Hey! Crystal, Hannah, Jackie, and Quortney here. We’re so glad that you stopped by. It is each of our desires to share our portion from what God has given us from His inspired, inerrant, and infallible Word.We each love to dig deep and study God’s Word, as it is written. And we want you to walk away knowing that no matter where you are in life, you CAN dig deeper into His Word as well! God’s Word should be our ultimate authority, the lamp that guides our steps, the light that directs our paths, and the seed from which the fruit grows. He is our portion, and we’re sharing Him with you! Our prayer is that by the help of the Holy Spirit you will come to realize that He is your portion in this life and He is all you need. So, grab your Bible and a pen and come pull up a seat at the table because you are welcome here. Let’s glean from His Word together.
Today we close the final chapter of the Her Portion podcast. After much prayer, we believe the Lord has finished the work He called us to do in this season. In this episode, each host shares her farewell and how you can continue to connect with her through social media.
Our episodes will remain up, and we pray they continue to be a source of truth, hope, and strength in your walk with Christ.
Happy Thanksgiving (each chapter of Colossians mentions giving thanks)!
Our testimony--the way we walk and talk--matters and we should consider that in all our interactions with others. We must recognize that the way we behave and speak is all a reflection on the LORD Jesus Christ. We are either actively drawing others to Christ or becoming an excuse for why they would push Him away.
Join Crystal as she explains how we can walk and speak in wisdom, drawing others to Christ along the way.
Colossians 4:2-6 KJV
2 Continue in prayer, and watch in the same with thanksgiving;
3 Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:
4 That I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak.
5 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.
6 Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

Legalism has plagued churches of today having people stooped in religion over understanding the context of the gospel and what faith in Christ and a relationship with Him means.
Paul explains this over and over again to the church, but it can be hard to see or understand when you feel as if the whole Bible is written to you. The whole Bible is written for us, but not to us.
Many of our churches today will say they do not believe you can earn salvation by works, but they do teach you can earn acceptance, blessings, and fellowship with God by all the things you do or don’t do.
Listen to this episode as Jackie goes verse by verse in Colossians 2, as Paul warns the church multiple times over this false teaching and even asks them why they are separating themselves over these things.

The lie that is tackled today is "It All Depends On Me!" Our failures often arise because we believe the lie that everything won't get done unless WE do it. As a helpmeet we know it's our responsibility to be a helper, but God desires to be a help to the helper. We just need to let God do His job in our life.

As a young person, I really struggled with insecurities. I second guessed myself for everything. I wish I could go back and tell my younger self how much value that God saw in me instead of looking for validation from everyone else or in all the ways I could push myself to be better in order to prove my worth.
There were many lies I believed even of God and His Word that were also not true.
I hope this lesson encourages you to dig deeper into who God says you are and your worth in Him. There are passages I meditate on constantly! Ephesians 1, Psalm 139, and Romans 8 are chapters I listen to often that help me have the right mind set.

Join Crystal as she wraps up our topic of anxiety. She highlights the difference between worry and anxiety, and she acknowledges that Christians are sometimes guilty of only looking at the spiritual side of it when there are other contributing factors. Then she tackles the hard work of getting our minds "unstuck" when we have allowed worrisome thoughts to make "ruts" in our brains. It won't be easy, but God has already given us the victory and His peace that passes all understanding!
Prayer + Right Thinking = Peace

Anxiety wastes our time, steals our peace, and if we’re honest, puts us in rebellion against God’s clear command to “be careful for nothing” (Philippians 4:6). In this episode, Quortney digs into the irrational nature of worry, what Scripture says about it, and how choosing trust over fear is the only logical and biblical response. She even shares her own real life story of overcoming a long held fear of flying and how God’s sovereignty gave her perfect peace.
If you’ve ever battled anxious thoughts or excused worry as “just how I am,” this episode will challenge you, convict you, and point you back to the God who promises peace that passes all understanding.

