But what if it doesn't work?
It's the first question for most of us at every turn, change, or transition point in our lives.
The 🔑 is that the next question always must be, "But what if it does?"
Followed quickly by "What's the simplest next step to test it?"
Because possibility follows action.
The "what if" can go either way. It all comes down to whether or not you're willing to believe, try and adjust. And all of it must align to what it is you truly want.
Because even when things "haven't worked out," that "failure" ultimately worked out in our favor.

If you often catch yourself uttering the words, "Oh, if only I had more time," then pause and consider this...
What you don't do dictates what you can do.
Refuse to settle for mediocrity and embark on a mindful journey where every decision you make aligns harmoniously with your deepest intentions. Be ruthless about your priorities. Your time is one of your most valuable resources. Spend it wisely, focused on your highest values, intentions and non-negotiables.
You will rarely "have" time. You must create it. Intentionally.
And being ruthless about scheduling your time around what matters most will transform your outcomes into more of what you desire.

It's not enough to just be aware. Although awareness is the first step in the journey of practicing and living a more intentional life. And just beyond awareness there is a canyon. That dark canyon is what stops most from experiencing their deepest, most authentic truth, as that canyon represents the crossover from your inner world to the outer world.
And when we choose to believe, allow, and then action our deepest awareness through our intentions, our lives can truly transform. We can fully align what we feel inside with the world outside ourselves, and that transformation will be a gift to you and everything.
In this episode Krista and Phil sit down to discuss bringing intentions to into real life. How we can truly begin putting form to feeling. By sharing real and relevant examples in their own journey through parenthood, partnership, family life, and business. And how the process of bringing your intentions to life is like a heartbeat, sharing tips on how you can take your truths, your intentions, and very practically begin to bring those to life.

There IS a revolution happening in the workplace. A new dawn for how, where, and when we engage with this major component of our life called work. In the aftermath of the pandemic experience organizations around the world were forced to innovate the age-old construct of the typical 9-5 office work week. For some, they thrived and others (as we're witnessing the backlashes of today) have struggled to find the delicate, yet ironically simple solutions to empower people and redefine how work gets done at scale. We're inside a major paradigm shift that's calling for leaders to reimagine the relics of old and create a future where people can do the best work of their lives (in and out of the office).
Today we're thrilled to share the mic with Brian Elliot, who sees a Future of Work that inspires us and many others. He's spent three decades leading teams and building companies as a startup CEO, at Google, and at Slack where he was Senior VP. Brian also is the author of "How The Future Works". A blueprint for using flexible work to unlock the potential of your people, and championing the new age belief that by letting go, leaders and companies will get more back than they ever thought possible.
If you're a leader at any level, at any organization, thinking about important topics like burnout, employee well-being, diversity, hybrid and remote work, there is a wealth of knowledge dropped in this 45min episode with the research backed best practices for redesigning work to be more flexible, inclusive, and connected.

Being busy isn’t always productive. It’s not a badge of honor. And it's not really what you want. A full plate and calendar brings a surplus of stress and depletion of energy.
By slowly unwinding from the installed belief that continuing to do more will produce a healthy and fruitful life, and discerning what is absolutely essential to you, then eliminating everything that is not, will allow you to make the highest possible contribution and impact toward the things that really matter in your life.
In this episode Krista and Phil discuss the unraveling of their stories of "not enoughness", and practicing more essentialism in their lives, while offering perspective on how we can all find more peace in doing less to do more.
Today we're going to be talking about a topic that's made its way into the mainstream called Gaslighting. I'm so thrilled to be sharing space with one of the world's leading expert on the subject, and who actually coined the term Gaslight Effect, with Dr. Robin Stern. She has spent the majority of her amazing 30+ year career as a psychoanalyst treating individuals, couples, and families, while exploring the depths of what it truly means to feel.
We're going to talk about what Gaslighting really is, what it isn't, who's susceptible to being Gaslighted, and the expert advice on how you can heal from emotional abuse to reclaim your authentic power. To really be your authentic self.

In this episode Krista and Phil sit down and dive deep into the most fundamental practice they know — The Art of Reflection.
A tool and practice used widely in the work through Owl & Key and woven deeply into their everyday life, these simple prompts do something for us that we rarely take time for. To collect and interpret the data of our lives in order to build the relationship we desire with all of our experiences.
"What are you proud of?"
A simple and deeply effective question to gift yourself the healthy pause to take stock on self, maybe celebrate a bit, giving yourself a much needed pat on the back. Or the chance to do something different tomorrow and chart a new path forward. Anything that comes from this sacred space is worth it. And we hope that you find yourself in these vulnerable and open reflections in this episode on UNLOCKED.

It’s a common misconception that we need to do big, bold actions toward audacious goals to live the most fulfilling life. But that’s just not true. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. And thank goodness. Because like you, we’re all just real people, living really busy lives, and most often, we only have a little time for each of our priorities.
Our guest today, Miranda Alcaraz, is an inspiring example of how little intentional actions done consistently lead us to achieve what we want most. Something is more than nothing, and that’s enough.
In her own life, she’s used this philosophy to co-found Street Parking, a multi-million dollar global fitness and lifestyle brand, with her husband Julian all while birthing and raising their three young boys and maintaining incredible wellness for herself.
She shares this philosophy and her authentic stories with her growing global community of Street Parking members and fans who want to take control of their fitness. She, along with her team, makes it easy and inviting to prioritize fitness every day and to feel confident in the process, which ultimately leads to the greatest success - wellness.
I’ve personally been working with the Street Parking program for 4 years, and it’s been the ONE resource that has kept me consistent and frankly, physically well during that time. But the impacts of this philosophy stretch far beyond my fitness and have influenced all areas of my life.
We trust that hearing Miranda’s stories will inspire you in your own lifestyle design as much as she’s inspired our life’s journey. We highly encourage you to head on over to the links in the show notes to follow her inspiring work in the world.
MORE ABOUT MIRANDA
Miranda Alcaraz has spent over half her life in the fitness world, including 8 years on CrossFit HQ seminar staff and 8 years competing in CrossFit. In 2016, she founded Street Parking with her husband, Julian Alcaraz. Together, and now with a growing team, they’ve built a multi-million dollar operation supporting 36,000+ community members around the world. The stories of physical transformation and wellness are endless. Miranda and Julian do all of this while raising their three sons and caring for their own wellbeing to an inspiring level. We all want to feel as though we are the masters of our destiny, and in some regards that IS true. But life is not a single player game. In fact, it never has been, and everything is inextricably connected far beyond our comprehension. But what does that mean for us, and our journey in life? What role do we play? How do we play it?
In this episode Krista and Phil discuss the grand illusion of control, and a life philosophy that they've adopted called — Holding an open hand. As simple (and as hard) as it sounds, living with an open hand will simultaneously challenge you and also set you free.
Due to some audio hiccups during this interview, we do apologize for the subtle difference in the recording quality a little over halfway through. Thanks, friends!CONNECT WITH OWL & KEY:

I want you to close your eyes for a moment. Zoom out on your life. Look at it from a birds’-eye view. What do you see? Where are you living with intention and purpose? Where are you living out of alignment? In those places where you’re living in your truth, what kind of impact are you making on the people and things around you? In the areas where you’re not in alignment, what’s the impact there?
What you may observe is that where you are living with intention and purpose, you are making a much more meaningful impact on the world around you. And where you’re living out of alignment, you may be making smaller waves and/or potentially even a negative impact.
Our guest today, Jess Smith, lives on purpose. In every aspect of life. Among many other roles, she is primarily a mom of two, a wife, industry leader in sports and the Head of Revenue for the Angel City Football Club. She is paving the way for what impact can look like at scale in sport.
Jess joins us today to share her strategies and stories for how she leads with purpose and prioritizes her time for the greatest impact in all areas of her life. My favorite story, in particular, weaves her entire life’s journey together and exemplifies the true ripple effect she is making on the world around her. Be sure to listen until the end where she talks about leading a breakout session on the valuation of women in sports for hundreds of industry change-makers during an ESPNW event - all while holding her three-year-old daughter on her hip.
Jess has many stories of impact. Our conversation just scratches the surface of what she’s doing in the world and what’s to come. Be sure to head on over to the links below to follow along on her journey and to get to know the massive impact that she and Angel City are having on sports, the Los Angeles community and the world.

Throughout our lives we will all experience hard things. Some of us will go through different versions of "hard", and most of us will go through this cycle multiple times. So if this is unavoidable, what can you do to prepare yourself for when life feels too hard?

How often are you focused on what’s not going well or what’s not enough in your life? Quite often, right? We’re naturally wired to find the gaps, the problems, the challenges to keep us safe and stable. Unfortunately, that mental programming can influence the trajectory of our lives.
What if you could rewire that thought pattern? Not by dismissing the challenges but by pairing that thinking with what’s going well. And over time, you reprogram your thinking to naturally, effortlessly reflect on the challenges and what’s going well, equally. Sounds ideal, right?
Our guest today, Steph Hauser, and her husband, Ben, developed this practice for themselves and their family in the most dire of life experiences. Their son, Zev, was born very unexpectedly at 23 weeks gestation, which is under the current age of viability for sustaining life outside the womb.
From day one, when they were told again and again that their son would not survive for so many reasons, Steph and Ben continued to flank any devastating news with, “Yes, thank you. Now, tell me what’s good.” That resilient question not only brought light to every conversation, but it instilled massive hope in the journey.
“Tell me what’s good” became a life philosophy, a mantra, a way of being.
It’s a practice that we wanted Steph to share with you all today. Be prepared for a story of “survival, surrender and hope,” as Steph puts it. Be prepared for your life to feel different immediately after listening to Steph’s words of pure honesty and inspiration.
Steph and Ben are a testament to what’s possible when you are intentional and committed to your lifestyle design. They are a shining light of hope and possibility for us all.
MORE ABOUT STEPH:
Stephanie Hauser is the Co-Founder and Executive Director of 4those, a nonprofit dedicated to bringing healing, hope, and possibility to families who have experienced the journey around extreme prematurity. She is also the host of The Zev Project podcast, which first tells the story of her son Zev, born at 23 weeks, and the incredible and impossible odds he fought to overcome and the hope they reclaimed in the process. Using a key strategy in her life that she calls “Tell Me What’s Good,” Stephanie explores how hope and surrender upset the common narrative and provide a more balanced and engaged posture when faced with some of life’s biggest challenges. Through the nonprofit, the podcast, and a forthcoming book, Stephanie aims to encourage others in their own difficult journeys to believe in possibility, reminding them that there is beauty and abundance to be had along the hard road. Stephanie lives in northern Colorado with her family of four boys ages 6-and-under, and co-owns FOX•DOG COFFEE, a local coffee shop dedicated to loving, serving, and inspiring their community in radical ways, with her kick-ass husband, Ben.

