VCinema is a cult film review podcast which looks to take a close look at obscure and slightly forgotten movies from the past. Asian cinema, Italian genre fare or anything else that takes our interest. Coffin Jon and Josh hope to entertain as well as inform their audience!
VCinema has officially moved to a different provider so be sure that your feeds are pointed to the correct locations as described below. We also highly recommend that you keep your eyes on our main site (vcinema.variedcelluloid.net) for the bonus content we are planning including interviews, features, event coverage, special photo galleries, naked drunken madness, and more!

Coffin Jon and guest host, the Bancho, get together for bad Japanese food (in San Francisco Japantown nonetheless!) and an impromptu discussion about "Love Hotel Hill", cell phone manga, Sho Aikawa's dancing days, pay-to-ISDN, teaching English, movie soundtracks, Japanese cooking shows, and more. This bonus episode was recorded with a mini voice recorder so the sound quality isn't as good as in regular episodes.

In our third episode, we (Josh and Coffin Jon) ponder the technophobia of Shinya Tsukamoto's seminal cyberpunk film Tetsuo - The Iron Man. Also included are our Netflix Instant recommendations, Twitter question about postmodern film, listener feedback, and more film talk then you might care to listen to but too bad because the show is free and really, what else are you doing on a Friday night anyway?

For our second episode, we (Josh and Coffin Jon) stamina up Japanese-style for a whopping two hours of madness and movie discussion. Takashi Miike's semi-obscure Shinjuku Triad Society from 1995 gets the full-on featured review treatment this time around. We also discuss violence in Miike's films, recommend some classics in our "Netflix Instant Watch" segment, decide with our Twitter community whether the yakuza or triads would win in an all out war, and explore the question "Why do we watch cult film?" in our new "Question of the Podcast" segment. We also debut "The Pretention Alert" which will surely be used in many episodes to come.

The maiden voyage of the VCinema podcast is ready to set sail into your eardrums! In this episode, we go over the VCinema statement of intent, review a perennial VCinema webcast film favorite (think episode two!), and debut "THE BLOCK", a series of mini-segments: The Netflix Instant Watch, Show and Tell, and The Twitter Question. We were forced by the MPAA to edit out a planned segment called "Where am I hiding the pickle?" but perhaps that will appear in the Director's Cut one day.