✨ In today’s podcast, Charity walks you through three biblical steps to overcome anxiety and discover the peace that only God can give.
3 Biblical Steps for Overcoming Anxiety
Seek Godly Counsel – Turn first to God in prayer and His Word. Surround yourself with godly mentors and wise counsel who point you back to truth. (Proverbs 11:14, Psalm 119:165)
Heed Godly Counsel – Take the next right step in obedience, even when it feels small. Peace comes after faithful action. (Genesis 6:22)
Replace Worry with God’s Word – Trade fearful thoughts for God’s promises. Memorize, pray, and trust His Word daily. (Genesis 9:13–17, Colossians 3:15)
Verses to Memorize: One for Each Day of the Week
Romans 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.
I Peter 5:7Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
Psalm 4:8 I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.
Psalms 34:14 Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.
Romans 5:1 Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
John 16:33 These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
Proverbs 3:5-6 5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

What a way to end the book of Philippians!
Paul wrote Philippians from PRISON, and yet he talks more about joy and peace than anything else.

it’s found in the God who rules them.

Paul had it all together when it came to “godliness.” He talks about knowing the law inside and out, and he was blameless; he had the best reputation in a religious sense.
Yet, in context Paul tells us he puts all of that behind him for the mission that God had before him- to reach us messy Gentiles with the true message of the cross, the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Jesus is enough.
Listen to this episode as Jackie talks about building your relationship on Christ. If your foundation has been about the flesh, people pleasing, all the religious rituals and standards, instead of understanding that your righteousness is in Christ, ask Him to gently show you. It can be a painful process removing stones in your foundation that you thought were godly, but instead were about show.

Join Crystal as she finishes up our study in Ephesians with a closer look at the Armour of God.
Anyone who is trying to live a Spirit-filled--that is, a Spirit-controlled--life, is in the midst of a very real spiritual battle. This battle isn’t just with our own flesh, but it is also with Satan and his demons.
I Peter 5:8 says, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:”
We have to understand that Satan desires to destroy us. His ultimate goal is to rob God of the glory He deserves. Satan knows that if he is successful in destroying the lives of Christians, he will keep God from getting glory. The destruction left behind by a Christian who Satan has defeated, even temporarily, can have lasting consequences that affect the lives of their families, friends, and churches.
So we must "armour up!" Choose each and every day to put on the Armour of God and take your place in the spiritual battle.

Our purpose in studying church hurt should be to protect ourselves from being either the “offender” or the “offendee."
First, we must understand the importance of being involved in a local, Bible believing church. It truly is God’s design for New Testament believers which we can find all throughout Scripture. God’s design for a church is unity in doctrine, service, and purpose. At the same time, God has created each of us to be different with unique personalities, talents, and tastes. It is only through the love of God that so many different people can come together in a church unified for the purpose of sharing the Gospel and edifying one another.
However, any time people are brought together there is potential for problems…
Yes, the church should be different. We should be different.
Different...not perfect.
So how can we be careful not to hurt or offend others? How can we be sure that when we are the ones hurt, or offended, that we respond according to the Bible?
Listen as Crystal shares some thoughts on this difficult topic.

Sheeeesh… is there even a more controversial conversation of the church today?! So so so much hurt wrapped up in that one word, “standards.”
I’d guarantee more people have left the church over the topic of standards than doctrine or any other conversation.
How many people have not heard the Gospel because we have elevated our standards above the message of the cross? I’m guilty.
How many people have been made to think that the key to being close to God is through all the high standards we hold dear? (Galatians 2:16, 21)
God has completely crumbled all the things I built to find HIM and only Him, and for that I’m thankful. ❤️
The book of Galatians in its’ entirety is addressing the conversation of standards. We would be wise as the church, to read what Scripture says in context about this topic so that we can with one mind and one voice lift up the message of the cross.

There are many families, Christian families included, who are suffering and struggling with the sin of pornography.