Quantum physics states that mass and energy are interchangeable, and consequently that mass is merely a manifestation of energy. This means that everything, including humans, is energy stored in mass particle form.
Put simply...Everything — Including the Human Body — is Made of Energy.
Krista and I have gone pretty deep in exploring self, health, and healing over the last decade, and this has certainly claimed a spot at the top of my charts, and has sparked my interest to continue to go deeper.
Recently, through a series of personal growth journeys and network connections, I was introduced to our guest, Jeremy Stich. Jeremy and I exchanged conversations for weeks leading up to our time together onsite at the Ammortal Institute in Lexington, Kentucky where I was invited to experience a very unique wellness modality that merges cutting-edge, evidence-based science with ancient wisdom to activate, align and revitalize the body and mind, through the use of electric and magnetic fields.
The term Bio-Energetics is likely going to be a new one for most who are listening, but surprisingly, this practice has been around since the late 1800's. Bioenergetics is a field in biochemistry and cell biology that concerns energy flow through living systems. And in the early 1900s, energy pioneers like Tesla and Lakhovsky recognized the tremendous effect electrical fields and biofields impart on biological life (from insects to humans). Now, the scientific community is revisiting these powerful sciences, ushering in exciting and societally beneficial developments, being pioneered by folks like Jeremy and his team at Ammortal.
What was experienced onsite with Jeremy was a complete recharge, literal energy currents flowing through my nervous system and body, holding a device in my hands that looked like a glowing crystal ball, to recalibrate the "kinks" and imbalances of my being down the cellular level. A fascinating journey.
In this episode we talk about Jeremy's seminole life experiences that lead him to this field of wellness, the science behind it all, what's happening in the body during a treatment, the theory of manifestation, and so many more brilliant pieces of wisdom that anyone can apply to their own health, healing, and lifestyle.
MORE ABOUT DR. JEREMY STICHReformed ER physician, Jeremy Stich, began his healthcare journey in emergency medicine before several personal and familial health-related experiences led him to seek alternative ways to pursue health. Thinking outside the box, Jeremy gained experience in precision genetics, several entrepreneurial endeavors, consulting, wellness technology, and eastern medicine training, to name a few. Creator of the BioEnergetic Institute and currently serving as the CMO for Ammortal, Inc., Jeremy is able to bring his unique blend of eastern and western medicine and a deep understanding of quantum physics to patients.

Something magical happens in the presence of deeply nourishing relationships. Inversely, pain and drain can happen in the presence of toxic, non-reciprocal relationships. Don't be afraid to do a drives & drains audit on your relationships. Be intentional about who you spend time with, because the quality of your life depends on it.
We've all heard the statement, "You're the product of the five people you spend the most time with". Crazy enough, it's true. And for some reason, unlike that of fitness, nutrition, and mental health, our culture has yet to prop up "community" as a pillar of holistic well-being. Further (like most of the wildly important aspects of living) we aren't taught the skills and strategies in order to create healthy relationships from childhood and into adulthood.
In this episode we dive into why community is in fact one of the main drivers for health and growth. We debunk outdated myths about making friends as you age. Share helpful strategies for how you can really invest in building lasting, symbiotic relationships that serve everyone. And the always challenging topic of setting clear and confident boundaries.

Life is energy in motion. And your energy defines you. Everything you are, do and become in life depends on how you relate to and manage your own energy.
"What we have called matter is energy, whose vibration has been so lowered as to be perceptible to the senses. There is no matter. " - Albert EinsteinEnergy consciousness helps us remember that we are all energy and everything is energy. Our thoughts, emotions, words, actions, experiences, behaviors, physical bodies, and all the surrounds us. It's energy. We cannot create or remove energy, but we can direct it and transform it. If we become aware and know how.
And in the the ever-changing reality we live in, where energy is constantly transforming all around us every day, we have to adapt to and work with that evolution both inside and outside of ourselves. So how can you start?
With your attention, you can focus the energy. With your intention, you can form it and direct the flow. The outcomes you desire are all found in these practices. In this episode we dive deep into some practical ways in which anyone can become more energy conscious through real-life examples and actions we've taken with the energy of our lives, and the outcomes we've seen come from honing these skills of guiding and transforming that energy.
This one is special, my friends. Settle in and let's talk for a minute about death and then life. In that order.
Not something you likely think about each day, or at all, death that is. And I'm certain that many of you listening today haven't had a sudden reckoning with your own mortality. It's not something I would ever wish on anyone in life, to stare directly at the end of your rope, especially before you're ready, and find out what it truly feels like to not have the time left to experience all the things you've always wanted.
Our guest today is Jason Tharp. He is the Chief Creative Dreamer at Wonderville Studios, author and illustrator of many popular children’s books, a public speaker, husband, father, brain cancer survivor, patient advocate, and a human being trying his best to wander and wonder through life’s imperfections.
Jason's epic story of death and a rebirth from his sudden and unexpected bout with brain cancer will shed light on so many topics that we all deal with in our everyday lives. We dive into Jason's origins and childhood stories that shaped the majority of his adult life, the seizure that started it all, the emotional whirlwind of eventually finding out he had brain cancer, the phone call that shifted everything, and the death of a version of himself in order to truly begin living his life.
From this seminole experience Jason’s found a mission to encourage all people to ponder their dreams, examine their perceptions, and inspire everyone to rewrite their stories. He hopes others will see themselves in his journey, take it to the heart, and be inspired enough to change a life.
Healing takes a lifetime. But living can happen today.
MORE ABOUT JASON:On July 12, 2021, Jason had a seizure which led to the discovery of a grade 4 glioblastoma… and an awakening that Jason wasn’t looking for— or was he? After a lifetime of struggling with negative thoughts and perceptions including self-loathing, weight issues, bullying, playing a victim, self-sabotage, and a bad mental attitude, Jason experienced the clarity that comes with a brain tumor. He became driven to share his story to help and inspire others.
Jason’s mission is to encourage people to ponder their dreams, examine their perceptions, and inspire them to rewrite their stories. He hopes others will see themselves in his journey, take them to heart, and be inspired enough to take action in their own lives.

This conversation is ALL about learning to listen to your heart, and discovering how to trust the calls from within in order to live in alignment with the ultimate version of yourself.
For so many we feel lost in the hustle and bustle of life. We're led down a path that is setup for us by family, relationships, society, culture, and materialistic items that drive us to find our "successes" in life outside of ourselves. Sometimes we need to stop, give ourselves the necessary space, to slow down, and ask ourselves some tough questions like, are we living a life we've designed or a life we've assumed?
These are some deep yet powerful questions we had the pleasure of discussing on this episode with Salman Hatta. Salman is an incredible human and a multidimensional transformational artist who travels the world inspiring people to break free from their limits, while being an example to those looking to live a life of expression, purpose and alignment. Salman shares his transformational story of growing up and achieving many successes after graduating from Wharton and embarking on a very successful career. And still, after all of his material accomplishments, he experienced a deep knowing that something was missing. He felt disconnected from himself, and knew there was something more.
There's a famous quote by Robin Sharma, that wraps up this conversation in such a simple and succinct way, that says,“The mind is a wonderful servant, but a terrible master.”
In order for any of us to fully discover and realize our potential through all this life has to offer, we must first get out of the way of the mind. And fully send ourselves into the guidance and direction of our hearts.
MORE ABOUT SALMAN:
Salman is a multidimensional transformational coach, facilitator, and experience producer who travels the world inspiring individuals to break free from self-imposed limits and see the world from a lens of possibility, love, and freedom. Formerly an investment banker and tech professional with an Ivy League MBA, his fancy degrees and jet-setting corporate life made way for a spiritual awakening, and he is now a bridge for changemakers and other professionals to lead a life of personal expression, purpose and alignment while also achieving their business dreams.
Currently, Salman is the Journey Director for 1heart Journeys, a weeklong plant medicine retreat based in Costa Rica for heart-led leaders to experience life-changing breakthroughs and transformations. He is also a transformational mindset and performance coach, working with leaders and CEOs to produce impactful and lasting change in their personal and professional lives through belief rewiring, flow state access, and embodiment practices that release limitations to their ultimate potential. He has studied and works with different modalities to influence personal growth, including breathwork, psychoactive and non-psychoactive plants, music, and movement.
Salman has trained with The Third Wave Psychedelic Coaching Program, Somatic Breathwork, International School of Temple Arts, Flow Mastery, and Joe Dispenza, and has worked with various plant medicine modalities including nearly 100 ceremonies with ayahuasca.

Have you ever looked at your big plans with absolutely NO idea how you will accomplish them or even start to move them forward? Facing that unknown with complete trust and heart can feel like an impossibility at times. But after listening to today's guest, you will have a whole new relationship with those moments and your big plans.
Amber Zaricor, our guest for today's podcast, lives with the motto "Big Plans, Open Hands." She shares how she's faced many moments of adversity in her lifestyle design journey. But by leaning into her heart and her faith over and over again, she has been able to build a truly inspiring and impactful lifestyle. Your own life will be positively influenced by simply listening to Amber's energy in this conversation. Or as Amber puts it - your cup will be full.
Amber is a small town girl with a heart of gold doing big things in the world. After starting her career in a fast-paced, corporate environment where people were not prioritized, Amber "accidentally quit" - a fun story there - and set out to find who she really is and what matters most to her. From that new awareness, she's made some bold moves in her life, constantly stretching to bigger plans, but always in alignment with her authentic personality and true values. As she shares, her journey wasn’t always easy, but sometimes sitting in the bad is where you grow the most if you let go and let life take you where you are meant to go.
Since that day when she leapt into the unknown, Amber has let her heart guide the way. She has started her own business, Copperheart Creative, where she pours into her clients and team while designing the "heart" into every brand through powerful storytelling. She's gone on to launch a thoughtful podcast featuring those clients and their work. She hosts a self-care conference called Fill Your Cup. She's about to leap into the next big unknown - motherhood! And throughout it all, she has maintained her loving, positive spirit, which you will feel in this episode.
MORE ABOUT AMBER:
Amber is a small-town girl who loves people and gives her whole heart to the world. She moved to Nashville to do just that and is now listed amongst The Top 10 Designers in Tennessee. Amber’s heart comes through in the naming of her Nashville-based branding agency Copperheart Creative, where she leads a team in building brands through powerful and meaningful storytelling. Amber discovered that her super power was serving clients and connecting people through design all while keeping the heart of the clients in every aspect of her work.
Amber is also the co-founder of the Fill Your Cup Conference -- a one-day event for career women to rest, connect, and rediscover their passion. She also created a podcast, Small Business Big Heart, where she shares the inspiring stories of real business owners.
In her free time Amber enjoys filling her cup by journaling, being outdoors, growing in her faith with God, and spending time with her husband and family. Her heart will also be expanding immensely as she welcomes her first child soon!

The topic for today's conversation is all about getting to know what you really need.
And for most of us (at some point along the way) we either don't know what these things are...or we do, and can't seem to find a way of integrating those needs into our lifestyles. It's all normal and expected. Because it's not a skill we are taught, self-care that is, nor has it been something that's celebrated or rewarded in cultures and workplaces to date. It's just something we have to figure out as we go.
And in order to do so, to find out what truly fills our cup, there has to be space in your life. Physical "space"...yes...but even more importantly, energetic space, emotional and mental space, spiritual space, and time space. All for the opportunity to step back, reflect, slow it down a bit, and find the clues in life's data that we are all experiencing each and every day.
There's a famous quote we love that has made it into our work here at Owl & Key, from John Dewey, who was an American philosopher and psychologist, and he says...
"We do not learn from the experience itself, we learn from reflecting on experience"
Our guest today is such a radiant human being. A wife, mother, a business and people leader at one of the nation's largest home builders, M/I Homes, and much more. Reyna's story is full of beautiful reflections and positive change that we can all learn from and be inspired by. Her journey of fully embracing herself and stepping into what she needs to better serve others, is sure to impact folks out there who are listening.
And if you, your teams, or your organization are interested in learning more about the experience Reyna and her team shared, please drop us a line to learn more about the business solutions at Owl & Key has to offer.

