Let’s Start WithINdiana!
Each week we speak with founders and ecosystem builders about their journey - insights they have to share on the other side of the learning, gaps that exist and where they came from, and we’ll celebrate all the wins along the way.
Broadcasting from the Crossroads State, at the median center of the United States, we’re sharing with you how to start with Indiana - experiences and insights from the heartland so that you know about them to continue your journey. Grant Carlile is your emcee for the Start With Indiana podcast.

Week 28 2021 | Start WithINdiana
Welcome to week 28 2021 of the Start with Indiana podcast, I am your emcee Grant Carlile.
This week we’re going to review last week’s digest we’re going to look at the topic for create new markets of the techstars toolkit their entrepreneurial toolkit tool kids yeah they have they have multiple steps in the toolkit and step four is all about taking what you learned in step 3 and the category design in applying that to a new market also in the newsletter under Community we have multiple deadline’s coming up across Indiana and a couple of great stories that talk about success in Indiana Ventures raising rounds and so on so it will review last week’s newsletter in anticipation for this week’s and then we’ll in successive episodes talk through the newsletter upcoming and will have guest appearances from across the state with a ecosystem Builder and a founder and pairing those areas and hearing from both of them so the 4.0 the techstars toolkit topic for is about creating new markets and there’s a couple different stages that you walk through so of course the worksheet at the beginning is something that you’re encouraged to participate in and do that worksheet worksheet sets the stage for each step along the way so step one then after you complete the worksheet is the category design strategy what strategy will you use in the outline different strategies you might take and it really starts at the approach so what approach you take it will define an ultimately play into the direction you go tattoos on the problem and 3 is then applying a name to that problem this often times I think about Persona design 4 5 and 6 are closely tied together about sort of a customer validation and setting up those conversations and then the timeline you want to lay out because then in Step seven you’re laying that out into a blueprint and step 8 is talking then about how you bring that all together in with what they call a point of view go ahead and check out step 9 and see how the case study applies to what it is you maybe came up with if someone’s going through a founder of founding team is going through this kind of market and end category design this would be a great episode or great news letter to forward to them upcoming topics five six and seven will be position your product 6 lb powerful branding tools and 7 will be give your elevator pitch there’s a couple of deadlines coming up across the community the application for the next up Discovery week is July 15th G bettas Main Street program application deadline is July 19th virtual book club going on through the start of ladies book club that’s going to start happening on July 21st at 6 p.m. what MC is happening down in Indi that’s on July 28th and then also there’s a whole bunch of techstars accelerator applications open and so we link you to all of the open applications in the newsletter a couple stories this week from across Indiana The Angel Network the IU Angel Network invest in one of the Y combinator graduates and their how you graduate as well so that sort of connection back to IU in Indiana feels really nice and we featured that story first also mandolin raised 12 million it was a tech crunch broke the story and and that’s an india-based company coming out of high alpha so the concert live streaming platform mandolin Bay Rays 12 million congratulations mandolin and then any Tech firm Lambs 100 million investment so broke the story of onboard there is a hundred million and congratulations to onboard.
