible,” or “get over your visibility blocks,” but certain platforms leave you feeling drained, dysregulated, angry, self-conscious, or disconnected from your body, this episode is for you.
Kayla explores why some forms of visibility feel liberating for one woman and deeply performative or unsafe for another, especially for women with histories of body pressure, appearance-based evaluation, personal training, coaching, performance industries, sex work-adjacent environments, modeling, auditioning, or any situation where the body became a business card.
She also shares how forcing misaligned visibility can impact binge eating, emotional eating, cravings, burnout, creativity, and self-trust, and why your body might not be blocking you from success. It might be giving you wisdom.
This episode is an invitation to stop outsourcing your visibility strategy to internet gurus and start choosing mediums that match your nervous system, your message, your creativity, and your actual life.

What if the reason consistency feels so hard isn’t because you’re lazy, broken, or undisciplined… but because your nervous system is addicted to intensity?
In this episode, we’re talking about boring devotion: the capacity to keep showing up for the simple, mundane, repeated reps that actually create lasting transformation.
If you’re a high-performing creative woman who thrives on breakthroughs, drama, chaos, big emotions, and all-or-nothing momentum, this episode is going to be deep medicine.
We’ll explore why so many women only trust transformation when it feels intense, how chaos keeps you distracted from your purpose, and why boring devotion might be the missing skill that makes food freedom, fitness, business growth, and identity change sustainable.
Inside this episode, you’ll learn:
And, of course, we’ll talk about how Food Freedom Fantasy lets you bring magic, story, and a little spice into the boring reps without needing chaos to feel alive.
If you’re ready to stop yo-yoing, rushing, spiraling, or waiting for one more breakthrough to save you, this episode is your invitation into steadier, sexier, more sustainable devotion.

Is it perfectionism… or is it the woman you’re becoming?
In this episode, we’re continuing the perfectionism conversation with a more nuanced lens. Because yes, perfectionism can absolutely keep high-performing women trapped in cycles of yo-yoing, binge eating, inconsistency, and burnout. But sometimes, the fear of being “too rigid” or “too perfectionistic” can become the very thing that keeps you operating below your capacity.
This episode explores how to tell the difference between shame-based perfectionism and an identity-building standard. You’ll learn why the difference is not always in what you’re doing, but in the why and the how behind it.
We’re talking about:
This is not an episode about proving your worth through discipline. You are already worthy, lovable, and enough.
This is an episode about asking: what standards would actually support the life, body, peace, self-trust, and capacity you desire?
Because maybe it’s not perfectionism.
Maybe it’s just the growing pains of becoming her.

In this episode of the Embodied Writing Warrior Podcast, I’m joined by Katie Laporte for a powerful conversation on authorship, reality creation, gratitude, creativity, embodiment, and reclaiming your role as the author of your own life.
Katie is someone whose insights around creativity, authorship, and creating your own reality deeply inspired me to take a six-month social media break so I could come back to my own creativity, deep work, and inner authority. This conversation is such a perfect fit for this show because we explore what it really means to stop being authored by the outside world and start creating your life from the inside out.
Together, we talk about the difference between awareness and authorship, why your words and agreements shape your reality, how creativity and making things with your hands can become part of healing, and why the body has to come with you when you are shifting into a new identity.
We also explore gratitude as a full-body practice, movement and dance as tools for creative women with high-voltage energy, and the responsibility and freedom of choosing who you become in relationship to your past.
This episode is for the creative woman, writer, entrepreneur, artist, mother, or deep feeler who is ready to reclaim her power, stop outsourcing her reality, and remember that she is the author now.

In this episode of the Embodied Writing Warrior podcast, Kayla is sharing a spicy and deeply practical reframe on habit streaks, consistency, and food freedom.
After years of tracking habits, building streaks, and personally experiencing both the power and the pressure of long-term consistency, Kayla breaks down the important difference between a traditional habit streak and what she calls a “food freedom streak.”
A traditional habit streak can help you build the identity you desire: writer, creative, musician, entrepreneur, athlete, or consistent human who actually keeps promises to herself.
But a food freedom streak can sometimes become perfectionism in disguise.
If you have ever tried to become the woman who “never binges again,” “never emotionally eats again,” or “never falls off track again,” this episode will help you understand why that approach can actually keep you stuck in the very identity you are trying to outgrow.
Kayla explores four ways food freedom streaks can reinforce old patterns, fuel perfectionism, and make it harder to recover after an off night. She also shares the skill that outperforms rigid consistency every time: repair.
Because for high-performing women, the real transformation is often not learning how to be consistent. It is learning how to come home to yourself quickly after a moment of inconsistency.
In this episode, you’ll learn:
This episode is for the high-performing woman who is tired of treating every off night like proof that she has failed.
You do not need a perfect streak to become free.
You need a way back to yourself.

In this final episode of the seven-part series on the Seven Deadly Sins of High-Performing Women, we’re talking about destination addiction: the belief that happiness, peace, confidence, safety, or worthiness will finally arrive once you hit a specific goal.
Maybe it’s the goal weight. The business milestone. The relationship. The financial number. The future version of you who finally has it all together.
But what happens when you either never quite get there, or you do get there and still don’t feel the way you thought you would?
In this episode, I’m unpacking how destination addiction drives binge eating, burnout, chronic pressure, and self-abandonment, especially for high-performing women who have been praised for chasing, proving, and pushing.
We’ll explore why this pattern is often rooted in younger parts of us trying to escape old pain, why the future destination becomes a permission slip for worthiness, and how to shift from destination addiction into what I’m calling holy obsession.
Not obsession with escaping your life.
Obsession with authorship.
Obsession with becoming.
Obsession with being the woman who can feel the hurt, hold herself through it, and keep going without abandoning herself.
This episode includes personal reflections on weight loss, plateaus, younger parts, Food Freedom Fantasy, Rex and Haven, and the deeper emotional bargains we often make with the universe when pain feels too big to hold.
If you’ve ever thought, “I’ll finally be happy when…” this episode is for you.

In episode six of the Seven Deadly Sins of High-Performing Women series, we’re talking about the sin of Living in the Gap.
Inspired by The Gap and the Gain by Dan Sullivan and Dr. Benjamin Hardy, this episode explores what happens when you’re constantly measuring yourself against how far you still have to go instead of how far you’ve already come.
For high-performing women, this gap mindset can feel productive. It can even feel noble, humble, or motivating. But underneath the surface, it often creates chronic dissatisfaction, pressure, burnout, emotional eating, binge eating, and those familiar “F it” moments where one imperfect choice turns into a full spiral.
In this episode, we explore the macro and micro versions of living in the gap, how this mindset gets socially rewarded in women, and why positive emotion is actually more powerful for long-term habit change than shame, pressure, or self-criticism.
You’ll also learn the concept of anchored ambition: the ability to want more, pursue your big vision, and move toward your next level while staying rooted in presence, self-worth, celebration, and joy right now.
Inside this conversation, we also explore how the Fire Starter and Sanctuary archetypes work together inside Food Freedom Fantasy to help you hold both ambition and embodiment, future vision and present-moment safety.
This episode ends with a simple embodied activation to help you connect with your North Star identity and take one aligned action as her for seven days in a row.
Because your ambition is not the problem.
The fire is not the problem.
The wanting is not the problem.
The healing is learning how to stop abandoning yourself on the way there.

