Meet Todd Davies, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science in 2016. During his study he did internships at Google and Morgan Stanley before returning to Google as a graduate software engineer where he became interested in competition law. He enrolled on a Masters degree in Policy and Technology at the Technical University of Munich before starting a PhD in competition law at University College London. Meet Rosie Hasall she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science in 2025. During her study, she did summer internships at the Bank of New York BNY.com in Manchester and London. She also co-ordinated Peer-Assisted Study Sessions (PASS) sessions. We discussed switching from Physics, gesture recognition, taking modules from outside Computer Science, British Sign Language (BSL), her experience of being a woman in computing and the challenges of being a wheelchair user. We also discussed the importance of asking for help and talking to people: from your fellow students, to colleagues and academics, alongside recruiters like Sara Raza. Meet Muna Hassan she graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science with Mathematics and Industrial Experience in 2025. During her study, she did a year long placement at Couchbase couchbase.com in Manchester. She also participated in numerous hackathons including building a fusion reactor in Minecraft with MancheSTAR: a student-led society focusing on Nuclear Fusion and its development. Meet Stefania Chaplin, she graduated with Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science with Business & Management in 2013 and currently works at gitlab.com and devstefops.com.
Meet Cristian Bodnar, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science in 2018 after doing summer internships at Improbably and Amazon Web Services. He went on to do a PhD at the University of Cambridge after which he moved on to work for Microsoft Research.
Meet Steve Furber. Steve graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics from the University of Cambridge in 1974, followed by a PhD in aerodynamics in 1980 and a Master of Mathematics (MMath) belatedly awarded in 2010. After ten years working at Acorn Computers on the BBC Micro and its successor the ARM1, he was appointed Professor at the University of Manchester in 1990, where he led a variety of research projects over 33 years culminating in the arm-powered SpiNNaker project. As of 2023, there are more than 250 billion arm designed chips on the planet, 30 for every person currently alive. Each of these chips uses the same basic Reduced Instruction Set Computer (RISC) architecture pioneed in the ARM1.
