This week on Spin It, Stephynie is speaking with Nathan Chan!
Nathan’s journey started off like so many of the other stories you hear out there. He got an IT degree because he believed it was the best degree to set him up for the future. He proceeded to get a job in IT and instantly hated it. So in order to break away from the misery, he headed off to Europe. While in Europe he had an epiphany and makes the decision not return to the job he dreads so much.
Fast forward, Nathan takes a leap of faith and bootstraps what we know today as Foundr magazine on less than three thousand dollars and takes it from idea to inception in just 4 months.
Today, Foundr is much more than the magazine it started off as. Foundr has grown into a digital content empire and serves as a major resource for today’s entrepreneurs and business owners of the future.
On today’s episode, they take an intimate look into Nathan’s journey and find out how he was able to turn several obstacles along the way into opportunities and ultimately find a way to spin life in his direction!

This week on Spin It! Stephynie is speaking with THE MARK METRY- If you have not heard of Mark or are not familiar with his work, you are in for a treat. Mark's parents immigrated from Egypt, he is first generation here in the US. Mark was so painfully shy due to various issues like mental health, social anxiety, and feeling like he just didn't quite fit in.
However, Mark prevailed! Today he is a Forbes Featured TedX speaker, host of a global top 100 podcast and a best selling author- BUT, that is not what I am most excited about. What I am most excited about is who Mark is, and how he is constantly and consistently giving back.
He has dedicated his life to being of service to others by making an impact in the industries of mental health, career enablement, mindset, health & wellness, storytelling, and more...
I'm not sure I have interviewed such an inspirational 25 year old. He has been featured on over 250+ podcasts and media like Forbes, Mindvalley, Influencive, Inc Magazine, Huff Post, Fearless Motivation, Spartan and many others. He has also interviewed top names such as Tim Ferriss, NPR, Lewis Howes & Gary Vaynerchuk.

This week Stephynie is speaking with Jay Fulcher. Jay is the CEO of Zenefits an award-winning people Ops platform. He is one of the first people Stephynie goes to for advice, especially when it comes to running a global business.
Jay has run two other companies Ooyala and Agile software and is the author of the book, People Operations, which explains how leaders can stop spending so much time on HR paperwork and truly focus on "People Work."
Jay and Stephynie dive into great resignation and what he's doing as a leader to prevent burnout and build a resilient company. They also discuss people claiming to be expert online coaches and how not to participate in any of that noise. Jay has so much knowledge to share, and Stephynie hopes you all enjoy this conversation as much as she did.

She talks about the challenges she faced as an Entrepreneur with a baby on the way and how great leadership can take a company to the next level!

Jordan Harbinger is considered one of the founding fathers of podcasting. He is a former U.S. State Department employee and Wall Street attorney who speaks five languages. Jordan has spent several years abroad in places like Serbia, Panama, and the Middle East. He has worked for various governments and NGOs overseas, traveled through war zones, led several trips through North Korea, and been kidnapped—twice.
Today, he is the host of the historic Jordan Harbinger Show, which is a top show on Apple and Spotify, year after year. Jordan’s show was also awarded Apple’s Best & Most Downloaded New Show of 2018.
He’s been speaking to the world’s brightest minds, most successful athletes, and groundbreaking thought leaders for the last 15 years. So today, we’re going to flip the script and instead of Jordan being the interviewer, he’ll be the interviewee as Stephynie asks him about his biggest obstacles he faced in his life so far.
They’re talking about Jordan’s biggest overseas obstacles, his most treacherous travel tales and how he’s conquered the podcast industry from the bottom-up.

Today we will be talking with John Lee Dumas. John grew up in Maine for the first 18 years of his life. After he graduated high school, he was awarded an Army scholarship to attend Providence College in Rhode Island. He was commissioned in the US Army after graduation and spent 13 months on active duty in Iraq.

He has published over 2,500 episodes of Entrepreneurs on Fire, earned over 80 million listens, published three books, and created a wildly successful career that helped to transform the podcasting industry. Today on the show Stephynie is speaking with the Chief Heart Officer at VaynerMedia, an emotional optimist, a speaker, writer, and mother, Claude Silver. Silver is the first-ever Chief Heart Officer of VaynerMedia. In 1989, at 19-years-old, Claude was self-admittedly “f*cked up.” She was addicted to drugs. She dropped out of school. She faced incredible hardship.
Claude knew she needed to shape up her life at 19. So she quickly took action.
Claude considered several options, including the Peace Corps. She ended up finding a three-month Outward Bound program that brought her into the wilderness for weeks at a time. She only had access to a shower once every 18 days!
It was during Claude’s time in the wilderness with Outward Bound that she developed the emotional and physical strength she needed to become the Chief Heart Officer at VaynerMedia.

Follow your passion regardless of how you look to others. Being a leader means having grit, passion and hunger, but also being able to make tough decisions in tough moments.
Today on the show Stephynie is talking with the CMO of Matterport, Robin Daniels. Robin has spent the last 20 years in Silicon Valley working for tech companies, including Salesforce, Box and LinkedIn. Robin joined Matterport at the end of March during the pandemic. They decided to accelerate their planned iPhone launch to give their target audience more tools to use during the pandemic. He was doing this while still new to his team, everyone was in complete lockdown, and they lacked some players in product marketing etc.
As a young man, Robin booked a one-way ticket from Copenhagen to San Francisco in 2000. Being 21-years old with nothing to lose, he was determined to join the tech revolution that was bubbling in Silicon Valley. He had no job, no contacts and nowhere to stay—just a passport and a boundless sense of optimism.
Since then, Robin has picked up business and marketing experience at some of the most exciting high-growth tech companies across the US. Having held executive leadership roles at WeWork, LinkedIn, SalesForce, and Box—Robin was primed to succeed in his new role as CMO at Matterport, which he took on in early 2020.

Every day we hear stories about how people have found success. They went from rags to riches, they worked hard, and they overcame huge challenges.
But every time we hear these stories they are told like overnight successes, with decades of experience and hardship being summarized into one sentence about how they “made it”
But I want to dig into these gritty, and challenging moments when they weren’t quite there yet, or when everything came crashing down on them.
I want to dig into the truth, grit, and authenticity so few are willing to share about their journeys to success. And I want to inspire you to see failures and obstacles as stepping stones towards success.
I’m your host Stephynie Malik, and welcome to SPIN IT: Business & Crisis Management where here, the worst of times can become the best of times because it’s all in how you spin it!
