Critics of Universal Basic Income say it detracts from the dignity of work, disincentives people from working and makes them lazy.
The UBI critics say that there is value from working that transcends remuneration and if we give people something for nothing, then something else will be taken from us; there is no such thing as a free lunch and money for nothing carries the price of the loss of dignity.

Minsky was a 20th century economist who spotted the debt cycles that the economy goes through. His research attempted to provide an understanding and explanation of the characteristics of financial crises, which he attributed to swings in a potentially fragile financial system. In other words he 'saw it coming'.
He was also a fan of UBI or universal basic income and how it may be able to address the boom and bust nature of the current economic system.