What if your cravings, snack runs, or “I just need something” moments aren’t a lack of discipline… but a part of you trying to protect your joy?
In this fifth episode of the Seven Deadly Sins of the High-Performing Woman series, we’re diving into the sin of Operating From Pressure through a creative, personal case study in parts work gone wild.
You’ll meet Girl Boss, the inner pusher part who believes safety, love, and success come from doing more, achieving more, and never slowing down. You’ll also meet Unicorn Thunder, the inner firefighter who often shows up through food, cravings, play, rebellion, and pleasure-seeking when joy has been ignored for too long.
This episode explores why pressure may create temporary movement, but devotion creates lasting momentum. We’ll look at how pusher parts are often formed in childhood, why softness and pleasure can feel threatening to high-capacity women, and how binge eating or emotional eating may be a sign that your system is trying to reclaim relief, rest, and joy in the only way it knows how.
Inside this episode, you’ll learn how to move from pressure to devotion by giving your mind a break, reconnecting with your body, infusing play into your goals, and creating a healthier relationship with the parts of you that want food, comfort, rest, and pleasure.
This is the kind of inner child work designed for creative, high-performing women who don’t necessarily want to draw an inner garden, but would absolutely turn their journal entries into healing fan fiction.
Because sometimes the part of you ordering Pizza Hut at night isn’t the villain.
She might just be the getaway driver trying to rescue your joy.

In this episode of the Seven Deadly Sins of High-Performing Women series, we’re talking about outsourcing your worth: the endless pursuit of validation from other people, vanity metrics, the scale, social media numbers, podcast downloads, income, approval, or anything outside of yourself.
For high-performing women, this pattern gets rewarded constantly. You’re praised for performing, achieving, staying obedient, being “good,” chasing the numbers, and making yourself acceptable. But when your worth lives outside of you, you put your sense of self in the hands of something you can never fully control.
And that is a recipe for burnout, emotional eating, self-sabotage, and deep disconnection.
In this conversation, we explore why outsourcing worth creates so much inner pressure, how it contributes to binge eating and burnout, and why self-sourced worth is one of the most powerful shifts you can make.
We also talk about Steve Magness’ work on external regulation and performance, the trap of vanity metrics, the difference between feedback and worshipping the numbers, and one of the most powerful pieces of advice I’ve ever received:
Let it bless you first.
Whether it’s your health journey, your creative work, your podcast, your business, your body goals, or your personal growth, this episode is an invitation to stop proving your worth and start creating from self-trust, beauty, devotion, play, and inner authority.
You’ll also hear how Haven and Rex, my inner Sanctuary and Fire Starter archetypes, helped me move through a recent moment of podcast metric spiral and come back to my own authorship.
Because your worth is not up for debate.
And self-trust is the KPI that matters most.

In this powerful installment of the Seven Deadly Sins of the High-Performing Woman series, we’re talking about performing: the exhausting habit of curating yourself for approval, likability, competence, relatability, or applause.
Kayla explores what performing looks like in real life, from only showing the highlight reel, to hiding in struggle, to downplaying your brilliance so other people stay comfortable. She also shares the deeper reason she ended her 100 Days to Slay challenge on day 78, and why stepping back from social media became part of a much bigger healing.
Inside this episode, we explore how performing fuels burnout, binge eating, emotional suppression, and disconnection from self, and what it looks like to shift into the higher expression of this pattern: performing for an audience of one.
Or, if you’re in the Food Freedom Fantasy universe... an audience of three.
This episode is for the woman who is tired of living for the algorithm, other people’s comfort, or moving goalposts of approval, and ready to build a life, body, and business rooted in self-respect, internal validation, and sacred self-witnessing.

High-performing women are often rewarded for rushing.
For moving faster.
For doing more.
For squeezing one more task into the day.
For chasing the result as quickly as possible.
But what if rushing is not a productivity hack?
What if it is one of the hidden patterns driving binge eating, burnout, shutdown, and nervous system dysregulation?
In part two of this seven-part series, Kayla explores the sin of rushing through a nervous system lens. She breaks down what rushing looks like in shadow form, why so many ambitious women normalize it, and how living in chronic urgency can push the body toward burnout, freeze, and disconnection from self.
Inside this episode, you’ll learn the difference between fight-style rushing and flight-style rushing, why speed can become so seductive, and how to shift into a healthier form of momentum that supports your goals without frying your system.
Kayla also introduces the higher expression of rushing: constraint as catalyst. Instead of frantic urgency, this is intentional intensity. Self-chosen pace. Clean focus. Flow-state effort. The kind of speed that sharpens you instead of scattering you.
You’ll also hear a grounding reflection from Haven on what it means to become trustworthy with your own pace, plus embodied activations to help you work with this pattern in real life.
If you’ve ever felt like your life is always moving too fast, your body never fully exhales, or your binges tend to come after periods of pressure and overdrive, this episode will hit home.

What happens when the version of spirituality you were handed was never built to hold the fullness of who you are?
In this powerful conversation, I’m joined by Wren Morrow, an outdoor boudoir and erotic adventure photographer who creates deeply embodied, nature-based experiences for women and couples. We talk about the healing power of being witnessed, the way shame gets lodged in women’s bodies, and how reclaiming visibility can become a spiritual act.
We also go deep into religion, purity culture, sexual shame, and the journey of creating a spiritual path that actually feels true. Wren shares her story of growing up in the Bible Belt, being deeply immersed in church culture, and eventually finding her way back to a more alive, embodied, self-led relationship with the sacred.
This episode is not about telling you what to believe. It’s about giving you permission to listen to yourself more deeply, question what no longer fits, and remember that your body, your intuition, and your direct experience matter.

Welcome back to Embodied Writing Warrior for the start of a fiery new series: The Seven Deadly Sins of the High-Performing Woman.
In this first episode, we’re tackling one of the most culturally rewarded and personally exhausting patterns of all: overworking.
If you’re the kind of woman who fills every blank space on her calendar, pushes through exhaustion, and confuses pressure with devotion, this one is going to hit. We’re unpacking why overworking gets praised in work, wellness, and everyday life, how it quietly fuels binge eating, emotional eating, and burnout, and what it looks like to alchemize this pattern into something far more sustainable: devoted consistency.
Inside this episode, I explore:
You’ll also hear from Haven, who offers a powerful reminder that slowing down is not failure, it’s how your power gathers.
This episode is also extra special because it lands on the one-year anniversary of the Divine Daddies. Rex and Haven are joining me throughout this series as we turn each so-called sin into embodied power.

What if one of the biggest things keeping high-performing women stuck in binge eating, burnout, self-sabotage, and chronic inconsistency is not laziness, lack of discipline, or low standards... but pressure?
In this episode of Embodied Writing Warrior, Kayla breaks down the life-changing distinction between pressure and devotion and why confusing the two can quietly sabotage your relationship with food, your body, your business, and your peace.
You’ll learn why pressure is not the badge of honor our culture makes it out to be, how it creates chronic stress and self-betrayal, and why devotion is the far more powerful path to lasting change. Kayla also shares three practical ways to stop operating from pressure, normalize your manifestations, and begin untangling your self-worth from productivity.
This is the episode for the woman who knows how to chase big goals... but is ready to actually feel safe, present, and happy inside the life she’s creating.

What if your struggle with food was never about laziness, lack of discipline, or weak willpower?
In this episode of Embodied Writing Warrior, I’m joined by Christie Sousa for a powerful conversation about the link between ADHD, binge eating, food fixation, dopamine-seeking, and nervous system regulation. Christie shares her personal story of being diagnosed with ADHD twice, how food sensitivities and restrictive dieting shaped her relationship with food from a young age, and why so many neurodivergent women end up blaming themselves for patterns that make complete sense through the lens of brain wiring.
We talk about executive dysfunction, demand avoidance, all-or-nothing thinking, food hyperfixation, emotional regulation, and why traditional wellness advice often misses the mark for ADHD brains. Christie also shares practical tools that can help, including shorter experimentation windows, simplifying decisions, removing trigger foods, using accountability, and moving your body daily to support dopamine and emotional balance.
If you’ve ever felt like food had a charge around it, like you were locked in a cycle of obsession, shame, and “starting over,” this episode will help you understand your patterns with more compassion and a whole lot less self-blame.