When we hear the word addiction, we often think of alcohol and drugs. Maybe smoking or pornography. We might also think of being addicted to technology–spending hours scrolling our phones on social media, watching YouTube videos, or playing games. Or maybe we think of food–sugar or coffee addiction, anyone?
Truthfully, we are probably all dealing with some sort of addiction. It may seem minor and inconsequential, but when the LORD convicts us about it, we must start the hard work of breaking free from that “thing” that has too much importance, too much control, or is consuming too much of our time.
Breaking free for a Christian starts with recognizing that we have already been set free!

What does it take to make a change in your life?
Whether you are striving to make a change for your physical health, spiritual health, or even just in your daily routines, there are three things that will help you get there.
First, you must determine that you will make the change. Put an end to the "maybe I will, maybe I won't" attitude. Determine.
Then, 'do the change' with diligence. Remember everything we do is for the LORD (Ecclesiastes 9:10; Colossians 3:17, 23).
And finally, 'do the change' with discipline. Set yourself up for success by making 'the change' easier.

“What we think about God and our relationship to Him determines what we think about everything else that makes up our busy world. Other people. The universe. Gods Word. Gods will, sin, faith, and obedience. Wrong idea about God will ultimately lead to wrong ideas about who we are and what we should do, and this leads to a wrong life on the wrong path toward the wrong destiny. In other words, theology, the right knowledge of God, is essential to a fulfilled life in this world.”

Health, according to Medical News Today, is a state of physical, mental and social well-being, not just the absence of disease or infirmity. Good health helps people live a full life.
As Christians, we could add spiritual well-being to that definition and we recognize that Jesus came so that we could have eternal life and desires that we have abundant life (John 10:10).
God cares about our health and wellness down to the smallest detail. He created us and made us in His own image. Our bodies are truly miraculous–the way they function and their ability to heal. God created us and calls us wonderful!
He wants us to care for our bodies–His temple–the best we can. If we know there are some areas that need improvement, we can take them to the LORD in prayer and seek His guidance in the changes He would have us make. Remember we aren’t striving for perfection in this area, but progress. Small changes–a little at a time–can make a big impact in our health.

In today's episode, Crystal shares a little bit of her heart on marriage. She shares a little bit of that with you today. Be sure to stick around to the end for some of her most practical advice and tips for a successful marriage.
From this episode:
Marriage was designed by God to become a picture of Christ and the church, the two sexes compliment one another and when in right relationship show forth God’s love.
That is why Satan hates it so much. He desires to destroy marriages to destroy the picture. And let’s face it, the institution of marriage is under attack. Many couples are choosing not to get married, afraid to make that commitment or feeling it is “unnecessary.”

In dealing with suffering, you can begin to think life is just not worth the trouble. Some of the best Christians in the Bible made this statement, “…we were pressed out of measure, above strength, insomuch that we despaired even of life:” (2 Cor. 1:8) They were tired of the Spiritual battle.
But they shared their suffering with some people they trusted. “…We would not, brethren, have you ignorant of our trouble…” (2 Cor. 1:8)
I’ve had to learn to be content even in seasons of suffering. We can still be bold in the place where God has us. “He is enough.” That one phrase has kept me holding on when I didn’t think I could any longer.
When I was at my breaking point, He was enough, and He will be for you too.

Philippians 3:13-14 tells us, “Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”From this verse we can gather that we need to forget some things in our past, whether it be victory or defeat, so that we can triumph TODAY.

As women, we have so much power and influence when it comes to our home. Come listen as Quortney J gives us some advice on how to set the tone in our homes.
Join Hannah in this episode as she wraps up the topic this month of walking worthy.
It’s amazing that God not only gives us commands but also, tells us how to follow through with them.
In Ephesians 4 Paul says to walk worthy in the vocation wherewith ye are called. He then goes on in the rest of the chapter describing what that worthy walk is.
Have you ever considered how our walk affects the unity we have amongst other believers, in our relationships? In our churches? Paul talks about that too!
We walk worthy not because we earn it or wear it as a badge. We walk worthy of a high calling from God because of what He has done for us and in us.
He is so good, isn’t He?