How many goals have you set for yourself that just haven't been realized? We've all been there at some point. When we desire something new, or know there's more, but unsure how to make those shifts practically happen in our day-to-day lives.
We have a core belief that sits at the foundation of all of our work/life here at Owl & Key, that breaks down into two very distinct phases.
Phase One: AwarenessIs knowing yourself deeply. Discovering the fundamental truths inside of you. The inner wisdom.
Phase Two: IntegrationApplying this inner wisdom to your lifestyle through the continual process of reflection and integration.
And one cannot exist without the other. Awareness needs integration and Integration needs awareness. It's the art of living. The balance between going inside and coming back out into the world. This practice is learned over time, and the integration phase is the application of your knowledge learned over time. Without that applied knowledge, you cannot change. Thus nothing in your life will change.
In this episode our founders, Krista and Phil Franks, connect to discuss the specific philosophies of integration as it relates to Owl & Key's frameworks, strategic tactics, personal life experiences, and sustainable systems that they've created to support their intentional lifestyle design for nearly a decade.

This conversation you're about to hear is about connection. It's about truth. Finding peace in the unknown. Surrender. Healing. And experiencing the benefits of trusting the real currency of life, that can lead anyone to a life full of purpose, fulfillment, and wealth.
What brought our guest, Ba Minuzzi, to us (and us to Ba), inspiring this connection and conversation, was the pure energy and authenticity she radiates from her mission of redefining wealth through purpose-driven efforts (in every area of her life) that will inevitably create a legacy for the generations to come. Ba has experienced true wealth, and now helps others find their own way in discovering what it means to be "rich".
In this episode Ba shares:

UMANA is pioneer in the concept of purpose-driven family office and is revolutionizing the wealth management industry. At UMANA Family, Ba primarily focus is to create wealth aligned with one’s values. As of today, UMANA's current AUM is over $370M.
UMANA House of Funds focuses on our venture capital investments and has been part of some of the most premium deals in the U.S. Only 15% of decision-makers (partners) at VC firms are women in the U.S. Black women make up 1%, while LatinX women represent 0%. No coincidence that Ba has been lauded for "breaking all the rules" and "rocking male-dominated Silicon Valley" by various mainstream publications. Ba is the 1st Latina to be founder and sole GP (decision-maker) of a venture capital firm in Silicon Valley.
Last but not least, Ba co-leads UMANA Venture Studio (UVS), a brand creation and match-making boutique, re-imagining the relationship between influential individuals and purpose-driven brands. There's often some confusion and mystery when we speak about the "true self". And rightfully so. What is it? Where is it? How do I discover my true self? All questions we've asked ourselves along the journey of life.
Collectively we've drifted away from our fundamental knowing of our truths as a species. Our cultures and constructs have created false versions of self that entangle us in stories and identities. Images of self formed for us by our families, friends, and culture. They are codified by the collective's ideas of success, sex, wealth, our occupation, the things we own, the things we wear and the amount of influence or power we wield. And reinforced by the mind. These external things, and our relationship with the ego, form the false self. They are external beliefs and identities that we put on like a coat. Many, many layers of coats.
So in a sense, our work is not adding anything new, but rather remembering what has been there all along. The self that never left us, but has been covered up by the layers of life. The deep work is taking those layers off, unzipping the coats one by one, and shedding the skins of assumption to begin living in harmony and alignment with your essence. That peaceful state of being where love guides all.
Our founders, Krista and Phil Franks, have spent the last decade doing deep work on themselves to better understand their truths, their purpose, and much, much more. In this episode they sit down to chat and reflect on some of the most important modalities (well-being practices), they've employed to do this instrumental work in their lives that has helped to manifest things such as Owl & Key! Some might surprise you with their simplicity, and others you may be intrigued to learn more. If that's the case, reach out and let us know, we would love to connect on this topic and beyond.

You may be very aware of the talents and skills you possess, but are you crystal clear on your genius? Many of us are not. This is because our unique genius comes so naturally that we may overlook it as the actual superpower it really is. Knowing your strengths is such an asset, but understanding your genius gives you a radical focus for your life.
Our amazingly talented guest today, Chanel Dokun, shares her valuable knowledge on what it means to find your flickers of genius so that you can live life authentically through that lens. Showing up with your unique genius can make a lasting ripple effect everywhere you go.
Nurturing your genius helps broaden that ripple effect on the world. Chanel helps us practically think about how to carve out time and space for ourselves to do that. She helps us release the guilt about creating that time knowing that ultimately, if we don’t, we end up assuming the lives of others instead of thriving in our own authenticity.
Fill up your cup each day, friends. Make it indulgent. As Chanel shares, you are valuable, and you are worth it. And when you fill up your cup, you can go help fill up others’, and that’s one of the most valuable gifts you can share with the world.
If you love the conversation, be sure to check out Chanel's new book Life Starts Now: How to Create the Life You’ve Been Waiting For.

At some point along the ride we've all heard or said the phrase, "It's easy being a kid". But is it really? We think not.
The environments for our children are shaping them from the earliest onset of life. On the home front, at daycare, early education, social circles, the list of influences goes on and on and on as we age and become more aware. And that's how we grow, how we learn. But unfortunately, children at large have been left to "figure it out" the hard way without the necessary tooling and strategies to really understand what matters most...themselves. To truly discover and ignite their emotional intelligence, their creativity, their intuition, their trust and beliefs of self, and so much more.
So what does it take to help a child become the creator of their destiny and avoid some of the modern pitfalls our youth are experiencing today?
Our guest is Katherine Parker, Founder of Boundless Kids/Teens – a program dedicated to helping today’s youths envision the future, set goals based on this vision and create a plan to start achieving their goals, one day at a time. And not in the ways that you might imagine.
MORE ABOUT KATHERINE:Katherine strives to live every part of her life around the mantra, “Yes, You Can!” This spirit is the driving force behind her Boundless journey. Her goal is to impact over ten thousand young people through the Boundless Kids Kamp, with at least half coming from inner cities and low-income households. She also aspires for the Boundless Kids Book to earn the title “best-seller” and reach the hands of fifty thousand children. Long-term, she anticipates the Boundless Ranch being known as one of the top 10 wellness hubs worldwide.
Katherine Parker lives in Brentwood TN, just south of Nashville, though she thrives in the outdoors. Her hobbies include mountain climbing, camping, traveling, and documenting her adventures through photography. Some of her most exciting excursions include climbing Mt. Sherman – a 14er in Colorado – swimming in the cenotes of Tulum and taking a hot air balloon ride through the Denver skies. She is passionate about health and enjoys crafting a home-cooked meal and challenging herself with consistent, arduous workouts. Even in her spare time, Katherine is always striving to get 1% better each day by reading, learning, and absorbing new information.

Often when we talk about living a life of intention, and it can easily be perceived that everything will then become easy or happy all the time. But in most cases when you choose intentionality, it requires the uncomfortable process of chipping away at the familiar comforts all around you. Intentionally disrupting your inner and outer experiences in order to live the life you desire.
Our guest today is Hanna Balla, who is a seasoned lifestyle designer, an adventurous world traveler, an incredible human, and a dear friend. In this episode, Krista sits down with Hanna to discuss the topic of intentional disruption that's been bubbling to the surface for them both, and felt this connected conversation needed to be shared. We hope you enjoy, my friends.

Consider these questions. Have you ever walked into a room and suddenly felt a change of energy or the shifting vibe of the room? Maybe a wave of sadness, happiness, or tension in the air. Or maybe you have had an intuition or hunch about something and it came true? Have you ever watched a show or seen a medium or psychic in person and wondered how on Earth is that even possible?
The reality is these energetic insights are real, and we all have access to them. Whether tuning into our own energy or using our empathic abilities to better understand others, we all have the ability to tap into the energetic level. And when we honor these inner knowings and bring these insights into everyday life, our experience transforms.
Our guest today, Lisa Noland, shows us how. In this episode, Lisa gives us a deep dive into her life’s journey of finding her unique gifts and using her medium and physic abilities to help others on their own life paths. She talks about how we can set the intention for what energy we want to keep and what we can let go. She shares tips, tricks, and exercises to help change the energy in any room, and she talks us through how to tap into our own empathic energy, ultimately helping us to better connect with others.
Lisa also shares her emotional story of going through breast cancer and a house fire all in the past year. While the year has been tough, she has an amazing attitude and outlook on life and shares a favorite philosophy of ours that she keeps top of mind - "how is this cancer happening FOR me, instead of to me?” Hearing her perspective on this is powerful. She guides us on how to seek the lesson in any situation to access our most rewarding learnings in life.

We all have a wonderful tool in our heads called...the brain. Our minds are such a powerful gift, yet it can also be our greatest demise. When used in overdrive, the mind will create an experience for us that is a facade of what we 'think' we want, rather than what we know we need.
And inside of us all is also the ability to feel life. A sense of life beyond the form as we can interpret with our known senses. What some call intuition, energy, and frequency. It's arguably the most influential piece of our collective puzzle, and yet, we've tuned it out so much in modern culture and society.
The pivotal choices are how much of each tool do we use? how? for what? and when?
In this episode Krista and Phil dive into building a relationship with your intuition, understanding that your brain is a powerful tool, how you begin to experiment navigating the differences between the head and the heart, using each for unlocking your life inside and out, and providing real-time examples of this topic at work in their own lives.

We live in a very rushed society. We’re constantly crushing through life’s to-do’s while also moving as quickly as possible to “what’s next.” This is one of the most common topics we hear with new Strategic Planning for Life participants.
If you ever find yourself in that same rushed, high achieving situation, you’ll resonate deeply with our guest today, Hannah McKee. She is a seasoned, successful marketing professional working with large, global companies. She’s traveled the world, speaks multiple languages, and has led a wildly adventurous life. This woman knows very few bounds when it comes to accomplishing her goals.
Each of those achievements, though, came with a bit of a “time stamp” and an expectation of exactly how it should happen.
As Hannah started planning for 2022, she realized there was a bit of a gap. She wasn’t sure what was next after the pandemic. She didn’t necessarily know what should happen or when it should happen. That’s when Hannah reached out to us about the Strategic Planning for Life program.
Through her lifestyle design experience, she got clear on what she truly wants and how to prioritize her time in alignment with those things. She let go of the rush and started focusing on what was actually most important to her. And instead of defining goals like she always had in the past, she let time go completely and allowed her goals to unfold.
Within a few months, she was settled in at a beach house with her family, living her best life, taking bike rides along the beach and visioning even further out into her future. And that’s where we got to connect with her for this episode. As you can imagine, the internet at a beach house can get a little spotty. But, I think we can all agree that we’re in full support of exchanging a bit of audio clarity for some incredible, best-life beach time.
Enjoy the conversation, friends, and when you’re finished, hop on over to the link in the show notes to connect with Hannah! And if you’re wanting to learn more about how you can stop the rush, enjoy life’s simple pleasures and live more of your best life, hop on over to owlandkey.co to connect with us.
MORE ABOUT HANNAH
Hannah McKee is a recent Strategic Planning for Life grad. As we got to experience in Hannah’s work, she fearlessly tries new things in life, constantly learning, evolving and ultimately, creating a sense of happiness for herself and others. She’s a lifelong learner and achiever, but more than anything, she’s constantly seeking genuine, diverse connections that lead to meaningful shared experiences. Whether she’s working or playing, she brings a sense of joy and inspiration to everyone she meets. Professionally, she’s a passionate leader driving marketing functions for the US and Latin American markets for some of the world’s largest brands. And of course, she has an entrepreneurial spirit that has her adventuring into other opportunities when she’s not doing all of that. Hannah is one to watch and connect with, as she is constantly inspiring others with her life’s pursuits.

