In this final episode of season one, James and Kevin discuss the recently released "The Batman", directed by Matt Reeves. Spoiler Warning
We explore the character arc of Bruce/Batman, the themes of overcoming grief/trauma, as well vengeance and hope we see explored in the movie. We talk about the role of Riddler, Oz (the Penguin) and Selina Kyle in the story and Bruce's arc in particular.
Kev and I share our own positive and critical opinions of the movie and talk about how it compares to other Batman movies and interpretations of the character and the world, as well as our thoughts on the scene with 'that' character (as predicted by James in a previous episode).
Today Emma and James have a great discussion about "Star Wars : Episode VII: The Force Awakens".
We talk about our experiences of it, the roles and character arcs of the different characters, favourite moments, and the issue of it 'replicating' A New Hope.
Also discussed is scenes which we found worked, didn't work or were uncomfortable in the context of the sequel trilogy, our favourite moments, and where it fits in the overall pantheon of Star Wars movies. We finish with our regular 'recasting' section, where we had a lot of fun recasting the movie.
Today James & Kevin are joined by Drew Brown ("The Doctor") to discuss the MCU movie "Captain America : Winter Soldier".
We talk about our favourite moments in the movie, as well as some of the bigger themes around personal deconstruction, losing faith in institutions, and Steve's own journey.
We also talk where we met this move in terms our own cultural context, and its' bigger meanings for us and how it reflects society. We talk about our favourite scenes, and do our fun "recasting" - with some interesting takes!

In our third full episode, James leads a conversation on the OG superhero movie, Superman The Movie (also known as Superman 78). This week Emma couldn't make it so Kevin & James are joined by Jordan (AKA The Batman) to discuss this movie.
We talk about each of our history with the movie, explore the history of the making of them movie and just how much and in what ways this movie has influenced the genre of superhero movies.
We also discuss the interpretation of Superman we see in this movie, and why it works, and the genius of Christopher Reeve in playing essentially two roles, Clark and Superman.
Finally, we discuss the themes and the character arcs we see in the movie and one surprising and powerful area this stands apart from all other movies in the genre.
In our second full episode Emma curates a conversation on Star Wars : A New Hope (or Star Wars to Kev).
This again was such a fun episode as we share our favourite scenes, funniest and most moving moments, and the wider themes and character arcs in this iconic movie.
We also talk a little of the story of how the movie got made and the background to Star Wars, and do our first ever "Recast" section, where we each recast the three lead characters in the movie, if it were being made now, in 2022.
In our first full episode, James, Emma and Kevin have a conversation about the recent MCU offering Spiderman: No Way Home.
Together we take a dive into the story arcs of the lead characters, especially Peter Parker.
We also discuss our favourite moments from the movie (there were a few!), the bigger themes we see through the story, what we loved / didn't love about it and where we place this movie in the growing pantheon of Spiderman movies.