I think with this topic, it’s so easy to get the cart before the horse, so to say.
When I think of the topic “walking worthy,” my mind instantly thinks of my outward testimony.
God’s holy. Am I being holy enough?
Does my life measure up to my pastor’s wife or my girl friend that always seems to know the perfect thing to say, carries herself like a sweet and quiet Christian lady, and seems to have it together in every area.
I don’t know about you, but I’ve struggled with this. I’ve thought that God won’t hear my prayers because of A,B, or C
God abolished the enmity and anything that would hinder our relationship with Him (through the cross).
Because of His blood we have access.
If you feel unworthy, let me challenge you to listen to this episode. Be rooted and grounded in the truth, not your feelings.
You are not behind anyone.
You can be as close to Jesus as you want to be❤️

Our walk is our daily conduct, our behavior, our testimony before others.
God cares about our walk--it's mentioned 413 times in Scripture!
Colossians 1:9-12
9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
10 That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:

Gentle Parenting could be considered a worldly philosophy, but today from Scripture we should take a Biblical approach.
Proverbs 4:3 says, “For I was my father’s son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.”As a mother, gentle parenting may seem impossible when you are tired and frustrated and feel as if you work 24/7.
Although, in this podcast Jackie is sharing loads of Scripture we can use in our approach to gentle parenting.

In the very beginning, God gave us an example of rest. He would later add to that example, declaring it the Sabbath Day. He instructed the nation of Israel to keep it holy, rest from work, and remember Who He was and all He had done for them. It was to be a sign, a perpetual covenant, between God and His people.
In the Old Testament, the Israelites were required to keep the law. They continually gave offerings and sacrifices to make themselves acceptable to God. These had to be repeated over and over again. But the Messiah, Jesus Christ, would come and provide permanent rest!

Being content in hard times definitely takes patience and practicing thankfulness. Although, when you are going through a hurt, it’s human nature to nurture those wounds and pull away.
But when we embrace the hard, we are exclaiming with our lives, “God, I trust you in this. Even this.”

In this episode, Hannah shares what the passage of Scripture refers to in 1 Timothy 2:9 in regard to sobriety, and why the women were even admonished to be sober in the first place.
Sobriety refers to having a sound mind, or self-control. One of the biggest struggles we all deal with or have dealt with is the battle between our minds, and our thoughts.
Satan has a large stronghold on many and it is kept deep in their mind. Feelings such as, "I'll never be good enough, I'm too this or that, no one actually cares about me, I don't have any friends," and the stronghold of depression, fear, and anxiety.

Being sober is listed in Titus 2 before loving your husband and children, and I don’t believe it was on accident. Being sober is living in control of your emotions and passions, not having them rule over you.
Paul charged Timothy to ordain elders or leaders in every city. I believe that in order for him to find the men he was looking for, he had to have women who were living according to the principles found in Titus 2
God has called all men to lead their home and will be held responsible for them. So, I believe Titus 2 is beneficial for every Christian wife.

The Titus 2 Woman.
When we hear that title, our minds may immediately go to the aged women teaching the younger women or even perhaps the list of things the aged women are supposed to teach the younger woman. Truly, the chapter is filled with qualities that should characterize all Christian women striving to live for the Lord. We may be an aged woman. Or we may be a younger woman. I fell in love with this phrase while reading Nehemiah. His grief over the condition of his city inspired him to action.
Before Nehemiah rose up to rebuild the ruins, you find him being still.