What happens if we actually give ourselves the permission to say what we truly desire, regardless of how "crazy" or "absurd" it might seem in the moment, with a complete disregard for any and all perceived constraints? Then what happens when we write it all down, talk about it, and spend time with the possibility of these absurd ideas?
In this episode we sit down to discuss one of our favorite practices in our lifestyle design work, and that's our absurd lists. This simple exercise, found in the Strategic Planning for Life framework, is designed to put the absurd ideas into focus and in your purview by implanting the subconscious mind to begin working for you, and looking for the gateways of how these ideas become possible.
We talk about how we continue to do this in our own lifestyle, why it's so important to create the space to elevate your thinking and feeling, the outcomes after seeing the impossible become possible, some hot seat questions on our current absurd ideas, and how this simple thought exercise can change the way you live your life.

It’s not often we get to meet someone who is as passionate about lifestyle design as we are. So when we meet someone who has been doing it for themselves, their partnership, their 7 children, 19 grandchildren, multiple businesses and a large community over the course of multiple decades, we want to hear all their wisdom. We figured you might also like to hear from them.
Our guest today, Warren Rustand, is FULL of that wisdom. He and his wife have been practicing “life by design” since they met in their mid-20s. During their time together, they’ve raised a successful, happy, high-performing family while also balancing big responsibilities in their careers and community.
Warren has no small resume. He has created, led and grown many successful private, public and not-for-profit entities. He has also advised presidents and been recognized in the sports Hall of Fame. Most importantly, he and his wife have led a life of intention, and they’ve been able to see the ripple effects of their very focused, diligent actions.
We feel fortunate to share with you what he has learned along the way. He gives us hope and excitement for the long-term benefits of lifestyle design while filling our tool belts with practical things we can do now in today’s current landscape.

The best way to summarize this episode is by referencing a favorite children's book of ours called, "Jonathan James and the Whatif Monster", by Michelle Nelson-Schmidt. A story of a young boy who finds himself in a myriad of new and uncomfortable situations as he grows up. From trying new foods, to starting a new sport, or simply trying his first high dive jump at the pool. Whenever Jonathan James finds himself here, he hears his "Whatif Monster" asking all kinds of questions to stop him from trying something new: What if it's scary? What if they laugh? What if it's hard? Finally, Jonathan James has some questions of his own: What if they don't? What if it isn't? What then? What if none of that is true?
We are all experiencing our own "Whatif Monster" everyday. And beyond that, we are faced with the familiar programming, the constructs, that have been formed from years and years of these installed beliefs of self. Tune into this week's episode to hear how we have faced our own monsters, turned those stories around, and how you can turn negative self-talk and fear into unshakeable confidence.

Most things in this life from personal growth, to building a healthy thriving business, to learning a new skill, you can almost always take those journeys back to the metaphor of the mountain. Hiking, and not leisurely strolls through the woods.(although there is amazing benefit to those too, ha!) but rather the boundary and limits pushing treks through nature's peaks that rise 14,000 feet or more and dwarf the ground below. To ascend these mammoths on earth, you need to develop a whole new relationship with the summit...the destination. In fact, it's not about the destination at all. And to survive then thrive on these many treks of life, you must be ultra present and tuned into each and every step along the way. That, my friends, is the ticket to summiting life's peaks, and then you find there are many, many more summits to explore.
Our guest today has taken many treks throughout his life, and continues to do so both metaphorically and also on the real rocks around the world. Andy Bailey is an entrepreneur, business coach, writer, and public speaker. Andy learned how to build great organizations by building a great business, which he started in college then, grew into an Inc. 500 multi-million dollar national company that he successfully sold and exited. He then founded Petra to pass on to other entrepreneurs, business owners and leaders the principles and practices he used to build his successful enterprise, which are rooted in the Rockefeller Habits methodology
In this episode we discuss topics like Andy's entrepreneurial origins, his revelations of what wealth means in his life, how discovering clarity is the gateway to growth in life and business, and much more. Check out the show notes to learn more about the work Andy and his teams are doing in the world at Petra and beyond.
Andy's Bio:In addition to building a successful company, Andy founded the Wireless Reseller Council and served as the regional membership director for the Entrepreneurs’ Organization East Region, encompassing 18 chapters in the eastern U.S. Recently he was named the new Membership Director for EO’s West Coast Region, and currently serves as president of the EO Nashville Chapter, named one of the fastest growing EO chapters in the world. He is a two-time finalist for Nashville Executive of the Year and has been honored as Nashville’s Volunteer of the Year.

In today’s employment landscape, companies are transforming the way they support their employees’ development. They’re going beyond professional, skill-based training and instead investing in the “whole person.”
Our friend, partner and Strategic Planning for Life grad, Liz Ference, is on the forefront of that change with her work at Mattel. If you or your children have ever played with Barbies, Hot Wheels, Fisher Price, American Girl or Mega, you’ve been the fortunate beneficiary of this company’s massive creative power. Their purpose is to empower the next generation to explore the wonder of childhood and reach their full potential.
With Liz and her team’s leadership at the HR helm, they are living out that same purpose for their employees.
Liz selected Strategic Planning for Life as a potential solution to help their team bring that vision to life. But first, Liz went through the Strategic Planning for Life course herself. She knew that in order to make a program work within Mattel, she needed to experience the impact first.
In today’s episode, Liz talks about her powerful experience with Strategic Planning for Life. Liz shares the far-reaching impacts this work had on her life from her family to her book writing to her time and creativity. And she shares her intentions for this work within Mattel.
Liz is one of the most thoughtful, ambitious people we’ve had the absolute pleasure to be on this journey with. If you’re looking for guidance on how to bring an idea into reality, Liz is your person. And if you’re looking to make a bigger impact in your own life or in your company to support the “whole person” and their potential, you’ll gain so much inspiration from this episode.
Enjoy the conversation, friends, and when you’re finished, hop on over to the link in the show notes to connect with Liz!
MORE ABOUT LIZ
Liz has a superpower to bring any idea to reality. Whether it’s time with her family, a trip across the country, a new book, a home renovation, a friend gathering or an entirely from-scratch global employee experience initiative, Liz creates every experience with grace, intention and incredible energy. Currently, Liz leads Global Employee Experience for Mattel, creating a culture of growth, optimism and wellbeing, where every employee can reach their full potential. She’s a team leader, program/experience designer, thought partner across HR and the business, and certified life coach bringing innovative programs that enable Mattel employees to be their best, whole selves at work and at home. Your time can either be stretched and pulled by external forces, OR you can be the creator of it. We are clearly proponents of creating your time and putting your focus where it matters most.
In this episode, Phil and Krista explore the transition away from "Going 100%, on 100% of things, 100% of the time" to more of a "pie chart" model where you start with 100%, and YOU decide what gets prioritized and when. With that level of intention, you can put your most important priorities first, bucket out enough space for big initiatives and consciously put other interests in the "not right now" bucket. We share stories and strategies for how we do this in our own lives as well as stories that we've picked up along the way from countless others.
Ultimately, we want to answer "yes" to the question: "If you died tomorrow, would you be proud of the way you're living today?" By becoming the creator of your experience and the sole master of your time, you most certainly will always answer "yes" to that question.

We've all been taught what success, or living a good life looks like, right? Generational, cultural, societal influences, and more, all show us what boxes to check in order to feel like we're "doing life well". But why is it that most people get to a point in their lives with all of those boxes checked, yet still feel unfulfilled or unhappy?
In today's episode we discuss the topic of life measures. What you’re measuring in your life will likely be what you focus on. And what you focus on will grow. It will influence your beliefs, habits, and actions everyday. And the outcomes will happen, whether positive or negative in result. The choice is always yours to put what matters most to you at the forefront of your life’s journey. The only question is…will you?

The stories of real people's lives changing with Lifestyle Design and Strategic Planning for Life is what fuels our souls. It's the lifeblood of Owl & Key. The reason we share this transformational work with the world.
And in today's episode, we sit down with our friend and fellow lifestyle designer, Jeff Heuerman, who recently completed Owl & Key’s Strategic Planning for Life Experience. Jeff is a dedicated husband, father, and former professional athlete who spent four years as an Ohio State Buckeye, winning the CFP national championship with Urban Meyer and crew in 2015, and then five years in the NFL as tight end with the Denver Broncos, earning a Super Bowl ring along the way.
From growing up on the gridiron to where he's headed next, Jeff openly shares his journey through the work and how in just two short months, his relationship with himself, his emotions, and his past experiences all shifted dramatically, helping him to unlock more awareness and clarity for the next winning chapter of his life. We think you’ll find a ton of value and insight from hearing Jeff's experiences, and how he's choosing to design his life after football.
We are excited to share this conversation and these reflections with you. Imagine you’re at your desk, working from the comforts of your home or the office, and all of the sudden you get the idea and desire to take a “break”. Perhaps you find yourself unconsciously grabbing for your phone to check Instagram, or pop open the latest tweets on twitter and start scrolling. A small break won’t hurt anything, and then it’s back to the task at hand. Right? Well you'd be wrong.
Some time later you emerge from that abyss you entered and realize you’ve been gone for too long. And then it begins. The feelings of guilt realizing you just wasted valuable time, and then the stress of being behind set in. Or maybe you felt irked and irritated because, well, the "fun" break is now over and you had to get back to your tedious work or task. Hard to tell, but whatever it was, it was likely unpleasant.
So why does this happen to all of us?
That answer, on such a "normal" experience which most of us face day after day, is discussed with our guest today, Simon D., the author of The Habit Reframe Method. A framework which he has designed to help people end their tech addictions and procrastination habits. Simon believes that no one should be held back from achieving greater impact in their life and work. And everyone should have the tools they need to reach their full potential, especially those who are just getting started on their journey from ground zero.
Tune into this episode and unlock so many practical tips on how to develop a new understanding of your habit loops, potential vices, and a clearer, deeper relationship with yourself.

Controlling your spending is hard to do. And not just your money spending. So how do you build an intentional budget for every aspect of spending in your life? The answer very well may be...Frugality.
But not in the old way of thinking about being Frugal. Where words like scarcity and cheap will not be found anywhere near the new, modern definition of frugality from our friends on today's podcast who define frugality as:
The wise stewardship of resources: money, time, relationships, mental space, physical space, and natural resources.
Jen Smith & Jill Sirianni are the founders of Frugal Friends, a podcast featured in noteable outlets such as the Wall Street Journal, Investopedia, and Apartment Therapy, and impacting over two million people and counting with their content today, These two and their team are building a community helping others to gain a little more control of the countless directions your resources (starting with money) are being pulled, through the art of frugality and also a few laughs. If you're trying to save money, spend less, adopt minimalism, pay off debt, reach financial independence, and just looking for more "freedom" in your life, these two are for you.
In this episode we discuss the origin stories of both Jen & Jill, and how each of them took extreme measures to gain control of their financial mindsets and outcomes. How knowing yourself is the best first step in understanding your finances. How Modern Frugal Living is a foundational step to achieving financial freedom helping you achieve all of your financial goals faster. And much, much more.