What if binge eating isn’t the sabotage… but the aftermath?
In this episode of Embodied Writing Warrior, I’m unpacking a sneaky upper limit pattern that high-performing women rarely recognize for what it is. We’re talking about what happens when life gets better, you achieve the thing, and instead of letting yourself enjoy it, your system starts generating pressure.
Pressure to keep the body.
Pressure to prove you deserve the breakthrough.
Pressure to make the success “worth it.”
Pressure to do something huge with what you’ve just created.
And when that pressure builds? It often spills into burnout, emotional eating, binge eating, restlessness, and self-sabotage.
This episode is inspired in part by The Big Leap by Gay Hendricks, but we’re taking the conversation deeper into the reality of high-performing women, food struggles, and the hidden emotional mechanics behind why it can feel easier to achieve the thing than to peacefully sustain it.
Inside this episode, I cover:
If you’ve ever gotten the thing you wanted, only to feel restless, panicked, pressured, or pulled back into old habits right after, this episode is going to hit.
And this is just Part 1. Part 2 is coming next week.

What happens when parts work becomes not just healing, but alive?
In this powerful conversation, Kayla sits down with Caner to explore the deep parallels between Food Freedom Fantasy, spicy parts work, archetypal healing, and his own work around inner family practice, self-archeology, and integrating the inner feminine.
If you’ve been listening for a while, you know one of the most powerful parts of Kayla’s Food Freedom Fantasy modality has been spicy parts work with masculine archetypes. Together, they explore:
This episode is especially for you if you’ve ever felt like you were fighting yourself, stuck in “me vs. me,” or craving a more creative, loving, embodied way to heal.

What if you were never meant to heal like an onion?
In this episode of Embodied Writing Warrior, we dismantle the old “onion theory” of growth and reclaim a far more powerful framework: you are not a fragile bundle of layers to peel back until you’re finally fixed... you are a force of nature.
Kayla explores the difference between the outdated idea of linear healing and the truth of the upward spiral. Using the metaphor of a tornado, she shows how setbacks, relapses, and recurring struggles are not proof that you’re broken or back at square one. They may actually be evidence that you are returning to the same lesson with more wisdom, more mastery, and more power.
Inside this episode, Kayla shares:
If you’ve been asking, Why am I here again? I thought I was past this, this episode will give you a radically more compassionate and empowering lens.

Want to make 2026 your worst year ever? Cool. I’ve got a six-step blueprint for staying stuck and hating your life.
Inspired by a Leila Hormozi episode on “how to have your worst year,” I riffed on the idea and realized… I’ve been accidentally doing a bunch of these over the last 6–8 weeks. So in today’s solo episode, I’m laying out six sneaky, high-performer patterns that quietly drain your energy, dilute your momentum, and keep you spinning in the same loops (even when you’re successful everywhere else).
We’re talking about:
This episode is equal parts playful roast and loving reality check, especially for high-performing creatives and growth-oriented women who are ready to stop outsourcing their power and start building momentum that actually fits their nervous system.
And if you recognize yourself in 4 or more of these patterns, you might want to join us for the next round of Food Freedom Fantasy: deep health + consistency that feels like foreplay, without dieting or giving your power away to someone else’s formula.
Next week: the antidote episode (fiery + tactical) to help you do the rest of 2026 radically differently.

What if your struggles with food, energy, confidence, and even pleasure weren’t about discipline… but about disconnection from your body?
In this episode of the Embodied Writing Warrior Podcast, I’m joined by somatic sexuality and relationship coach Melanie Bonk (yes, that’s really her name 😏), where we explore the powerful link between pleasure, nervous system safety, embodiment, and vitality.
We dive into:
✨ Why pleasure is your birthright (and why society trained you out of it)
✨ How breathwork and somatic awareness unlock deeper presence and sensation
✨ The connection between body safety, self-trust, food patterns, and confidence
✨ Why pressure kills pleasure (in the bedroom AND in life)
✨ Simple tools to get out of your head and back into your body
This conversation is a reminder that when women reconnect to their bodies, everything changes, including how they nourish themselves, lead their lives, and experience joy.
If you’ve ever felt disconnected, numb, stuck in your head, or caught in cycles with food or self-sabotage, this episode is your invitation back home to your body.

What if your birth chart could show you how to care for your body, not just who you are?
In this episode of the Embodied Writing Warrior Podcast, Kayla sits down with alchemical herbalist, medical astrologer, and ecstatic dance DJ Diggory to explore the intersection of True Sidereal astrology, plant medicine, embodiment, and vitality.
Diggory shares why he transitioned from Western (tropical) astrology to True Sidereal, how this shift radically increased the accuracy of medical astrology readings, and how birth charts can guide everything from self-care practices to creativity, movement, sensuality, and nourishment.
Together, they explore:
This episode is an invitation to move beyond rigid health rules and into personalized, pleasure-led vitality.

What if the reason your tools “aren’t working” anymore… isn’t because you’re broken—but because you’re treating the wrong wound?
In this deeply personal solo episode, Kayla explores one of the most common and painful reasons emotional eating, burnout, and self-sabotage can persist even after years of mindset work, nervous system regulation, and healing practices: misdiagnosis.
Using the metaphor of icing the knee when the shoulder is dislocated, this episode unpacks how safety tools can actually increase emotional eating when the core wound isn’t about danger—but about love, belonging, power, trust, or acceptance.
You’ll hear:
Kayla also shares vulnerably about social media, medium mismatch, attachment wounds, and how putting conditions on love—internally and externally—quietly erodes self-trust.
If you’ve ever thought:
This episode will help you stop icing the knee—and finally tend to the wound that’s actually asking for care.

What happens when fantasy, romance, and trauma collide?
You get something raw, powerful, and deeply human. You get traumantasy—a genre that author Lily from Mother of Stories stumbled into… and then fell in love with.
In this episode of the Embodied Writing Warrior Podcast, we dive into the world of traumantasy and what makes it so unique. Lily shares how her original intention to write high fantasy was gently overtaken by a deeper calling: to write stories about trauma, relationships, identity, and healing. What emerged was a genre that offers more than escape—it offers reclamation.
We talk about:
Lily's current projects include a novel titled Hearts Change My Scars, a monster erotica novelette, and ongoing work on her Substack newsletter Mother of Stories. Her writing is filled with emotionally complex characters, moral nuance, and the kind of catharsis we don’t always get in real life.
Whether you're a fellow writer or a devoted reader of darker romance and trauma-informed fantasy, this conversation will leave you feeling seen—and maybe even a little more whole.

What if food isn’t love… and the algorithm isn’t your daddy?
In today’s deeply personal episode of the Embodied Writing Warrior Podcast, I unpack the surprising connection between emotional eating, anxious attachment, and our relationship with social media. This conversation goes beyond “mindset” or “willpower” and into the deeper patterns that shape consistency, self-worth, creativity, and belonging.
I share how my own struggles with food resurfaced during a season of hyper-focusing on social media growth—and why the algorithm functions a lot like an emotionally unavailable attachment figure. Hot-and-cold reinforcement. Random validation. The endless loop of “maybe this time I’ll be chosen.”
We explore the concept of medium mismatch—why some environments, platforms, or practices quietly dysregulate us, even when we’re “doing everything right.” And how choosing the right medium (in business, health, and relationships) can restore consistency, creativity, and peace without forcing or self-abandonment.
This episode is especially for you if:
I also share practical boundaries I’m implementing around social media, how my eating stabilized almost immediately after this realization, and an embodied activation to help you audit the environments shaping your life.

Amy has spent over 25 years immersed in personal development, starting with Louise Hay and Wayne Dyer at age 16. Since then, she’s created a soul-based empire, guiding women back to their true essence and helping them manifest through alignment—not over-efforting.
Here’s what we explore in this episode:
Amy reminds us that manifestation isn't about becoming someone else—it's about remembering who we already are. And when we remember that we're already whole, already worthy, already enough... the universe mirrors that back in miraculous ways.