Join Crystal as she kicks off this month's theme, Rise Up, by discussing Elijah's battle with discouragement. Elijah had witnessed God's Provision and God's Power (I Kings 17-18), and still he was afraid when Jezebel threatened his life. He ran away, isolating himself from everyone else (I Kings 19). Warren Wiersbe said, "Solitude only feeds discouragement and helps grow into self-pity, which is even worse." That's exactly what happened to Elijah. In his solitude, he wanted to die, believing there was no one else serving the LORD and that he was all alone. However, God met him there and he was able to experience God's Presence.
I Kings 19:7 says, "And the angel of the Lord...said, Arise and eat; because the journey is too great for thee."
"Arise and eat." This was only the beginning of the Lord's instruction on how to overcome discouragement.
"The journey is too great for thee." Elijah would need the LORD's help to battle discouragement...and so do we.
Listen in to hear how the LORD helped Elijah. He wants to do the same for us.

Did you know that there are many addictions out there that don’t involve any drugs or alcohol at all?
Many people struggle with addictions that aren’t really talked about so much.
Join Hannah in this episode as she mentions a few of those addictions but really addresses finding freedom from ANY addiction through God’s Word.
Did you enjoy this episode? Let’s us know, we love to hear from you.
"Freedom isn't Free" is a popular phrase we often hear which causes us to think about the sacrifices our military men and women, along with their families, have made and continue to make to ensure the freedom we enjoy. As we consider the costs of our freedom, it should cause us to be thankful.
Join Crystal in this episode as she takes some time to consider the phrase "Freedom isn't Free" when talking about our freedom in Christ. We are freed from sin, obligation to our flesh, and condemnation. However, we are also free to serve! Considering the sacrifice our Lord and Savior made on our behalf should cause us to be thankful and willing to walk in the freedom He has given us.
"Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin."
Romans 6:6-7
"But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. Being then made free from sin, ye became servants of righteousness."

This episode discusses the freedom we already have in Christ. Many times, as we grow in our walk with the Lord we begin to think we have victory because of the things we do and don’t do. In contrast the Bible teaches two Biblical principles that help us know and understand that sweet victory we want to feel.
Jackie discusses the freedom in Christ through the truth of God’s Word in Colossians 2:6-7.
“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.”
V. 10 “And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.”
People sometimes get confused when we talk about Christian liberty. Christians use it as an excuse to live however they want and the lost are confused by it. Join Quortney as she uses 1 Corinthians to show you exactly what the Bible teaches about our freedom in Christ.
1 Corinthians 6:12 KJV
All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

Prayer + Right Thinking = PEACE
Philippians 4:6-9 KJV
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

This month the ladies of Her Portion will be sharing all about social media. They will be talking about the blessings and benefits of using social media, as well as, being careful to ensure even our social media use is pleasing to the Lord.
Colossians 3:17 says, "And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him."
In this episode, Crystal tackles some social media traps from two different perspectives: the consumer and the creator. A trap is considered any device by which men may be caught unaware. If we aren't careful, we can become caught in "social media traps" that will allow sin to creep into our hearts and minds. Take a few minutes to consider these common traps, and if the Lord leads, take steps to guard against them.

In this episode, we continue the theme of "Putting on the New Man." It is something that we must choose to do over and over--each and every day. Studying for this episode reminded me of this quote from the Bible study:
**“We are no longer bound to it {sin}. We now have the power to choose. We can choose to walk as the old man and continue in sin. Or we can choose to walk as the new man led by the Holy Spirit.”
Pullin' Weeds, Plantin' Seeds (pg. 73)**The choice sounds simple enough, but it isn't easy. We will battle with our own flesh as Paul describes in Romans 7. And it might feel a little restrictive and uncomfortable at times, but it is for our good. May we ever choose to put on the new man and walk with the LORD!

