But our dreams are the desires of our heart and ignoring them is like the opposite of self care---it's self neglect.

Let's talk about why people don't live their dreams and how they can take simple steps to start living them now.

What if you could stop judging yourself and shaming yourself about your money? What would your world look like if you felt less judged by others or spent less time judging others?

As a money coach, I work with people every day on the front lines of their financial lives. I start every new client relationship with the conversation we are going to have on today's episode - what is your money personality?

Just like we all have unique skills sets and abilities, we are all have unique preferences for how we behave with our money. Some of us like to take risk - big risk! Some of us, would rather save save save save save! And, there is nothing wrong with either - but you wouldn't know that if you are listening to main stream financial conversations.

WHO you are with money impacts the decisions you make daily. WHY you make those choices can be traced back to your family history, your beliefs (and limiting beliefs) about money, and how you learned to behave with money.

Learning your money type is an enlightening opportunity to understand that you can be who you were born to be, manage your money in a way that makes sense for you - AND - have financial results that motivate and inspire you.

Let's break out of the box today. Join me as I talk about the 5 Money Personalities by Robyn Crane.

Don't know how money works?

You're in the right place!! Most people don't really know how money works and they spend their entire lives paying bills, getting into debt and getting out of debt (or never really getting out of debt) and if they're lucky they'll have something to show for themselves by way of a 401K and maybe a savings account.

Money is so much more than paying bills. My call to action for women on this planet is to learn how money works so that we shift the context of money for women globally - forever.

Jamee's first career was as an engineer - making the leap into finance has been anything but simple and learning how money works can be just as complicated as calculus (or so it seems for so many women).

Hear Jamee's story about how she had to first herself learn how money works before she could help others.

I don't teach budgets. Not in the outdated over analytical sense anyway.

Most women don't succeed financially by simply implementing a budget. We need systems to make financial decision making easy, and in order to thrive, we need honest communication, trustworthy friends (and information!), community, and a safe place to fall apart and put ourselves back together.

Today's conversation is about why budgets (and relationships) fail, and how you can get on your path to fixing financial breakdowns of your own.

Gail Swift is my best friend, she's been married for over 20 years, has two incredible teenage boys, and she and I have real talk about money all the time. In this episode, Gail will share her story about how she and her husband worked through financial secrets and a household budget that bled more than $50,000 before she even knew about it.

Professionally, Gail is on a mission to help young people learn how to thrive using their unique brain wired strength. Who you are and how you're wired have everything to do with your ability to succeed with money, and in life! We are going to talk about that in this episode too. I hope you'll join us!

Awakening. This is how I would describe mid life for so many women. One day you wake up and realize...your job is not what you want to spend the second half of your life doing. It's almost as if a fog has been lifted and you wake up one day and say, I'm f*@cking over this. We work, raise kids, and there comes a moment where so many of us feel like we've hit a brick wall. Jeanne Rooney is on a mission to support women through career burnout. She found herself at a cross roads in her career and life and is now working with career women to create purpose, connection and get back in touch with themselves after trudging through raising kids and building careers.

Jeanne's story is relatable. Living in the mid-west, raising three beautiful boys, her husband was a school principal, and over the course of the pandemic everything changed. Jeanne left her job and started a business, at the same time her husband reassessed his desire and ability to stay in an impossible job, and they were sending their oldest to college. In the middle of their lives they had to figure out how to start all over again.

This episode is for every women who is at a cross roads in her career and life. So often, money is the only reason you're staying where you at, and that doesn't have to be the case. Join me and Jeanne today - we'll share some ways to take the leap and still keep your sanity and feel financially stable even if you have to make a big shift in your life.

No one is going to make your life happen for you. No one is going to turn your financial life around but you. No one is going to start your business, raise your kids, or make an impact that's burning in your soul but you.

This episode is about financial renewal.

The media does a great job at telling stories about 30 year old retirees and millionaires. It's easy to believe that as soon as you're behind financially, you're behind forever. In my world, we have a saying, the past is the past. You can't change your past. And, no matter how old you are, you can always turn your financial life around. ALWAYS.