In a world of polarizing wellness narratives, there’s a sneaky, unspoken double standard at play—and it’s time to name it.
On Episode 226 of the Embodied Writing Warrior Podcast, Kayla peels back the layers of shame, feminism, and food freedom in what might be her boldest solo episode yet. This is Part 2 of a series unpacking the myth that you can’t want food freedom, self-love, and weight loss at the same time. Last week, she debunked the first two binaries—this time, she takes on the third: that weight loss and feminism are incompatible.
Her take? Weight loss isn’t anti-feminist. Shame is.
Throughout the episode, Kayla explores:
She also shares her own story: how childhood trauma—not dieting—was the root of her binge eating, and how her lighter body today is a byproduct of healing, not punishment.
Kayla reminds us that feminism is about choice. And if a woman wants to lose weight, love herself, and uplift others? That’s her sacred right.
This episode is not a permission slip to conform. It’s a battle cry for sovereignty. Listen in, and get ready to write your own rules.

She breaks down the physiological impact of chronic stress on digestion, metabolism, and energy, then guides listeners to the real shift: releasing unprocessed grief.

If you identity as a hard-working, goal-oriented, Type A person, you probably have a hardship kink.
You believe in the power of hard work and discipline.

And... you might glorify hardship and challenge to such a severe degree that it's creating unnecessary drama and leading to burnout and disengagement.
This pattern can often play out unconsciously.

You'll also be able to use this review to find the areas in your life you want to focus on in the coming year.
In this week's episode, we cover:
Episode 111. 2 Concepts To Help You Improve Your Consistency & Daily Performance
Rest is one of the most underrated and underused strategies when it comes to achieving our goals and manifesting our desires.
It's often seen as weak.
It's often seen as lazy.
It's often seen as an afterthought, or a bonus thing we might get to do if we conquer ever single thing on our endless to-do list.
These statements couldn't be further from the truth.
The ability to rest deeply, and to rest in a variety of ways, is how you optimize your energy and maximize the amount of life force you have to go out and live your most amazing, incredible, aligned life.
Rest isn't just about taking naps or rest days from workouts either. In this episode, we'll talk about:

What if a healthier, happier, more focused, more creative, more peaceful you was a mere 30 days away?
This was my experience after completing a 30-Day Social Media detox.

When it comes to achieving your goals and manifesting your goals, is it best to focus on the outcome or the process?
As with many things, the answer is often "it depends".

In this week's episode, we're diving into how you can journal with the air element.
This element focuses on how we think, perceive the world around us, and extract meaning from life's events.
We think around 60,000 thoughts a day. 80% of those thoughts are negative and 95% of those thoughts are repetitive, keeping us stuck in old patterns.

In this episode, we're going to break down why enthusiasm is a powerful force for achieving any goal you have.
It's also going to help you enjoy the process towards any goal as well.
I'm also going to be giving you 7 ways to create enthusiasm, motivation, and inspiration on demand.
This is an episode that every high-performing woman needs to listen to.
As a high-performing, Type-A woman, there's an extremely high chance that you rely on your own will and actions to influence every outcome in your life.
This can be a great thing.
Everyone wants agency and the feeling of having a say in what happens in their external world.
However, in many cases, this emphasis on our own will and actions can become excessive. We end up trying to control everything and everyone around us, which creates a lot of unnecessary stress and unhappiness.
In today's episode, we talk about:
You've probably heard that willpower is a finite resource.
Willpower depletes over the course of the day.
The more you use willpower throughout the day, the less you have later.
And while these ideas might be true, I believe one of the biggest ways we limit and reduce our willpower is when we make our willpower conditional.
Our willpower only shows up in certain circumstances.
It's only possible to have willpower during these times, but not those ones.
This limits our power in our daily lives.
I believe you become unstoppable when you stop putting conditions on your willpower.
In this episode, we'll talk about:
This episode title might have you scratching your head, but I mean it when I say I'm grateful for my recent weight regain.
I wasn't grateful for it a few months ago.
I felt so defeated and demoralized by my own behaviour and energy between the months of September to April.
I thought I had learned nothing after all these years.
I thought it meant I was doomed to failure and unhappiness and could only keep it at bay for so long.
However, that wasn't the case whatsoever.
With that period of time behind me, I'm able to realize why I had the setbacks I did with my health and weight.
I know realize they were for my highest good.
In this week's episode, I'm walking you through all the reasons why I'm grateful for the weight I gained back.
My intention is for this episode to serve as a case study for you so you can see how it's possible to take any setback or struggle, and use it as a force for growth and transformation.

Today's episode is going to cover two powerful intentions to help you create your biggest glow up yet.
Dictionary.Com defines a glow up as "an informal term for a positive personal transformation, typically one involving significant changes in appearance and style and often also growth in confidence and maturity (and sometimes aspects of personal or professional life)."
In today's episode, you'll learn:

Consistency is one of the greatest superpowers you can ever possess.
It's a keystone part of what it takes to slay your goals and thrive along the way.
However, sometimes, we think we're chasing consistency when what we're truly chasing is perfectionism disguised as consistency.
In this episode, we cover:
“A culture fixated on female thinness is not an obsession about female beauty, but an obsession about female obedience. Dieting is the most potent political sedative in women’s history; a quietly mad population is a tractable one.” - Naomi Wolf
To celebrate the release of The Barbie Movie last month, we are doing a special episode on how you can simultaneously transform your body and slay the patriarchy.
In today's society, it sometimes feel likes there are two distinct camps:
The weight loss and body transformation camp, which can keep women spinning in a cycle of obsessing about how their body's look and how much they're eating. This can sometimes be approached in a way that is harmful and reinforces the patriarchy.
The body positivity/feminism camp, which strives to empower women and allow them to love themselves and their body's at every size. However, this camp can also make women feel shame if they do want to lose weight or transform their bodies in some way.
When these two camps go to war with each other, it's a losing game for any woman involved.
But what if you didn't have to choose?
What if you could love and accept your body, celebrate yourself as a women, use your actions and your approach to tell the patriarchy to stick it where the sun doesn't shine, AND create a physical transformation, if you desire to do so?
That is what this week's episode is all about.

Today's episode contains a short but powerful message to help you deal with frustration and impatience that comes when progress feels slow.
There are times on our journey towards our goals where it feels like things aren't happening. Progress either feels painfully slow or even nonexistent in certain seasons.

The intention of this message is to leave you feeling comforted and peaceful, no matter how slow your progress has felt, and give you a dose of inspiration to keep moving towards your goals.
This episode was inspired by an interesting conversation I had with a friend on one of our hikes.
She was sharing something she'd heard from a big health coach in the industry. What she'd heard was this:
Running and other types of high-intensity cardio raise your cortisol levels and create a stress response in the body. This can cause people, especially women in menopause, to gain weight.
She asked what my thoughts were. I said I agreed and disagreed. I'm going to elaborate on the thoughts I had surrounding this topic. In this episode, you'll learn:

High performing, goal-achieving women - this one for is for you if you're looking for more inner peace, a deeper connection with yourself, and a more fulfilling life in general.
This probably sounds like a tall order because sometimes, peace and self-care and fulfilment come second to the external targets and goals we set for ourselves.
Sometimes, we become unhappy achievers in our pursuit of our next level.
Sometimes, we find ourselves perpetually unsatisfied, no matter how much we achieve.
Sometimes, we become disillusioned because instead of making us happier, each achievement leaves us feeling more empty and hollow because it didn't make us feel the way we expected to feel.
There's a big reason for this, and it involves a particular shadow every person has within them.
When you do this specific type of shadow work, you will create the conditions where you can slay (in a fulfilling, life-affirming way) and also thrive at the same time.

For many women, strategy alone is NOT the complete solution to their challenges with weight loss and emotional eating.
If strategy alone was the solution, then every diet and workout program would work.
This doesn't mean there's anything wrong with you. It probably means that you're struggling with something a huge majority of women struggle with: low self-worth.
In today's episode, we'll cover the five signs that your struggles with weight loss and emotional eating have nothing to do with a faulty way of eating, lack of discipline, or the inability to get the results you desire.
Instead, we'll cover the signs that the struggles you're having in this area are likely to stem from challenges with self-worth.
We'll also talk about how you can start to do the real work of cultivating self-worth FIRST, which is going to create more ease and flow as you move towards your health and fitness goals.