Imagine your perfect day. What would you do? Where would you go? How would you spend your time? Would you be there to see your children’s firsts? Would you do the work that you actually love? Perhaps you've never given yourself the permission to ask this question. Why?
Because we've all been told the lie that we can't. Or we shouldn't. Or it's not possible. All of which isn't true at all. We all have the ability to create our freedoms (time, energy, financial, career, etc.) that are wildly personal ventures, and completely possible...right now.
The first step is believing that this absurd idea is possible FOR you. The next steps we discuss in this episode to begin to unlock your life's fullest potential!

It’s not a secret that mental wellness is on everyone’s minds these days. It is one of the most prioritized topics within our lifestyle design community when it comes to values and life intentions. Phil and I are in the same boat. We all prioritize and actively work on our mental and holistic wellbeing.
But where we sometimes feel a little at a loss is how we help our children design mental wellness into their lives.
So today, we talk with Dr. Melanie McNally, a Gen Z psychologist, who spends her time trying to help as many tweens, teens and their parents navigate this very topic. She recently advised the White House on the current state of youth mental health and is actively creating solutions to help curve the negative downturn. In a field where many people are feeling under supported and overworked, Melanie is getting creative about how to help our youth become the super heroes of their own lives by reducing anxiety and building confidence.
In this episode, Melanie shares her wealth of wisdom. She provides ideas and tips on how to think about your child’s mental health and how to be intentional about supporting them. We go beyond the tweens and teens and talk about what it looks like to start early, supporting children at the youngest of ages. Even if you don’t have children, this episode will help you reflect on and give you ideas for your own mental wellness practices and how to make them more intentional.
Enjoy the episode, friends, and when you’re finished, please hop on over to the links in the show notes to connect with Melanie! Her content is endlessly valuable.
Now, onto the episode.

Do you know what you're actually capable of? That might be a tough question to answer only because most of us haven't been pushed to the brink through really challenging experiences. In fact, many of us are trying to reduce the discomforts in our lives while searching to find happiness, joy, fun, or enlightenment.
It can start as early as childhood, at least for our generation it happened this way, the teachings and gospel of higher education, stable paying jobs, and finding stability in order to be "doing life the right way". It's too often shared that there's a singualr way to approach a lifestyle, a true travesty. Instead of sharing the tools and methods for self discovery and exploration that can lead to the blooming of a beautiful and authentic life.
But as we can see now from the path less chosen, and our guests can see too, those comforts and the expectations that came with that message, actually are a limiter, a throttle to what we can fully realize of ourselves...on the inside AND on the outside.
Our guests today I am proud to call family. And not in the metaphorical sense. Krista and I have watched Gretal and Steve Adams for some time now, as they have chosen the path less traveled together building Sunny Meadows Flower Farm. Started in 2006, this duo set out on living their life to the fullest through hard work, adversity, discomforts, and with little expectations on what it needed to be. And instead, they followed their inner wisdom to live the life they wanted. On their terms. With full hearts and clear minds.
We hope you enjoy this episode and the powerful sentiments these wonderful humans share about their lives together and the path less traveled. Perhaps you'll find a dirt path in your life that you'd like to explore here soon
ABOUT GRETEL & STEVESteve & Gretel Adams own and operate Sunny Meadows Flower Farm in Columbus, OH. They are first generation farmers and have built their farm from scratch with all of the infrastructure (greenhouses, well, and barns) being new to their property since their start in 2006. Now in year 16 of the business, they employ 20 people during the farm season and focus on building a work culture for a crew that includes multiple languages. Their idea of a sustainable farm is not just about growing practices, it is also about providing a living wage for employees, and farming methods for working smarter to maintain the health of our bodies.

Imagine approaching a giant canyon. And this metaphorical canyon represents a major change you want to make in your life. Perhaps you've always wanted to make your side passion your daily work, AND support your established lifestyle. When you walk up to the cliff's edge it's scary, unknown, the trail is barely visible, and you can't see all the way down into the gaping hole in the earth. So what do you do?
For most, this canyon is what kills our dreams and visions, causing people to turn back, stick with what's comfortable and safe, and hope that one day things will change. All because the path to the other side, where you can see the life you want to be living, isn't familiar or practical.
But what if there was a method to make this shift AND safely transition into the lifestyle you've always dreamed of? Surprise! There is. We call it "The One Foot In & One Foot Out Method".
Tune into this week's conversation to learn more about this method, how it can actually work for things like a major career/work change, and how we've used this method to leave high-paying careers while starting our first business and having our first child.

Lifestyle design is one of the best things you can do for your marriage or partnership. Why? Because it 1) helps build awareness and connection with your partner, 2) solidifies a strong family operating system through values definition and 3) clarifies and unites you and your partner around shared family vision.
All of that ignites massive action and momentum in alignment with what you both want most.
Today, we get to sit down with our friends and fellow lifestyle designers, Kelly & Ryan Rauch, They recently completed Owl & Key’s Strategic Planning for Life Couples Group Experience. They openly share about their journey through the program and how in just two short months, their intentional action has yielded tremendous results for their relationship, their family and their shared real estate endeavor.
We think you’ll find a lot of value and insight from hearing about the inner workings of another relationship and how they design their lives. Their reflections are so relatable and their wisdom is wildly valuable.
We are excited to share their story with you. If you see yourself in their story and are interested in learning more about what you and your partner could get out of our Couples Lifestyle Design work, we encourage you to head on over to owlandkey.co to learn more. You can also email us at hello@owlandkey.co to get started.

Have you ever dreamed of dropping it all, packing up and hitting the road? But that lifestyle feels impossible and illogical?
Today, we bring on a family who will challenge your beliefs of possibility and logic. They took a huge leap of faith, packed up their life and young family and moved out onto the road nearly a year and a half ago. They haven’t looked back since.
Our friends, Chelsea and Mike Skaggs from Rewilding Family, are here to share what they’ve learned on the road about themselves, their family, life and ultimately, what’s most important. Even if the RV lifestyle isn’t for you, there is SO much wisdom to be gleaned from their journey.
We talk about that nagging feeling to make a change like this. We explore what it’s like to shed the worries and layers that keep us stuck in a more comfortable place. We adventure alongside them as they open up about what it’s been like to make the leap and build the lifestyle as they go. And of course, we dig into the profound outcomes that they are experiencing as individuals, in their partnership and in their family.
If you’ve ever wanted a glimpse into what it might be like to turn your whole life on its head, this conversation is a must listen. It’s a powerful look at what it feels like to detach from a life that is “comfortable,” inauthentic and less fulfilling…and leap into one that is wildly uncomfortable, authentic and deeply meaningful.
When you’re done, please visit Chelsea and Mike at one of the links in the show notes to say “Hi!.” You’re sure to be inspired by their constant exploration of the inner and the outer world.
MORE ABOUT CHELSEA & MIKE

Could you accomplish a goal by not focusing on the goal at all? We think so. Because the outcome, the goal, isn't the game at all. And most of the time our goals come to life in ways that we never could expect. Sometimes the how isn't even available until you go down a road to discover and reflect on what's possible. So what happens if we embrace this fact?
Now we value and appreciate the definition of conscious goals, we have many every year, but only first by defining, unlocking, or reaffirming our life's intentions. The way in which we want to feel and experience life's journey. We've done this in our own life, and now have helped many others do the same through Owl & Key's lifestyle design framework, Strategic Planning for Life.
In this episode we unpack the last 5 years of our journey and the evolution of one of our biggest goals...creating Owl & Key! Listen in on our own reflections and how we allowed our goals to evolve and become exactly what they needed to be.

We all need a guide. Whether we know it yet or not. Each of us only knows as much as our familiar patterns allow. We can be our biggest barrier to growth if we let it. And this is why we feel it's imperative to look outside of ourselves as a compliment to the deep inner work that has cultivated the most powerful transformations.
In this episode we discuss our personal examples of growth and transformation through others' wisdom, insights, guidance and support. How we found the right guides at the right time. And some of the biggest outcomes we've experienced from going outside of ourselves to find growth in our lives together.

This time each year, just after starting the next journey around the sun, there's an equal amount of excitement and tension. From new intentions, goals in which we all aspire, or the small movements we've committed to making each day to change something in our lives, the proliferation of uncertainty begins and thus the challenge to stay committed to our visions becomes real. Our guest today is a bright light. Becca Apfelstadt is a powerhouse of creativity, community and service. She is a mama of two, a wife and the co-founder and CEO of treetree, a thriving B2B marketing agency.
She’s spent the last 10 years actively building her life and business, ultimately achieving great success in areas where others told her it wasn’t possible. She was “doing it all,” beautifully - at least that’s what was happening on the outside.
On the inside, though, stress was taking its toll on Becca’s body. As she continued days full of multi-tasking and longer hours, she started to feel the impact on her energy and overall health. In her words, she became “one of those medical case studies of what stress can do to the body.” That new awareness triggered Becca to take a deep dive into her well being and start redesigning her life around what mattered most - her health and her time with the people she loves most.
Becca’s mission has always been to help others shine their brightest. And she delivers in this episode as she shares the tools and resources that she has used to start redesigning her life for a new kind of success. She talks about how she started analyzing her time, how and what to delegate, mindfulness and the process of going from “doing” to “being.”
Becca’s story is one we can all relate to. As you kick off this new year, we hope this episode is a good reminder to design your life around your own personal success metrics so that you can shine your brightest in 2022 and beyond.
Enjoy the episode, friends!

Today, we have the joy and pleasure of bringing you a powerhouse of lifestyle design and transformation. Our friend and mentor, Regan Walsh, literally wrote the book on letting your heart be boss, shedding your shoulds and going for it. She’s also dedicated the last 10 years of her career to helping executive-level women do just that. But her words of wisdom are applicable to anyone looking to shift their lives.
In today’s episode, Regan shares stories from her own journey through self-transformation while graciously serving up her best recommendations for how we may all continue to do the same.
It’s an inspiring and super enjoyable conversation about making different choices on things like cookies at 10 p.m, all the way to leaving marriages and jobs. Her relatable reflections remind us all to dial up guts over fear, have the courage to speak our wants and needs, and ultimately, bet on ourselves.
Settle in and join us for a fun conversation with this wonderful guide. Who are you? Yeah...who are you? A question that seems simple at first glance, but in reality is a much more intricate and interesting inquiry.
We are complex beings, created through a cosmic and miraculous process, influenced by energetics from all that we consume starting the day we are born. We bounce around in this wild world of almost 8 billion people who all are unique in their own ways. So how do we understand who we are amongst it all?
Insert Human Design. It’s a logical system that brings together principles of The I Ching, astrology, Kabbalah, Hindu-Brahmin chakra system, and quantum physics. Your Human Design Chart is calculated using your birth date, time, and place, to reveal your unique genetic design.
Our team at Owl & Key, along with our amazing guest today, share a fascination with radical self discovery and would easily classify ourselves as modality junkies on a journey to collect more wisdom, data, and insights on who we truly are and who we are becoming.
Nikki Brafman is a Spiritual Life and Business Coach, Manifestation Teacher, Podcast Host, and Mom. She uses Human Design, her business acumen, and her deep curiosity to show people that they can get exactly what they want by returning to their unique selves. She helps burnt-out souls, solopreneurs, and corporate teams to explore inner genius and balance burnout and the chaos that innately comes from living life in the flow of your own genius.
In today's episode, Nikki explains Human Design and how using your Human Design Chart can help you live more in alignment with your unique energy. She dives into why you may feel like it's hard to make decisions, why you might get burnt out at society's current pace or even why you might feel so different from everyone around you - even your closest family.
Nikki even does a short reading for us and our boys at the end of the episode. Just 10 minutes with the Charts helped us better understand how our 4 and 1 year olds operate similarly and much differently than us and each other. We continue to go deeper with this work, and we hope you find just as much value in it!
You're sure to get some powerful self-reflections from this episode. And when you're done, head on over to Nikki's website to get your Human Design chart.