Many times we can read the passage Ephesians 4:22-24, and be so consumed with trying to put off the old man we totally miss in context what Scriptures is teaching about putting in the new man.
It’s not putting off the old man that makes us holy. Ephesians 4:24 says, “And that ye put on the new man which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.” The new man is what God created righteous and holy. There’s nothing about flesh that’s holy or good.
So, how do we put on the new man? It’s a simple, short episode, but what the entire New Testament is teaching us. We must have the mind of Christ. This is how we walk in the Spirit. This is how we are renewed. This is how we don’t fulfill the lusts of the flesh.
Putting off the old man then becomes a natural process.

It is easy to love people we like–and people who like us! People who we understand. People we have things in common with. People we enjoy being around.
It’s much more difficult to love those who seem unkind. Someone who has hurt us in the past or continues to do and say hurtful things. Someone who is so different that we have difficulty relating to them or understanding them. Someone who has different views than we do.
In Matthew 5:43-48, Jesus gives us some instruction on how to love our "enemies" and none of them come naturally or easily. Let's see what the Bible has to say about "loving our enemies" or those that are more difficult to love.

I’m so excited to kick off our theme for January which is really just each of us taking an episode and sharing the word that we have chosen to focus on in the year 2022.
For me, these words or phrases are areas the LORD shows me need some improvement. I’ve had quite a few over the years…Embrace the Day. Discipline. Rest. Be humble. Invest. Wait.
This year has been no different. The last few months, I’ve noticed a noisiness in my mind. An unsettling in my spirit…becoming easily frustrated or agitated—mostly with things at work. As I’ve prayed about this and searched the Scriptures, one word has continually come to mind: QUIET.
Spend a few minutes listening to this episode to see how the LORD is prompting me to have a quiet heart, quiet mind, and quiet mouth in 2022.

In this episode, Hannah shares with us a testimony of how she learned what was truly important on the holidays at a young age.
She shares about finding contentment then with the little she had growing up and how it has followed her into her adult years.

Give Thanks.
It's a phrase we hear a lot during this season, but I'm thinking about it a little bit differently this year. As I was reading through the Psalms recently, I realized that we are often told to give thanks for WHO God is and not WHAT He is doing. If we are focused on WHO God is and trusting Him to care for every detail of our lives, we will be able to give thanks and praise Him regardless of the circumstances we face. Too often my thankfulness is all about the blessings I have received in comparison to just being thankful for my God. I'm taking a different kind of thankfulness challenge this year that will direct my thanks and praise to God for WHO He is, and I hope you will join me!

Webster defines fear as a painful emotion or passion excited by an expectation of evil, or the apprehension of impending danger. Fear is accompanied with a desire to avoid or ward off the expected evil. Fear is an uneasiness of mind, upon the thought of future evil likely to befall us.
Some fears can be crippling. Some fears can seem silly. But, most importantly, some fears can keep us from the will of God. Some fears can be a stronghold. Some fears can be a sin.

God’s Word should be everything to us. God refers to Himself and the Word as the Bread of Life. He wants us to desire Him as necessary as our daily food. Just as He gave His people manna each morning to go retrieve, God wants us to come to Him daily and learn more about Him and the truth He has for us each day to guide our paths.
We are supposed to be studying it and meditating on it daily, as well as being submissive to it so that we can be properly equipped as we combat Spiritual warfare daily.

In the second half of this episode, Hannah shows us some instances in Scripture where God told us factual things that took mankind years to discover.
In the first half of this episode, she goes over Isaiah 55:11 where God says His Word will not return unto Him void. It will always do what He sent it out to do and it will ALWAYS prosper. That lightens the load a lot when you think about our responsibility to share His Word. It's not up to you and me to make the difference. God's Word will speak for itself! It's that powerful.

God remembers that we are dust. He knows we won't always have amazing, unshakeable faith. It's what we do about that that matters to Him most.

Hey there! This month we will be talking all about prayer on the Her Portion podcast. In this episode, I'm going to share with you some of the questions I've had about prayer (and still do from time to time). Thankfully, the Bible has the answers for my questions--and yours too. Let's see what we can learn about prayer together!