Toxic traits refer to habits, behaviors, and ongoing actions that harm others.
Most high achieving women have one or more of the 5 toxic traits we cover today.
The person most likely to be harmed by these traits is the high achieving woman herself.
These toxic traits can lead to chronic stress and burnout.
Chronic stress and burnout lead to a lack of energy, a deep sense of unhappiness and frustration, binge eating, and inconsistency.

If you are a high performing women who hasn't quite figured out how to stay consistent with your eating habits and workout routines, this is for you.
It is incredibly common for driven, high performing women to crush it in every area of their life... except with their health and fitness goals.
They're crushing it with their career goals. They can achieve anything they set their minds to. They're amazing mothers, sisters, friends, partners.
And with all of this success... they can't seem to achieve their health and fitness goals.
They find themselves self-sabotaging.
They find themselves only able to stick to their routines and plans for a little while before going back to their old ways.
Then it starts to affect their relationships, their productivity, their jobs.
They have to work so hard to hide the internal battles they're struggling with every day. On the outside, it looks like they have everything together. On the inside, they're filled with frustration, distrust towards themselves, and a fear that they're always going to be this way.
There are reasons why these challenges hit so hard for the badass women of the world. Tune in to today's episode to discover the 4 reasons why high performing women struggle with weight loss and emotional eating.

If you've struggled with binge eating for any length of time, I'm going to take a guess that you would do anything to make it go away.
I don't blame you. I 100% get it.
I know from so much personal experience what binge eating can do to a person.
It has stolen my energy. It has stolen my confidence. It has taken away my enthusiasm and zest for life. It's made me feel powerless, out of control. It also causes this beyond frustrating up-and-down yoyo with your weight and fitness goals.
It can feel like you undo an entire week or month of consistency and dedication after one or two nights of binge eating.
I see the thrall of wanting binge eating to go away forever and never come back.
However, binge eating actually has some surprisingly positive functions in our life. I'm sharing two of them on today's podcast.
You'll learn:
In today's episode, I'm sharing the introduction to my upcoming book - Your Body Is Not A Weapon: Healing a Fractured Relationship With Food, Physique, & Sexuality.
This is the story of how I healed my own fractured relationship with food, my body, and my sexuality. In my own experience, all three are intricately connected.
We fear our appetites for food and our cravings in the same way we fear or judge our sexual desires.
We check out of our bodies, not really there when we eat or have sex or go through our days.
We chase perfection - the perfect diet, the perfect body composition, the perfect sexual partner that will validate our attractiveness.
We restrict, we over-exercise, we refuse to rest, we engage in sexual encounters that leave us feeling more empty and hollow than ever before.
We treat our body like a weapon.Click here to join the Slay & Thrive community to get the activation questions and the activation assignment,
"You can't change what you can't love." - My Amazing Mentor, Patrick Dominguez.
"At the root of every problem is a lack of unconditional self-love." - My Awesome Friend, Caleb Nelson
I still think about both of these ideas often as I've gone through my personal development journey. They're often the reminders I need the most. I also think they're powerful for anyone out there who's struggling with self-sabotage or low self-worth.
If you can't first love, understand, and sit with your perceived shortcomings, you don't have the power to transform them into something different.
And, if you don't have an unconditional love for yourself - EVEN when you're in a period of failure, struggle, or misalignment - you're going to stay stuck in those places for way longer.
You've probably heard before how important self-love is. You've probably started to practice it in some form or another.
If you're anything like me, you've got the self-love thing dialed in when you're performing at your best.
It's easy to love yourself then, right?
But what about when you start to falter?
What about when you go back to old habits?
What about when you're not showing up as your best self?
What about when you feel like you're going backwards?
In today's episode, I share my own strategy for cultivating deep self-love on demand, EVEN when I'm in these periods of struggles.
Unconditional self-love is possible. Tune in to today's episode to discover how to make it happen in your own life.

"You're obviously just not committed."
"Oh, you're just complacent, honey."
"No excuses, just progress!"
Have you ever heard read these things, been told these things, or thought these things?
Here is the massive problem with these sentiments:
They breed shame and paralysis. They're likely to keep you stuck exactly where you are.
I bet you're an incredibly hard worker. You have been successful in many, many areas. And maybe, if you're like me, it's been health and eating and weight that have always tripped you up.
Then you see these messages about being complacent or uncommitted or full of excuses. And honestly, they're usually being spouted by ripped fitness models who have never struggled with their weight. Who don't see you as a person with so many painful experiences and limiting beliefs and ingrained survival strategies that keep you in the struggle.
Oh, and they're probably saying these things because they want you to buy their 30 day challenge or coaching package.
Get ready for a super spicy podcast episode because this fires me up. I want everyone who is struggling with their weight or eating challenges to understand what is truly going on here. I'm going to be sharing some common patterns and blocks that get in the way of progress.
And none of it has anything to do with you being weak, undisciplined, lazy, or CoMpLaceNt.
People with these struggles don't need more shaming. They need to feel seen, understood, and most importantly, SAFE, in the energy of those supporting or guiding them on this journey.
That is my deepest desire for my podcast and for the women I hold space for in my community and in my coaching containers.
You are so much more powerful than you realize. And there are very good reasons why you're not yet where you want to be. Tune in to today's podcast episode to discover what's actually going on here.

There is a massive difference between pursuing health and pursuing perfection.
When you're pursuing health, you hold space for balance and moderation. A dinner out doesn't derail you. You're still able to eat in alignment with your fitness goals 80% of the time, even while away for a weekend.
Pursuing perfection looks very different.
You have rigid standards. There is no room for error. And that one wrong move - the unplanned cookies in the breakroom, the chocolate you ate from the vending machine at your kid's sporting event - sends you into a shame spiral that keeps you stuck in the behaviours that made you feel so bad about yourself in the first place.
You've messed up, so all bets are off. Now, you're too filled with shame and self-directed anger to focus on your goals. You make one misaligned choice after the other for days or weeks on end until you can finally muster up the energy to go back to being "perfect" again.
That often takes a while because being perfect? It's exhausting. It's all consuming.
You can end this cycle. You can step off the imaginary path of perfectionism and get back on the road to true health. The road to health feels energizing. It feels safe. It puts you into a state of thriving.
Tune in to today's episode to learn how to make this shift in your own life.