What is your relationship with money? We all have one. And we all have our own stories about that relationship. Stories that are deeply rooted in our past. Stories that we’ve picked up in our youth and that have compounded throughout our adult years.
Stories that can make a BIG impact on how we live and design our lives today.
In this episode, we dig into the money story deep end with our guest Ashley Paré. She is a leadership and negotiation coach with a background in corporate Human Resources. While her career has been inspiring, I think what’s most compelling is the journey she’s been on to heal her own relationship with money. And how she now uses that as the foundation for her work today guiding others on their own healing expeditions.
This conversation will spark immediate reflection and insights for you as you listen. Through her relatable stories and practical strategies, Ashley gives you the keys you can use right now to start (or continue) unraveling from the stories that show up in your own life. And start living with more freedom.
She did for me, at least! As you will hear in the last 15 minutes of the episode, Ashley does an on-the-spot session on my money stories. Let me tell you - we recorded this episode weeks ago, and the insights she helped me unlock in those 15 minutes have transformed the way I think about money in my life and business.
So without further adieu, here is Ashley. We’re excited for you to dive in, friend, and can’t wait to hear what you unlock.
Enjoy the episode!

In this episode, we touch on a topic that all humans experience but that many avoid. The topic is often referred to simply as “sex.”
But as we’ve learned from our own experiences and conversations with experts like Alisa & Tony DiLorenzo, the topic can and should be expanded to “intimacy.” We’ve added “intentional” for the purposes of this community because we believe that as we become more aware of who we are, what we value and what we truly want in intimacy, we can be more conscious about how we design it into our lives and shared experiences with others.
In this episode, we reflect on what triggered us to have this conversation: Goop’s new Netflix series, “Sex, Love, Goop.” The first few episodes have had us building more awareness of ourselves and each other over the last 24 hours. It’s been fun and connective, and we see how the insights will help us to further mold our relationship intentions for the year ahead.
So in our dialogue today, we open the topic to you all and explore intentional intimacy more in depth using our own relationship as an example.
We believe this topic can have massive ripple effects in all of our lives. Bringing it to the surface, talking about it and holding safe space for dialogue can be healing and transformative to our own lives and the lives of others.
We hope that the conversation ignites reflection, conversation and connection for all of you. And we’d love to hear about other philosophies, tools and insights that you're deploying to be more intentional in your own relationships.
Enjoy the episode, friends!

What does it actually mean and feel like to be present? A term we have all been hearing more and more as meditation and mindfulness have made a surge in popular culture. It becomes a daunting task without the right tools, skills, and training to overcome and build a new relationship with our ego; the persistent culprit always trying to take us away from where we are.
Juan is my teacher. Our teacher. My wife and I found Juan at one of the most transitional times in our lives, as we were leaving established careers, rebuilding trust and connection in our relationships, unraveling from many of our assumed constructs, and bringing life into the world as we expected our first son. Layers upon layers that created a suffering we had never experienced before. But that suffering and pain was also the invitation. Our invitation to embark on a journey of exploration and betterment with little idea of what was on the other side. But we knew it was time.
And now...Years removed from the faithful coffeeshop connection with Juan...We have changed. And changed, not in terms of what we've accomplished (although that IS a byproduct), but rather how we now experience our lives. The perspective and connection that we feel daily due to the practices and skills we've installed, and continue to install as we grow. A journey that will never end, and continue to provide opportunity through adversity and suffering, but now we are equipped to handle those hardships and still find peace, joy and love as we go.
Juan Alvarez is a certified life & executive coach helping leaders stay present, peaceful, and purposeful; so they can bring their best selves to the world. He's touched thousands of lives around the world directly and indirectly through his work helping these leaders and people succeed.
There are endless teachings in this short 45 minute conversation with Juan that I hope you all will find useful in your own journey. We touch on topics such as beginning your practice, identifying your ego vs. your truth, attention being the key to presence, what happens when you dissolve your ego, and so much more!
JUAN'S BIO:
When I was eighteen years old, my father died from a brain tumor, and I took over his business; that was the beginning of my journey as an entrepreneur and executive.
I quit my job as the Managing Director with a global distribution company and spent two years on a personal retreat. It wasn’t as nice as you might think; I faced many demons. ;)
I learned how to meditate with a Buddhist monk at age twenty and have shared that knowledge with hundreds of leaders worldwide.
I hold a certification as a professional coach but see myself more like a teacher and a guide for leaders.
I am originally from Mallorca, Spain, and I have lived in the United States for twelve years.

Sustainability - whether personal or for the environment - is all about long-term balance. It’s about having and keeping high standards while not depleting resources. It’s about progress, NOT perfection. It’s about the connected, collaborative way we all exist...independently and together.
And as our guest today, Jaclyn Tracy, shares, “It’s about taking care of yourself so that you can take better care of the people and the world around you.”
Many of us WANT to live that vision of a more sustainable lifestyle. For ourselves and for the planet. But it can often feel overwhelming...and sometimes nearly impossible. If you’re feeling that way, like we did when we made “Sustainability” a shared core value, Jaclyn confirms that we’re not alone in this feeling.
She shares how in a fast-paced society where we are constantly reaching for the quick wins, sustainability urges us to slow down, zoom out and acknowledge the impact of our consistent, collective actions.
Jaclyn founded SISTAIN, a sustainable marketplace and community, to help us all align our behaviors with those intentions and values. Through her intuitive vision and beautiful execution, Jaclyn and her team help people live a more sustainable lifestyle by thoughtfully curating the most aesthetic, functional products; applicable education and resources; and most importantly, a powerful community of like-valued individuals who truly care about making a more sustainable lifestyle.
Together, we can truly transform our lives and the world.
Whether you’ve been living the sustainable lifestyle for a long time or just getting started, you will appreciate the endless ideas and practical tools and products that Jaclyn shares.
We hope you enjoy the episode, and when you’re done, head on over to SISTAIN to join the community.
Enjoy the episode, friends!

Gone are the days where money and transactional employment rule the workforce.
Today, people want purpose. They want connection. They want their work to contribute to their overall wellbeing. They want to know that the time they’re spending “in the office” not only helps the company achieve results, but that it also fuels their own personally defined success.
This transformation has only been magnified by COVID and the higher level of work-life integration that all companies have experienced.
Great leaders right now are focused on understanding the “whole employee” and then building an environment and experience around that understanding. They’re embedding the “whole employee” philosophy into the core of their culture.
Doing so creates meaningful growth. Leaders report more longevity, more confident leaders, better results and ultimately, life-long brand ambassadors.
As Phil shares in our conversation: “The more you invest in the ‘whole person,’ the longer they stay.”
In this episode, we explain more about what it means to “understand the whole employee.” We share stories of our personal experiences both as leaders and as guides helping other leaders to navigate this big change in our society. We acknowledge and applaud the leaders who are doing or interested in doing this work. And most importantly, we talk about practical strategies that any leader can use today to start doing this work from where they are now.
If you’re a leader who is doing this work or is working to build a culture around the “whole employee,” we would love to hear your thoughts and connect on this topic.

Every leader dreams of a staff who cares as much about their organization as they do. But employees have their own dreams—and there’s a good chance they haven’t connected their job and their aspirations in any meaningful way. In some cases, aspirations and dreams may not exist at all. It’s no wonder people are feeling unmotivated and uninspired in their work today
This week on Unlocked, we're grateful to host Dane Sanders, who is the Co-Founder and CEO of Tell Me Your Dreams. Dane and his team of world-class mental health professionals, trainers, and coaches deeply believe that people should work to live, not the other way around. Their training and coaching frameworks promote proactive mental health, and build workforce cultures that truly focus on people instead of fixating solely on performance.
Tell Me Your Dreams exists to empower both dreams of the individual and the organization to work symbiotically, improving the quality of work and life for every person involved.
In this episode we dig into topics like the "work me" vs. the "real me", understanding all the versions of YOU, the amazing results when companies empower dreams, some very useful strategies Dane uses in his own life to continue waking up, and much more.
Dane's Bio:

We invest in our bank accounts, our retirement plans, our houses, our careers...but often, we forget (or don't know how) to invest in our most important relationships.
Strong, life-long relationships with ourselves, partners, family, friends and community require regular investment.
Those big and small increments of investment compound over time. When you make the time, you ultimately see the return. The richest relationships. The most meaningful moments shared. The hardest times endured. The best of times fully experienced.
How do you make that investment? Do you carve out time each day and each year to intentionally invest in the relationships that matter most? How do you do it?
In this episode, we reflect on our most recent conversation with Simi Botic and Tim Simeone and all their wisdom around investment. We also share how we build a life together through our investment in our own relationship. We share our stories, our practices and our reflections. We talk about how Strategic Planning for Life has been our foundational framework for yielding the most profound return for that investment.
Our intention is to start a conversation that ideally ignites unlocks in your own relationships. And when you have those insights, we'd love to hear about them. We can't wait for you to listen, friend.

Relationships can be challenging. In moments of clarity, you can feel deep love and connection. But in the tough times, it’s easy to judge, blame, get frustrated and sink into disconnection.
Those tough times are defining moments.
We either lean into the adversity with the INTENTION to create clarity and connection. OR we choose to walk away, further enhancing the feelings of disconnection, frustration and frankly, pain.
In this inspiring, fun and honest episode, we sit down with fellow intentional lifestyle designers, Simi Botic and Tim Simeone, to have a real talk about choosing to lean into any adversity and ultimately nurture the relationship.
We explore how that one choice massively transforms our partnerships. We have more love and connection. We honor each other’s growth. We lovingly hold ourselves and each other accountable for our pitfalls. And most importantly, we have more fun on the journey.
Simi and Tim share openly about the tough moment that helped them to align as people, get on the same team and start speaking the same language. That one moment led to building a strong foundation that still holds their relationship, their family and their lives stable today. As their lives evolve, they come back to that foundation - their love, their connectedness to fun, their shared values and their vision for life - to keep choosing each other, the relationship and life they desire.
This is a beautiful and powerful conversation. It is sure to unlock insights into your own relationships while making you smile and laugh along the way.
MORE ABOUT SIMI BOTIC & TIM SIMEONE
From our perspective, Simi & Tim are some of the most genuine, loving, fun souls you could ever meet. They carry themselves and their family with such joy and intentionality.
On the surface, they are thriving partners, parents, creators, entrepreneurs, professionals, friends and family members. But immediately, you can tell they go much deeper than the surface. They are life explorers dedicated to: loving as deeply as possible; learning and evolving individually and together; creating environments and experiences that spark fun and joy in all; and most importantly, doing their absolute best to show up as their best selves in the moment, no matter the circumstances.
They are the parents of two adorable, vibrant little ones. They’re always investing in their family and friends. And they’re thriving in their careers, both putting people and experience first in their unique fields. They’re an inspiring duo, and we highly recommend you connect with them to feel the good vibes they’re putting out into the world.

