An look into the activities and people involved with South Bay Clean Creeks Coalition and the San Jose, Ca. river and creek system.
I interviewed avid fisherman Michael Ponce who is temporarily residing near Los Gatos Creek for our podcast, to get his point of view on the issues going on in the Watershed. We touched on different topics for this episode like his roots, mental health, and what steps San Jose might need to take to bring back a healthier salmon population.
Our intern Jordan interviews Joshua Lopez about his role in South Bay Clean Creeks Coalition, community outreach, the creation of the podcast, and the direction of the show. Stay tuned for more episodes to come.
I was able to interview Merav Vonshak, who runs Bioblitz.club and hosts the Bioblitz for South Bay Clean Creeks Coalition. We discuss what is a Bioblitz, getting the public involved, what is INaturalist, what you might find in the parks along the creeks, getting involved with SBCCC, different ecosystems on the same river, and the importance of caring for the ecosystems we live in. I get to catch up with Steve Holmes to talk about the origins of South Bay Clean Creeks Coalition, answering the call of the river, insights into some of the pollution issues in the creek, and trying different forms of reaching the community.