All humans have the same basic needs and drives. These drives might manifest differently for each person, but the basic principles of the drive remain the same.
These drives all called "core" or "basic" for a reason. They're the top priorities needs that need to be addressed before anything else.
So what happens when one of these core human drives is actually at odds with the goals you have for yourself?
Is this one of the big reasons why you haven't achieved that goal or reached your next level of personal power and mastery?
In today's episode, we're going to talk about what human drive might be holding you back from reaching your potential, and how to navigate this hurdle on your path to your next level self.
Have you ever heard that we only use 10% of our brain?
Or maybe you've heard that we have a left-brain and a right brain, and that people are left-brained and some people are right-brained.
There is so much more to it than that. This episode is all about learning to use 100% of your brain to maximize your success.
When you use more of your brain, you have more resources at your disposal. You're more creative. You're better able to see the big picture.
In today's episode, you'll learn about four distinct parts of the brain, how to recognize them in yourself, and a 5-step process for using all parts together.
This is largely a book club episode and the 5-step process and the four-part brain concept is taken from the book Whole Brain Living by Jill Bolte Taylor. Click here to grab your copy of the book.
Learn more about the Brain Huddle Process here.
I'm sharing how I integrated these concepts into my own life and how they've helped me further my progress towards my own goals. These ideas and this process was such a game-changer that I knew I had to share it with my listeners as well.
"Half of the leaders I have met don't need to learn what to do. They need to learn what to stop.”- Marshal Goldsmith
When you're constantly trying to add more good habits or strategies without addressing your blocks and limitations, you'll set yourself up to fail.
Constantly trying to add more to a busy schedule can actually create overwhelm that paralyzes a person. When you're always trying to add more, you might end up doing nothing because it feels like there's too much going on.
What if you chose to simplify and clear out what's holding you back?
When you stop the habits, thoughts, and emotional patterns that are getting in the way, you free up your energy to go after your goals with more consistency, more focus, and more enjoyment. Tune in to today's episode to discover how to eliminate three bad habits that are stalling your progress and keeping you stuck.
Setbacks. They're a normal part of any journey towards any goal.
And oftentimes, they create a lot of negative emotion. Our confidence is shaken. We become crippled with doubt.
We might even make the setbacks mean something about us. Maybe it means we're destined for permanent failure. Maybe we won't ever achieve this goal. Maybe there's something wrong with us.
We also might feel resentful about having to make up lost ground, which can keep us stuck. Our fears, shame and resentment can cause us to stay trapped in the setback longer than necessary.
This is where today's episode comes in. On today's show, I'm taking you through my own 5 step process to slay my way out of any setback.
Setbacks can be a gift in disguise, once we apply the right framework and the right strategy. We can come out of them with more resilience, more determination, and more wisdom. Tune in today to learn how to slay your way through any setback and actually use it as the launching pad for the most badass comeback ever.
There are many reasons why someone wants to lose weight or get in shape.
Some of the reasons can be inspiring and motivating.
Maybe it's to have more energy to keep up with their family.
Maybe it's to challenge themselves and see what they're made of.
Maybe it's for an event or race they've signed up for.
Other reasons are less helpful.
Because they feel like they "should" - according to some imaginary standards set by society.
Because they feel like it'll make them more acceptable to those around them.
Because they think it will make them happy.
In today's episode, we're talking about the importance of a strong, inspiring why behind a body transformation, as well as the #1 reason to transform your body. You'll also get a framework for pursuing your health goals using this number one reason.
Food freedom. You hear the term tossed around in the health and weight loss world, but what does it mean?
Food freedom is being liberated from compulsions and attachments to certain eating habits that aren't in our best interest.
It's a state of relaxation and self-trust because you no longer feel like a slave to urges and cravings.
It's being able to make choices around food from a place of power, agency, and alignment with your goals.
Food freedom is the fast track to vitality, energy, health, fitness, and a deep sense of inner peace.
But how do we get there if we're currently feeling imprisoned by our deeply rooted habits and limiting beliefs around food?
In today's episode, we're going to be talking about three keys to creating a sense of food freedom in your everyday life.

"If the journey is fun, you won't care how long it takes." - Abraham Hicks
The pursuit of goals can often become hollow and frustrating and unfulfilling without regular reminders of the importance of enjoying a journey.
The journey will inform the destination. You will never stress yourself into a place of inner peace. You will never hate yourself into a place of self-love and appreciation. You will never rage and fight your way to a place of happiness.
When you feel good more often, you're more likely to continue doing whatever actions are necessary to reach your goals. So, by choosing to enjoy the journey, you actually become far more likely to get to your destination as well.
We spend so much longer on the journey towards our goals then we do in that fleeting moment where our goal becomes realized. When that happens, we often shift gears, pick another goal, and go on another journey.
If we want to thrive, it is essential to find a way to have a happy journey. In today's episode, we're covering 9 ways you can continue to enjoy whatever journey you're on in the given moment.
Today's episode is going to feature a short but powerful reminder: don't quit before the good part.
Most changes feel uncomfortable, maybe even miserable, until they don't anymore.
There are so many things that people start and then give up on repeatedly, so they're perpetually stuck in that place of discomfort and unhappiness.
That all changes when we decide to keep going, no matter what, until we get to the good part.
The good part will come. It simply requires a level of consistency and follow through that might feel hard in the beginning. However, getting to the good part is absolutely worth it.
Listen to Episode 27: Make Hard Things Easy.
There is a common tradeoff that people make in life.
The tradeoff between passion and safety.
Some people choose the safe path, the safe relationship, the safe life... and it lacks any semblance of fire and passion. They might live in comfortably numb states, choosing a cocoon of security.
Then there are those whose lives are filled with passion. However, that passion might also feel like danger. It might leave a person in a state of constant stress. The relationships that are always on the brink of disaster. Jobs or businesses ventures filled with uncertainty and toxicity that leaves a person struggling to get to sleep every night.
There are big downsides to living a life solely of safety and to living a life solely of passion.
However... what if you get to have both? What if they can coexist so you can live in a state of peace, joy, and alignment on a regular basis?
Today, we're talking about how to do just that.
Kayla's also sharing a bit from her latest book - Deep Blue Desire - in which the main character discovers that she gets to have a life and a romance that is both passionate and safe.

It is Slay & Thrive's birthday week on the podcast, and we are celebrating with a special episode and a giveaway.
Today, I'm sharing my top 10 most life-changing books of all time.
These are books I've usually read multiple times. They're books I return to regularly as a resources. They're books with tools and practices I've implemented that have drastically changed my life.
I am so excited to share each of these amazing books with you today. I'm going to cover:
I am going to give away one of these books on Saturday, June 25th. To enter to the giveaway, you can:
Episodes Mentioned (with Links):
What's wrong with me?
If this question has ever crossed your mind or if it's a question that plagues you on a regular basis, then this is episode is for you.
My intention for this episode is for another listener to never feel the need the need to ask this question again.
This question keeps us from slaying and thriving. It's also not real.
There is nothing wrong with you, no matter what your struggles or challenges are. We're going to talk about how to approach your challenges and struggles through a different lens that will change everything.
By erasing this question from your vocabulary, you will be 10x more likely to take action to create a new reality where this struggle or obstacle becomes nonexistent.
You'll also be more likely to thrive because you're not stuck in a state of self-judgement or self-loathing.
We're also going to cover threequestions you can ask instead that will create more joy and motivation for the journey ahead.
Even if you pride yourself on a being a strong, independent, powerful person in most arenas in your everyday life, there might be an area or two where you struggle and don't feel as powerful as you'd like to.
Many people feel a lot of agency and resourcefulness in most arenas. Then they often have this one place where they get stuck or tripped up. It could be with food, with spending, with certain triggering relationships.
That feeling of situational helplessness can be frustrating and confusing. However, there is a way to conquer this sense of helplessness in whatever arena is holding you back so you feel more powerful and more capable in your everyday life. Today, we're talking about how to do exactly this.
Have you been enjoying the pursuit of your goal? Does it light you up and excite you? Do you look forward to the prospect of doing the work required because you're so in love with the end result and the possibilities it will create for your life?
Or do you feel a lot of self-imposed pressure? Are you struggling with a lot of impatience and frustration? Maybe you just want to get there today. Maybe you feel a ton of anxiety about the prospect of never reaching this goal.
When you think about not reaching the goal, it fills you with dread and fear.
Sometimes, there are parts of us that pursue our goals for reasons that create stress and unhappiness in our lives. This is going to make it harder to achieve the goal. When we're not feeling our best, we're not going to be motivated to doing the work. This is when we might procrastinate or self-sabotage.
Today, we're tackling how to deal with this particular challenge when it comes up in your life. Pursuing your goals can feel like self-care once you eliminate the stressful reasons for wanting to achieve it.

Have you ever felt like you've learned the same lesson repeatedly?
Maybe you've overcome a habit or a challenge in your life. A money struggle. An eating challenge. A relationship pattern. Then, to your dismay, you find yourself returning to a familiar struggle after weeks, months, or years of feeling like you were "past" it.
The first reaction could be frustration. Exasperation.
You might worry that this means you haven't really grown and changed. You might feel fear that this is always going to be a battle.
In today's episode, we're talking about how to tackle a recurring obstacle or challenge. We're going to chat about how to deal with those lessons that seem to repeat themselves, even after you've learned them multiple times.