In this episode, I introduce to you, Denna. She's a 69 year old powerhouse, and she's rediscovering what it means to be financially free. In her 60's Denna turned her financial life around. From a 6 figure job (with nothing to show for herself but student loan debt) to facing her reality of debt and a world of work that was less than fulfilling, Denna has made Money Moves that have improved her quality of life and she is living a life that is both fulfilling and financially rewarding.

It's easy to lose perspective financially. If you're following mainstream financial media, it's easy to believe that you can't fix what you've broken or that you're too late. In this episode we hope you hear from Denna's story that you can turn your life around, no matter what you're going through and no matter what your age is, there is a new future for you.

Learning how to manage our money is a necessary tool to run a successful business - without mentors and role models it's extremely difficult (if not impossible) to get the results we want in our lives, and businesses.

Women earn roughly 10% of the world's wealth. As women reach toward greater success personally and financially, we must first build solid financial foundations. Today's show is about what it really takes to turn a dream into a successful business.

This show is especially for the woman out there who lacks strong female role models. We're going to talk building solid foundations from shakey beginnings.

None of us were born knowing anything about money. We learn about money from our immediate surroundings. Our family, past, and our families' pasts are our greatest teachers. When we are raised knowing nothing about money, and not being in families that are wealthy, we can unknowingly limit ourselves, our choices and our dreams because we just don't know anything different. We can feel destined to be broke our entire lives.

Kelli and Ashly began their relationship while traveling the United States opening restaurants ten years ago. Growing together in life and business they were married in 2016.

When we met, they were fed up with living paycheck to paycheck. They were exhausted from running the never ending pattern and cycle of working their butts off for very little return in the restaurant industry. In different ways, but together, they wanted to bust through their limiting conversations about money. They wanted to save. They wanted to be out of debt. And like so many women, they didn't know how to do it on their own.

Today's episode is about dreams. It's about love, and it's about this one couple's journey from burned out, stressed out and maxed out to living a life that finally feels like they are on track. Kelli and Ashly are not just on track financially, they are on the same page about the direction of their life.

Join us in this episode of Real Money - you're going to love Kelli and Ashly - and you'll be inspired by their journey to level up their lives.

When I was about 8 years old, I went skiing with my best friend and her mom. We got to the top of the hill and I took off without realizing how fast I would actually be going. I shot down that mountain gripped with fear and ended at the bottom in a full splits with tears in my eyes.

That's how I felt during my financial free fall. Nothing to do but hold on until I crashed.

Things turned around when I had the courage to be honest with myself so that I could dig myself out and into a new life.

Today's show is about courage. It's about being willing to be honest with yourself.

Join me on the journey.

Money creates the illusion of security leaving so many people in the chase and hustle for more. Our 20’s are chaotic and crazy - and finding ourselves is a common theme. What do you do when you’re also left to figure out the world of money, career, and #adulting on your own in the absence of healthy financial role models.

Ashley is 32 years old. Her father died when she was 6 years old. Left to her mom, who was a bartender that worked long nights in Las Vegas, Ashley spent her teenage years through the great recession bouncing from home to home. In the absence of her father and her mother’s long hours, she was left to her own devices to figure out how to make a living and life for herself. Ashley struggled in her 20’s to discover herself and the person she really wanted to be in the world. Financially, she was gripped by fear of losing money, scarcity and the reality that she was all on her own. In today’s episode we will talk about Ashley’s fight for independence and her at times paralyzing fear of losing everything.

The need and want for financial stability is something so many women desire, and Ashley’s story is a reminder that although adulting can be hard, there are ways to find joy and freedom through our struggles.

Real Money.

Honest Stories.

I'll go first.

I'm Lisa Chastain, the host, creator and your guide on the Real Money show. I'm kicking this show off with just me. The real me.

Spend some time with me today to hear my story, my failures and what I've learned over the last decade about money - the honest, dark, crazy, passionate, controlling, exhilarating, scary, disproportionate, feminine, vulnerable, logical and complex world of money.

Life with money is complex. Life with money is emotional, and intertwined, compacted with decisions you make daily.

I'm on a mission to have the real behind the scenes, best friends, in the bedroom, after the board room, 2 a.m. in the morning conversations about money.

In this episode, you'll get to know me, and hear my story so that I can lead the way to inspire you to be real with your money.
