Unlike traditional forms of therapy that take time to analyze problems, pathology, and past life events, solution focused approach concentrates on finding solutions in the present and exploring one’s hope for the future in order to find a quick and pragmatic resolution of one’s problems. This method takes the approach that you know what you need to do to improve your own life and, with the appropriate coaching and questioning, are capable of finding the best solutions. - Excerpt from Psychology Today

Too often, people feel intimidated by experts and shy away from asking for mentorship. Mentorship is not a burden for mentors. Quite the contrary, it is a deep, meaningful experience for the mentor. The value of mentorship goes well beyond the benefits to the mentee. While the voices of mentors are not often heard, their legacies live on in every mentee's life through their legacy tree. ~ excerpt from article written by (Deborah Heiser Ph.D.)

Even with the COVID 19 pandemic behind us, a new normal has created a greater need to prioritize self-care. Self-care is inclusive of nutrition, stress reduction, and exercise to help keep a person happy, healthy, and resilient. If you have ever #loss someone close to you…you realize that there is no definitive “RIGHT” way to go through the experience. Today’s topic is all about #death, loss, and #pain. The goal is to begin a #conversation that will lead to preparation of what is inevitable in this thing we call life. We would #love for you to stay (and hopefully) learn something from this heavy topic but please be #mindful of your ability to absorb what we are presenting in this moment. If you need to... feel free to step away and return when you are ready. Or go listen to another one of our episodes. If you are able to stay, let create #space and talk about #grief.

Believe it or not, people felt a greater sense of #wellbeing, and a more profound sense of #meaning in life the day after having sex. Surprisingly, it appears that having sex generally does provide a real #boost to #mood, #outlook, and well-being…sooooo…for a #profound sense of meaning in #life, Have Sex.

At times being your true #self can come at a cost. There is an #expectation (an impossible expectation), of needing to be white while inhabiting a Black body and embracing your black culture. Are we really supportive in #corporations and #organizations of #diversity, #inclusion, and #equity? The connection between poor mental health and social media apps is scary. In spring of 2021, the Reboot Foundation surveyed more than 1,000 Americans on their social media usage and its impact on their mental health. More than half of the people who took part in the survey acknowledged that their social media use intensified their feelings of anxiety, depression, or loneliness. They also knew that it contributed to feelings of low self-esteem and made it harder for them to concentrate. Yet, we don’t have more doctors, schools, and community groups speaking out against it. In this episode we speak on it…

Depression and #anxiety can be significantly influenced by our self-critical voice and subsequent behaviors. Yes, there was a Jim Crow era. Yes, there was slavery. But, contrary to unpopular opinion, we have progressed, and we have excelled as a people. Today we will discuss if old ideology is creating cognitive dissonance and a lack of real effort to continue to progress. #mentalhealthawareness

Episode summary introduction: As Black women, we are often seen as matriarchs and leaders of our families and communities. Whether it is in the role of girlfriend, wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend, employee, co-worker, caretaker, or business owner, we give out a lot. And it seems we are expected to proudly serve in these roles since we are often referred to as “the strong black woman.” However, it can become exhausting to constantly be on point at all times and we may neglect our psychological needs. One way to prevent this is to explore our needs and ask yourself: What do I need from me? From others? Or in general… Let’s talk about it #mentalhealth #awareness #supportwomen