There's is real danger in relying on motivation.
Even the most hyped-up, high energy person isn't going to feel motivated all the time,
Fatigue happens. Stress happens. Anger, sadness, and frustration happen. Unexpected circumstances derail our best laid plans. There are a hundred things that can deplete our motivation and leave us uninspired and resistant to keeping our self-made promises.
What if you could harness the power of something even better and more steady than motivation will ever be?
What if you could tap into a force that is going to keep you consistent and focused on your dreams?
The best part is... when you have this one thing, you almost always end up with motivation, too.
Tune in to today's show to find out what this superpower is and how you can create more of it in your everyday life.

Positivity, left unchecked and unbalanced, can turn to harmful delusion.
Today, we're going to be covering something very out of the ordinary - the upside of negativity.
This isn't about starting to look at everything through a negative lens or complaining about everything in life. It's about using a healthy dose of negativity where it's needed so that we can make more progress and, paradoxically, feel better in the long term.
We'll talk a bit about the idea of toxic positivity, the power of negative emotions, and finally, three practices to help you embrace negativity in a way that is empowering and helpful.
If we whole-heartedly wanted what we thought we wanted, we'd have it by now.
Or at the very least, we'd be well on our way towards it without the feelings of being stuck or perpetually going backwards and forwards.
When we have big goals that have eluded us for a long time, there are parts of us that actually don't want the big goal itself or the consequences we believe we'll experience as a result of achieving this goal.
These perceived consequences or drawbacks often live in our unconscious until we extract them and bring them to the surface so we can transform them.
Today, Kayla takes you through a step by step process, with an example, of how you can find these hidden fears and limitations, and what to about them once you find them. She's also sharing an exciting update about an upcoming writing project.
When it comes to slaying our goals, we want to have focus and discipline.
We want to be focused on whatever it is we're creating or pursuing. We want to cultivate the discipline required to not only achieve the goal but maintain the goal.
However, anything taken to its extreme can become unhelpful or even dangerous. Control and obsession are focus and discipline that have been pushed over the edge.
When over-control and over-obsession dominate, we often also experience an opposite reaction after we've fatigued our minds, bodies and spirits. After trying to exert excessive control and over-obsessing, a person will often rubber-band in the opposite direction. They'll snap into a place of apathy and goal-abandonment because they've burned themselves out.
In today's episode, Kayla will be sharing the distinctions between discipline and obsession. She'll share the red flags that let you know you've taken your focus and intensity a step too far, and how to stay on the path where you're focused, disciplined, and consistent without needing to move between extremes.
This podcast is all about helping every listener create a life where they have it all.

Kayla will also break down the solution and strategy for working through the one catch on the road to creating your dream life.
This might be one of the most controversial episodes to date. Today, we're going to be exploring the concept that having is evidence of wanting.
This podcast episode was inspired by Carolyn Elliot's book, Existential Kink.
She presents this idea: if we have something in our lives, we must, on some level, want it.
What does this mean for those recurrent strokes of bad luck, those infuriating patterns that continue to surface with our money, our relationships, and our health?
Is it possible that, on some level, we want these things?
And what would happen if we embraced this idea and no longer chose to see ourselves as victims of circumstances or compulsion? How much more power would we have in our everyday lives to create a new reality, if we so choose to do so?
Join Kayla as she shares her own reflections on this concept, and how this one simple shift in perspective created a magical breakthrough in her personal life.

"I just can't stop overeating after dinner."
"I get to 3 in the afternoon, and it's game over. I lose all energy and motivation"
We often have defining moments in our days. Those times that either make or break us.
These moments can be fraught with anxiety and dread because of all the times we've struggled in the past.
It doesn't have to be this way. We can slay these defining moments. And by slaying these defining moments, we can slay the day, which will allow us to slay any goal we have in our lives.

This episode of part of the Thrive Series: Activate Your Feminine Superpowers.
There is one thing that is guaranteed to steal our joy and hold us back from thriving on an everyday basis.
That one thing is resistance. When we fight with reality, we lose every time. We're agitated. We're edgy. We're frustrated. We're so busy wishing things were different than how they are in a given moment, that we check out and miss out on our lives unfolding.
Being able to surrender in any given moment is a superpower that will elevate your sense of peace and contentment.
Surrender isn't about giving up. It's about staying present and allowing whatever is happening to be there in our lives without judging or fighting it.
Then, the wild paradox is that when we CAN surrender and accept our lives and circumstances as they truly are, we can start to shift whatever it is that isn't serving us.
In today's episode, you'll get a process for activating more surrender on a daily basis.

In today's episode, we'll talk about how to bulletproof your progress and drive towards any ambition by activating purpose and clarity.
Purpose: Your reason for doing what it is you're doing. Your deeper why. Your compelling reason to keep going, no matter what. Your reason to keep going when it's hard. When it's uncomfortable. When it feels like nothing is working.
Clarity: Being able to know, down to the specifics, what moves you forwards. What actually matters on a daily basis, and in the bigger picture. Clarity surrounding who you are and what you stand for. Clarity will keep you grounded and focused. It'll keep you taking the actions that matter most.
This is an amazing time of year to examine any intentions or dreams you have through the lens of purpose and clarity. If you have a compelling, deep reason for doing something, then it'll keep you moving forward even in times of discomfort. Having clarity is being able to move from exerting random, sometimes desperate effort, to truly slaying in your everyday life.

This episode is for everyone, whether you are single or in a relationship. This isn't about building a literal power couple in your romantic relationship.
This about building your internal power couple.
Regardless of our gender, we have both masculine and feminine energy.
The masculine is energy of slaying. It's goal oriented. It's protective. It's strong. It's directive.
The feminine is the energy of thriving. It's nurturing. It's creative. It's receptive. It's deeply loving.
Many times, struggle is born out of an imbalance between our healthy masculine and healthy feminine. We might swing too much in one direction.
Too much masculine, and we're slaying without thriving.
Too much feminine, and we're thriving without slaying.
This episode is all about finding harmony and integration between our masculine and feminine. You'll get strategies and a workshop exercise for creating your own internal power couple so you can slay and thrive on a regular basis.

This episode is one you can return to on a regular basis whenever you need it. Today, we'll be looking at Kayla's all-time favourite framework for slaying & thriving.
Having an inspiring and effective framework for approaching your goals, your life, and your challenges can change everything. It starts by changing the way we think, which effects our emotions. And it's our emotions that drive our choices, which then drive our results.
And our framework can sometimes shift depending on life circumstances, especially when things get hard. This episode can serve as a resource whenever hard times come up and you need a boost to return to a place of progress.
There will probably always be things in our lives that feel hard as we work towards our best selves and our best lives.
The good news is that there is one strategy that will make any hard thing easy. Tune in to today's episode to find out how you can apply this to any area of your life.
Hard is also going to be relative and vary from person to person. However, most people would probably feel that writing an entire book in one month (or writing a book at all) qualifies as a hard thing.
This is a special episode that will also share Kayla's National Novel Writing Month journey. She finished this year's project on November 14th - over two weeks early. You'll hear about her best practices for taking on a book-writing challenge, and how it's evolved over the years.
Not all shortcuts are bad. In fact, shortcuts can be a powerful way to ensure you slay and thrive.
Shortcuts can save you time and energy. They can also create a more joyful path forwards as you pursue your goals.