Romans 16 gives a detailed list of people that the apostle saluted, commended, and were beloved to him. They were people he was close to. There are so many character traits about these people that I believe will help our friendships and relationships as we work to apply them.

At a time when I felt very lonely, the Lord revealed to me that what I was really longing for was a closer walk with Him. He showed me that I already had "a friend that sticketh closer than a brother" (Proverbs 18:24). Let's take a look at Psalm 86 to see how the Lord fulfills the qualities of a good friend and how we can learn to be that kind of friend to others.

Join Hannah in this first episode of the month as she shares what God has taught her about combatting loneliness. We all either have or will face loneliness in our lives at one point or another.
How we handle that loneliness can make us better or bring us low.
In this episode Hannah goes over Proverbs 18:24 KJV
"A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly, and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother."
We pray this can be an encouragement to you if you are facing loneliness in this season of life!

Proverbs 25:11 says, “A word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in pictures of silver.”
We are taught from Colossians 3:8 that we are to put off filthy communication- the unkind ways we respond to others.
Let’s learn more as Jackie talks about wisdom when it comes to our dealing with others.
Have you ever been faced with a situation where you just didn't know what to say or how to even begin to help?
The truth is, any good advice or counsel that we give to others needs to come from God. It is Him and His Word that is the help and not us.
Join Hannah as she shares from James 1:5 some helpful and practical responses when dealing with others when you just don't know what to say!
When wisdom entereth into thine heart, and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul; Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:"
Proverbs 2:10-11
Discretion, or discernment, which results from wisdom preserves--protects, guards, and keeps--us. It delivers us from the evil influences around us. It allows us to recognize those things that threaten to turn our hearts from the Lord and destroy our fellowship with Him. We must exercise wisdom by taking everything in our lives through the filter of God's Word. Put it to the test!

This verse always comes to my mind when I think of a wise woman.
Proverbs 14:1
“A wise woman buildeth her house, but the foolish plucketh it down with her hands.”
Join Quortney as she gives us a list from Proverbs that we can use to check ourselves to see if we are building up or tearing down our home.
The wise woman builds her house upon a rock and the foolish builds hers on the sand.
The wise woman knows her place in the home and strives to fulfill it. The foolish woman knows her place and yet, does her own thing.
The wise woman seeks and hears good counsel. The foolish woman thinks she knows it all and is always right.
The wise woman walks with the wise. The foolish woman is a companion of fools.
The wise woman is slow to anger and has self control. The foolish woman is hasty and can be known to use the word “venting” as an excuse
A wise woman fears and departs from evil. The foolish woman is wreck-less and careless in the presence of evil.
The wise woman will cease from strife. The foolish woman will meddle in it.
The wise woman knows how to use her tongue for knowledge. The mouth of the foolish woman just pours out foolishness.
The wise woman studies her steps. The foolish woman believes everything she hears.

I think many times Christians feel like wisdom can be unattainable or for the elite. I know there have been times when I was first married or first in ministry or when i first had babies and would think, “If I just knew the answer.”
I Corinthians 1:30 says,“But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:” If we have Christ Jesus living inside of us, we already have His wisdom. It’s a treasure that He’s given us.
Tune in for a short Bible study with Jackie to learn more about the wisdom we have in Christ Jesus.

“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom and with all the getting get understanding.”
Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is the right use or exercise of knowledge—the knowledge of God’s Word. If we are going to “get wisdom” as Proverbs 4:7 commands, we need to actively seek it by reading and studying God’s Word. Join me today as we take a closer look at wisdom and our part in "getting" it as found in Proverbs 2.

When you find yourself praying for good things, but become impatient in the waiting, may this life lesson be the encouragement you need to strengthen your journey. Jackie gives a personal story of an earthly inheritance in this life. But if we never receive a physical inheritance on this earth, the Bible tells us, “For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.” (2 Cor. 4:17)