Our latest conversation was prompted by a powerful reflection Krista shared with our community.
If you value growth, focus more on iteration and less on outcomes. Place more emphasis on learning and evolving versus simply achieving. You will be healthier, happier and so much more resilient.
It's very easy to get caught up in the end result of any experience. The things, the achievements, the accomplishments. It's polarized in media and culture, where we are seeing the outcomes from other people's lives. So naturally, we unconsciously place the value of any pursuit on the outcomes, without any inquisition whether those outcomes are actually what is desired in our own lives. We seek things rather than the process of continuous growth via those pursuits. The scope of our experiences can then become short sighted, focused solely on the quick hits, and solutions that provide unsustainable happiness and well-being.
But how can you start to shift your focus from the things you think you value, to what is truly valuable to you? In this episode we discuss some of our own experiences creating that shift, what it means to value growth vs. and outcome, the importance of having measures along the way, and so much more!

Entering into the unknown can be scary. It can feel directionless and uneasy. But like today's guest, Josie Schweitzer, reminds us:
"It's ok to be in the unknown. It's a good time to get out a map, and get a handle on where it is that you are. The practice is not about letting go [in the unknown], it's about developing the capacity to get over and through any terrain."
Josie has spent her career embodying and curating different yoga styles, landing most recently on a transformative, eye-opening practice called Kotonah Yoga. This practice, and Josie's unique gifts, allow her to speak powerfully to how the philosophies and actions shared in the yoga studio beautifully reflect how we can move through life, no matter the circumstances, with happiness, strength and confidence.
In this inspiring, wisdom-packed conversation, she helps us reflect on where we are and where we are going. She shares analogies that unlock not only body awareness but also reflections and ideas for any season of life. She reminds us of the tools we have in our own toolbox while also adding to that with her deep, direct insights.
In this episode, Josie shares passionately about:

What is a compulsion or a compulsive behavior? By one definition it's an uncontrollable impulse to perform an act, often repetitively, as an unconscious mechanism to avoid unacceptable ideas and desires which, by themselves, arouse anxiety. Often we may think of a compulsion in extremes with the unfortunate disorders such as a compulsive gambling, the many forms of OCD, and more.
But what about "normal" things like checking email, creating and actioning an ever-growing to-do list, or even just the need to be doing something and avoiding stillness? In our own lives we experience and have to work through our "compulsion of doing". The urge to always be creating something, making something, or feeling the need for our daily efforts to be productive.
In this episode we talk through a current cycle of our self diagnosed compulsion of doing, the unconscious behavior of consuming more things to do, how our brains react when we are overdoing life, the power of the pause, how we recognize the onset of this behavior, strategies we use to remedy this very normal behavior, and much more!
Hopefully you can use this episode to reflect on your daily life, and take a powerful moment to intentionally pause.

From a very young age, Ellen Boeder had big questions about our collective connectivity and she wanted to fully understand the relationship with herself and with others.
At the age of 14, in her first week of high school, she was introduced to a therapist who visited her health class, and it was then that she knew psychology (and personal growth) was the path for her.
Fast forward to her first 'real' experience in the field, as a volunteer at a women's prison, Ellen taught creative writing to inmates as a form of therapy and healing. This was the very first time that she had experienced a group of people who were trying to piece their lives back together after immense traumas and hardship. The writing was an exercise in putting all the pieces back together. She recounts what an honor and privilege it was to be trusted and "let in" by these women to help transform their lives. And found a powerful life force watching these women pursue and accomplish amazing things from the darkest of places.
Today, after nearly 20 years as a psychotherapist, Ellen is focused on helping women and couples via relationship therapy and couples coaching. Her core belief is that with adequate and effective support, the challenges we face in life can ultimately contribute to our evolution and growth—individually, and collectively.
In this episode Ellen talks about
Ellen's Bio:
I pursue training in cutting edge, research based clinical methodologies, as well as the transpersonal practices of meditation, yoga, and energy work. I utilize experiential modalities and body-centered approaches, such as Gestalt and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, which I find deeply enhances the effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral therapy. My theoretical stance is informed by family systems theory, attachment theory, and developmental neuroscience, in addition to my contemplative and transpersonal training and studies.

What would it be like to share every aspect of your life with your partner? The vast majority of us experience a large portion of our lives independent of our partner or spouse. On average, nearly one-third of our lives are spent at work, reconvening on the home front. Many might admit they could never work with their partner in life, but this couple challenges that construct with their unique lifestyle.
In this episode we're revisiting a past conversation with an amazing duo that has inspired us and many others through the way they've chosen to live their lives together. They live a life much, much different than most (and one we can empathize with deeply), where every aspect of their journey is shared. Partners in life, parenting, family, business, and more, Alex and Amy White join us for an intimate conversation on the ups and downs of living a fully (and we mean fully) integrated life.
In this episode we dive into topics such as...
We know you'll find topics in this conversation worthwhile for your journey individually or with your partner in life. We even welcome a little visitor who joins us during this episode. Our youngest son, Paxton makes his podcast debut, so if you hear some "gooos and gaahhs", you'll know he's chiming in!
We're grateful you're here, and know you'll enjoy this episode of Unlocked.

Change is happening all around us, inside us, all of the time. But so often we want to ignore or even rush through changes in our lives. Potentially to avoid the discomforts or struggle associated with it, or we're too busy to slow down and appreciate the changes as they occur. Even the BIG things in our lives, like the birth of a child or the ending of a relationship, we want to breeze through as if nothing else has to change, stacking it on top of everything else we're doing in our lives.
Change is a force function to really assess the constructs and comforts of your current lifestyle. To reassess behaviors, reprioritize time, and recalibrate your energy and efforts. We use the analogy of a perfectly packed bag, holding all the items of your life. And change will be the hands to dump the bag out that was so perfectly packed tight, and you'll be left with the mess to clean up and repack.
Change is also a choice. Not a choice of whether it happens or not, but a choice as to how you want to exist inside of the changes that will inevitably occur along your journey of life.

On the verge of divorce, at the end-road of an 11 year marriage with a family they built together, Tony decided he wanted to throw a BIG Hail Mary as a desperate final attempt to save their relationship. After years of rejection, dysfunction, addictions, financial issues, and more, they had unknowingly fallen into the traps of everyday complacency. Both of them desperately wondered why they couldn't seem to figure out this thing called marriage.
Tony's big idea...A 60 day sex challenge. Alisa, as most would expect, was not on board with this radical idea, as their marriage was in the worst spot it had ever been. But after a day of reflection, standing alone in the laundry room, she had a spiritual intervention that came to her in the form of a question...
"If you aren't willing to try this, your marriage is actually over. Are you okay with that?"
From that moment, their lives together changed forever. They realized the intentional investments in their marriage and in one another was the only way to reckon with the deep cracks in their relationship's foundations. Foundations that they would soon redefine for themselves, and then share with thousands of others through One Extraordinary Marriage.
In this episode, just weeks before their 25th anniversary, we discuss Tony & Alisa's wild personal and connected history, the radical challenge that saved their marriage, conflict cycles, marriage values & visions, how busyness is robbing marriages of joy, the six pillars of intimacy, and how any couple can use simple strategies to begin making their relationship extraordinary.
There is so much wisdom and years of experiences packed into this hour episode with these two amazing humans. If your marriage is at a point where something needs to change, I would strongly encourage you to tune in, follow Tony & Alisa at One Extraordinary Marriage, and grab a copy of their new book, The 6 Pillars of Intimacy.
Tony & Alisa Bio:
As co-hosts of the top marriage podcast in Apple Podcasts, the ONE Extraordinary Marriage Show, Tony and Alisa DiLorenzo speak to a worldwide audience about sex, love & commitment, and challenge every listener to make their relationship a priority. We all go through life, absorbing social constructs from our families, communities, cultures, etc. More often than not, very few of those constructs and what is considered "normal" as a definition of those constructs are authentic to who we inherently are.
In this episode, we explore one of the constructs that we've explored A LOT in our own lives and in our relationship - gender "norms." As we've unraveled from old, untrue definitions of what gender means to us in our own lives, we've redesigned our lives with roles and tasks that are true to who we are instead of those that are traditionally defined by the "gender roles" within a family, business, community, etc.
We use gender to showcase how a construct can be questioned and actually deconstructed. There are endless constructs that plague individuals. Gender is just one of those. Our intention in his episode is to share a dialogue and strategies that spark reflections and potentially change for any listener about ANY construct that is no longer true.

In today’s episode, we talk about the possibility of centering your lifestyle around what you love to do through a real-life example.
My friend and fellow Renegade, Jessica DiCostanzo, shares her journey of discovering her love for horses as a child to designing a life around horses as an adult.
The journey, while clear in reflection, wasn’t linear. It was a winding, ever evolving dance with the Universe. At every stage, Jessica had to iterate and recenter her focus on what mattered most to her - spending the most time possible on and with horses.
Along the way, she learned some valuable skills and lessons. Every career and life step had something to offer that was valuable to her growth and trajectory. She just had to take the time and space to figure out what each of those gifts was.
Through that lens, Jessica has crafted a lifestyle that puts her passion first. Today, she is not only spending time riding and competing, but she is also helping humans help their horses through her business Equivont.com, an online marketplace for horse people.
Jessica’s story is inspiring in that it’s relatable AND aspirational. She has shown how hard work, reflection, and intentional design really can lead to a life of doing more of what you love.
We know it’s not the end of this journey, Jessica, and we can’t wait to see how you continue on serving these majestic animals and people through your passion.
Jessica’s Bio
Jessican DiCostanzo is helping humans help their horses through Equivont.com, an online marketplace for horse people. We believe the idea of space creation and holding space is one of the hardest things to do. And space filling is something that we all suffer from. The often unconscious and unintentional way that we allow our tasks, thoughts, obligations, responsibilities, and more rule our lives with pounding volume , can completely take over our ability to just "be". Just "being" is the state where we can learn the most about ourselves, where meaningful growth happens, relationships deepen, and where life's truths shine through.
Unfortunately, our culture hasn't traditionally celebrated this state of being, but rather, celebrates the hustle and full throttle lifestyle. Our conditioning and habits, groomed through childhood, have formed a societal compulsion to keep doing regardless of how it might make us feel. It may feel uncomfortable to just slow down, take a pause, and allow stillness in your lifestyle to occur. So we avoid it, and think the habitual compulsion will eventually result better outcomes. But this is one of the greatest fallacies that continues to exists.
In this episode we discuss the importance of creating space in your life, how to begin knowing the space you require, what we use to cultivate space in our lives, how space doesn't always involve being still or quite, our personal triggers that tip us off when our space is depleted, and how creating space will allow you to gain an awareness of yourself that will lead to more happiness and joy.