There is no shortage of nutrition information in the world. There must be hundreds of thousands of books, podcast episodes, articles, Youtube videos, and blog posts. There's also no shortage of contradictions within this information.
Many people swear by Keto, while others choose vegan or vegetarian styles of eating. Some people get great results with a certain program, while another might not see any results at all.
After consuming countless resources on nutrition and obtaining two nutrition certifications, Kayla have discovered that there is one nutrition strategy that has trumped all the rest in her own life. It's allowed her to achieve her greatest health, get consistent with her habits, and heal from her pattern of binge eating.
This nutrition strategy can work for anyone, regardless of what their dietary preferences are.
Do you find yourself apologizing for everything? Do you find yourself in a state of perpetual remorse and shame about who you are and how you are? If so, this is the episode is for you.
Part of slaying and thriving is showing up as our truest, most authentic selves, without apologizing for it. We'll be diving into what being unapologetic looks like.
This is not a free pass to excuse hurtful or damaging behaviour. It's not a free pass to do whatever we feel like, without regard for others. It's about still seeing the work to be done on ourselves, owning that work, but not apologizing for who we are, what we look like, or what our past has looked like as we pursue growth and transformation.
We'll be covering three parts of being unapologetically you:
"Finding joy in what you're doing is not an added feature. It is a sign of deep health." - Mark Nepo
This episode is an invitation to check-in with yourself. Are you finding joy in what you're doing? Ask yourself this across the board. Are you finding joy in your relationships, how you spend your free time, your job, how you're pursuing your goals?
If not, we're going to be discussing ways you can not only find the joy, but choose joy. We can find joy in our perspective, and we can also choose it with our decisions and our actions.
Choosing joy is one of the greatest things you can do if you want to spend more time thriving. You'll get strategies for how to both find and actively cultivate more joy into your life.

"One of the recurring core truths I witness about the human psyche is that those who face the darkest parts of their life with courage, loving acceptance, and surrender — always — experience a massive blossoming in their life after. Confront the dragon; get the gold."
- Eric Godsey
Oftentimes, we spend so much time fighting one dragon in our life - whether it's our weight, our debt, or something other external issue - that we expend all our energy. Then we realize that there was another meaner, scarier dragon hiding behind the external challenges we're facing.
Our limiting beliefs. Our wounds from the past. Our trapped emotions. All the blocks that have been hiding behind our surface-level problems.
We can't get to our best lives without slaying the dragons lurking below the surface. Shadow work is essential for healing and thriving. Join Kayla as she gives you strategies for slaying the dragons in your life.
We are back with another episode on binge eating. We'll start out by discussing some ideas from the book, Brain over Binge by Kathryn Hansen.
In this book, the author talks about the two theories for bulimia and binge eating disorder recovery - the tamed house-pet theory and the transformed butterfly theory.
She argues that, in order to stop binge eating, all you have to do is stop acting on the urge to binge.
This is simple in theory and this book has helped thousands of readers. Kayla will be sharing her thoughts on these three theories - the tamed house-pet theory, the transformed butterfly theory, and the "just stop" theory presented in this book, and which has worked the best in her own journey towards recovery.
Every human is an unfinished symphony. - Jade RawlingsToday's episode features an inspiring conversation with full-time author, Jade Rawlings.

Enjoy the episode with Jade - she has so many amazing things to say!

She's also going to be reading the first chapter of Pacific Heat, her upcoming novel. This book will be released in September of 2021. To make sure you don't miss the chance to buy your copy, make sure you've liked and followed https://www.facebook.com/kaylavanegdomwrites.
I was originally going to call this episode, 'my best manifestation ever', but I realized that wouldn't do the episode justice. This episode isn't about one specific manifestation. You can use these tips to manifest anything you desire - love, money, health, career changes, all of the above.
I'll be using a specific example from my own life. This is the most amazing thing I've manifested to date, but I'm going to be sharing the specifics about why it happened as beautifully and magically as it did.
After listening to this episode, you will have four tips to elevate your own manifesting processes. Combine these manifesting tips with a consistent, Beast Mode work ethic, and you will be able to achieve anything you want.
Today's guest is Laurie-Anne King - a coach and energy healer who is on a mission to help thousands of women win with money and create financial freedom and abundance. We had an incredible conversation about how to build financial peace into your life, using both energetic and practical strategies. We cover:
"Making more money won't resolve your issues with money. Resolving your issues with money resolves your issues with money. And, as a result, you often get more money." - Amanda Frances
In this episode, we're going to be discussing the ways you can resolve any issue in your life. We'll be talking money, love, and health, but this can be applied anywhere. You'll get specific strategies for how to actually do the inner work to see lasting change. The best part is that when you change the inside, the external situations you want to affect also change.
In today's episode, I have an incredible conversation with Patrick about how to set goals and achieve anything. Patrick is the CEO and founder of Inner Coach, which is where I had so many breakthroughs of my own this past year.
We cover a variety of topics, including:
If you have a weight loss goal specifically, you do not want to miss this episode!
This episode features a mother-daughter duo of bad-asses. Christine has gone from struggling with her weight and her habits to getting consistent and disciplined enough to participate in a bikini competition. Her entire identity changed. She talks about the obstacles she overcame, what she learned from starting her bodybuilding journey, and the power of having a coach.
Now she's helping her daughter, Alysha, reach her health and fitness goals. Alysha is one of my best friends, and she has been crushing it on her own journey. She's a mom of two young children, and she's had to overcome some serious health issues as well. We talk about how she navigates motherhood, her health challenges, and the importance of having a great support system.
I know you'll love hearing from these two rock stars!
Even though we're almost halfway through 2021, this episode is so worth a listen. 2020 was a bigger year for growth and transformation than any other year for me. I didn't want to let this year get too cold without sharing my most powerful lessons.
Most of these lessons are universal and can help anyone, regardless of whether they're chasing financial goals, health goals, or relationship goals. They have been a game-changer for me, and I know they positively impact you on your journey as well!
Today's episode features an incredibly successful and fulfilled writer. We talk about how to slay and thrive as a creative person. Some of the topics we cover are:
Do you ever feel like you're at war with yourself? Like you're your own worst enemy? You know there's more that's possible for you. More health, more success, more fulfilment. But it feels like you're constantly getting in your own way. Maybe you overeat at night. Or overspend while you're trying to get out of debt. Or you procrastinate for months on end. You're frustrated because you know that you're the thing standing in your own way, but you don't know how to end the fight. Listen to this podcast to discover how you can get onto your own side, once and for all.
Today, we're going to be talking all about binge eating. This podcast was somewhat inspired by the book of the same title. Is it possible to never binge again? Is it even a helpful goal to strive for? We're going to be talking about how to break free from binge eating without the need for perfectionism or rigidity. We do discuss eating disorders to a small extent, so make sure to skip this episode if you aren't in a good place to hear about this.
One of the biggest roadblocks that keeps us from being able to Slay & Thrive is the expectation that progress must be a straight line. We resist setbacks and the obstacles, wanting to see steady, constant progress. This episode will talk about how this perspective gets in the way and keeps us from loving the journey. We'll also talk about how to see it differently so you can move towards your goals with greater consistency and less resentment.
This episode will change your relationship with yourself and your ability to achieve any goal you have for yourself. No matter what your barriers or unhelpful habits are, you are NOT broken. By choosing the perspective presented in this episode instead, you will deepen your relationship with yourself and create a greater sense of power to affect change in any area that you desire.
If you want to slay and thrive at the same time, then this episode is for you. It's so common to lead with what we don't want. We can get overwhelmed thinking about all the problems in our life. The excess weight. The debt. The low quality relationships. When we focus on the problems, we don't feel our best. But there is another way. When you lead with what you truly desire, you will not only feel better, but you'll be more likely to take the necessary action to achieve these desires.
Thriving without slaying is where you are so focused on feeling good that your momentum has dissipated. You're floating through life in a cloud of positivity, but you're not making progress. Managing your state and vibration has become a full time job, possibly to the point where it's become self-indulgent. In this episode, you'll learn about how you can take all your positive emotions and get back to taking inspired, aligned action towards your goals.
Slaying with thriving is rampant in today's society. We glorify success, achievement, and productivity. But what if it's coming at the expense of a person's joy and well-being? In this podcast, we're going to dive deeper into slaying without thriving, which is at the root of unhappy achieving. You'll also get practical tips for how to feel better and enjoy the journey now instead of struggling with burn out, overwhelm, and frustration.
This first episode will share how you can end patterns of unhappy achieving and self-sabotage forever. You'll also meet your host, who went from her rock bottom to creating the life of her dreams. You can be fulfilled and happy now. The best part is, when you feel better, you also do better. Get ready to Slay and Thrive.