Have you ever faced trauma and adversity that hurt like hell? Maybe with your health, your kids, your family or your business? That pain can often be crippling. But it can also ignite a massive change.
In this episode, we talk with Michelle Mercier, a friend, mom of two young boys and corporate leader turned entrepreneur, who hit her “floor” moment during her youngest son’s health issues when he was just an infant. As she navigated the excruciating process of learning to understand and advocate for his health, she lost her job. A job that was her anchor in a very unknown chapter of life.
Michelle shares her powerful story of how she and her partner consciously decided to leverage the adversity to work in their favor and achieve their ultimate success for this season of life - being fully present in the long process of guiding their children from surviving to thriving.
She did so all while starting a meaningful business as a business strategist, maintaining a supportive relationship with her partner and launching a very successful podcast, “The Resilient Entrepreneur.”
All with intentional design and effort.
And it was just so appropriate that we recorded the podcast on the day that she dropped that same son off for his first day of school.
Michelle is not unique in the fact that she faced trauma and adversity. But she IS one of a kind when it comes to how she uses those tough times to iterate on a life that is most successful and meaningful to her, her family and her business.
The rest of us, especially her business strategy clients, get to benefit from her deep, direct wisdom and her beautiful presence. She brings the personal back into business and uses her lifelong experience with adversity to move leaders from surviving to thriving — a clear theme of what she is here to offer the world.
If you’re in those hard times right now, or if you are still reflecting on tough situations of past, this one is a must-listen. You will know immediately that you are not alone in your hardships and will get only inspiration from her words, stories and strategies for stepping out of being a circumstance to the trauma and into a state of active flow and iteration - even in the hardest times.
We can’t wait for you to meet Michelle and connect with her. Enjoy the episode, friends!
Michelle Mercier, a Business Coach, Motivational Speaker and host of The Resilient Entrepreneur Podcast which debuted on iTunes at #15 in the Entrepreneur category and cracked the top 100 in other countries across the globe. In today's episode we're humbled to share the mic with Brett Kaufman. He's one of the midwest's most influential and creative real estate developers, at the helm of the Kaufman Development, a coach, speaker, advisor, investor, podcast host, and beyond all the accolades in his career, he's a man taking a stance on holistic well-being, mental health, and conscious personal and professional growth.
Brett shares his journey of early life trauma, the memories from his self discovery journey, his early career in banking, foray into real estate, and the three things that eventually "woke him up from his unconscious life" completely changing his trajectory and beliefs in a big way.
From that span of just a few months, Brett began truly authoring his own life, living fully expressed using his profession to express himself and the things he loved to have meaningful impact in the world and other people's lives. All while reckoning with his past influences, beginning his therapy and coaching journeys, helping raise a growing family, and eventually starting his own company.

Alignment is key in any partnership or group. Arguably the most important factor in the health and success of any relationship in business or on the home front.
But how do you create it? How do you merge two different approaches to life, two different families, two different lives? There's an answer...
In this episode we sit down with Amy Jenny and Ben Driskell, a recently engaged couple, to talk about how they've brought their lives and families together using the Strategic Planning for Life framework in order to create and achieve their own definition of success for their growing family.
We tune in with Amy and Ben as they share reflections on their experience of Strategic Planning for Life trip their too to Joshua Tree, they open up about the importance of the process for parenthood and family, the challenges they're facing as they continue to iterate on their life's design, staying true to their values amidst the noise of the world around us, and much more!
We hope you guys will find some value and wisdom from their story for your own. Enjoy!
Pace is defined as the speed of moving forward or ahead. How fast are you moving through life? Have you checked your pace lately? If you feel life is going too fast it’s because you are too busy to enjoy it. And this addiction to speed or busyness is a major cause for a lot unnecessary anxiety and unwanted stress. Culturally, it's not a celebrated state to slow down, and it relates to a bigger topic most of us have felt at some point of not doing "enough". Our constant and never-ending list of to-do will always tug on our minds, but our awareness of the relationship we have with it is the key to a more present and happy life.
In this episode we explore the idea of how we impose our own thoughts, expectations, and perceptions onto ourselves of how fast we need think we need to go. How releasing expectations of when something needs to happen will completely change your life. Stories of how doing less, and being more conscious of speed, can actually lead to experiencing better results. Productive pacing during your days. And more.
Life should be enjoyable, and like almost everything, it's a choice we all have in how we actually experience the journey. What will you choose? Busy all the time, or a pace that promotes presence and well-being?

Imagine putting it all on the line for what you want to do, and not being stuck in what you think you “have to” do. In this episode we sit down with a man who has completely reinvented his life after nearly 12 years of an established career, and eventually realizing that he was unknowingly pursuing a version of success that wasn’t his at all. He’s a husband, a modern father, a recovering accountant, and now…a firefighter! Tyler Selikson is a dear friend of nearly 25 years, and someone who truly embodies what it means to reimagine and redesign a lifestyle.
From years in the restaurant industry to public accounting to a courageous public servant, Tyler openly shares his story of transformation from choosing a college major based on expectations, his early career years of aimlessly chasing money by grasping every opportunity that came his way, and how his whole life was turned upside down which forced him to pause and get intentional.
Tyler openly shares his reflections of the amazing changes he's made in order to live authentically through his values, embracing modern fatherhood, and now getting to spend his time doing exactly what he loves to do each day.
"In looking back now, that’s how I knew I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. Because I was grasping every opportunity that was coming at me, constantly changing, going down this path or that, but I knew I wasn’t happy with what I was doing. Where am I going to go that gives me an opportunity to love what I do, because I didn’t love what I did.”

At times we "hustle" our lives away thinking about and working towards generational wealth to provide a foundation for the family to stand on. Typically, as it does in our culture, these efforts are focused on the money you'll leave as a legacy. But what about the wisdom?

In this episode, we sit down with Ryan Dolan, a fellow intentional lifestyle designer, recent creator of a Strategic Life Plan, Father, Husband, legal connoisseur, and more. Ryan is a friend, a client and someone we truly admire. He spent the majority of his professional career pursuing a version of "success" that he eventually realized wasn't for him at all. What he has unlocked is inspirational, and a story for anyone feeling lost in what they do.
Ryan openly shares his reflections of his experiences before, during, and now after completing his first Strategic Plan, the amazing changes he's making in order to live authentically through his values, and how he fundamentally changed the way he makes decisions now.
Ryan also made BIG career decision right in the middle of his time in the program. Not only did he make this new career a reality in alignment with his life vision, but he's also finding benefits that stretch far beyond work in his relationships, fitness, mental health, sense of adventure, and joy.
"It's a completely different way of making decisions. It changed the inertia from the future- driven, egoic, default state of thinking to this intentional, mindful, value, life-intentioned decision making. And it legitimately caused me to make a big life decision."

On this episode, we sit down with Heather Whaling, a fellow intentional lifestyle designer extraordinaire.
Heather is a friend, a client and someone we truly admire. She is a leader in every sense of the word. She leads in her family as a mother, her company, Geben Communication, as the founder and President, her community making an impact in many areas and as a change-maker on topics like paid maternity leave for all parents.
Heather shares how she has always used values-based decisions to make meaningful impact in her work and life. And now how she's amplified that approach by integrating the Strategic Planning for Life framework, which unlocked and led to achieving a once "absurd idea" - acquiring a business. Not only did she make this possibility a reality in alignment with her life vision (fairly quickly), but she did so in her own unique way. The acquisition was a values-first decision with another leader she aligned with vs. the traditional financial-first approach.
Heather shares her journey from idea to reality while also providing tactical practices she uses to stay in alignment with her values and intentional lifestyle design. This episode is PACKED with inspiring stories and tactical ideas.

We've all heard of ROI (return on investment), but what about a "return on intentions". The world has a polarizing focus on the monetary returns on investments, but what if our lives revolved around other forms of currency and thus other returns?
A return on intention is being clear on what you're putting into any situation in your life, how you want to feel, and crystal clear on how you desire to experience it. It’s here where the focus should be applied. Sure there are tactical and practical considerations that will need to be made, but when the focus remains on the intentions of our experiences, that’s where we will find our biggest returns in life.
Alignment is key in any partnership or group, and will help make relationships thrive. What happens when one party wants to make a big change? How do you prepare for children? How do you know and understand your partners deepest desires. It's not something we're taught how to do once the honeymoon phase wears off. It's intentional effort and strategic work.
In this episode we discuss the profound impacts experienced in our own journey using Strategic Planning for Life as a partners in both life and business. We talk about how you can ignite individual awareness, facilitate cohesion toward shared goals, and then spark aligned action. We share perspectives on the importance of this work for any couple, and practical strategies that will provide an intentional jumpstart in any relationship new and old.
What is your money mindset? How has your history with money affected your present experiences? We live in a culture of more, more, more. Materialism and consumerism still remains the mainstream view, but from all accounts we know that money isn't going to buy us the real meaningful items of life. So why do we pursue it so unconsciously?
We sit down in this two part podcast episode to discuss our own personal relationships with money, how they have evolved over time, discuss our differences as a couple in both life and business, and the situations from our pasts and present that have helped shape our current philosophies regarding this wildly taboo topic.

How would you define your identity and purpose? How entangled is what you do to who you think you are? Is your current belief of yourself actually you? In this episode we discuss how change, exploration, evolution is all good. And how you don't have to do any one thing to "become" anything. There are big differences between becoming something in the world, a contributor to society, and unraveling from everything in order to discovery who you inherently are.
In this episode, in order to showcase the work in real-time, we chose to hit record in the middle of a shared misunderstanding (i.e. argument) where both of our egos were flaring. Briefly after a little spat and disagreement, we pick up the mic to collaborate, reflect, vulnerably share, and take extreme ownership of ourselves in the situation. Tune in to see how it turns out :)
In the movement from unconscious to more conscious, creating more self awareness, you will be hit with very challenging situations internally and externally. In order to have meaningful changes happen in your life, it is inevitable that hard choices will knock on your door. The question is, what will you do when the hard choices are presented to you?
To be clear, we aren't talking about the proverbial "grind" and working tirelessly to achieve any type of "easy" lifestyle. We don't subscribe to that notion. What we are discussing in this episode is the difference between choosing to exist by default, or choose the path of intention.
What a funny word...Success. It has such a broad definition for everyone. A lot of "success" in life has been assumed. Think about it. The definition of success isn't one that you make (without being wildly intentional), but rather it is consumed from your environments, upbringing, culture, society, media, and so much more. But imagine when YOU define success for yourself. How would that change your life?
In this episode we break down our personal and family definitions of "success", strategies how you can start defining your criteria for success, and then start to live it everyday.
Living with intention isn't always realized in the big or tough moments of life. In fact, it is actually the little moments throughout each day where your intentions will showcase the universal magic. By having an intention you are able to recognize your patterns, see your real-life data, identify what you still need to learn from and mend, and above all else, be present in every experience...both the ups and the downs. Micro moments are both where the work happens and where transformation can be realized.
Our work isn't just during our time in our careers and jobs. We spend a tremendous amount of time working away on tasks, however, the "real work" is becoming aware of yourself enough in order to make the changes necessary to build the life that you desire. From the inside out.
We share our practical strategies that anyone can use to begin tuning into themselves more each day, talk motivations and missions being pivotal to your success, and how to create consistent daily actions compound to create massive transformation in your life.
