In May 2015, we started a church in the centre of Camden called Hope and Anchor Community Church. It is a church for the people of Camden, tourists and residents alike, and it seeks to create a community of believers who can see the streets of Camden transformed. Hope and Anchor Community Church has a heart to put the body of Christ above the structure of religious services. It also seeks to reach out to the people of Camden, to help meet needs that they have, rather than being an insulated body that is primary concerned with itself.

Thisweek, Salma speaks on how our faiths shouldn't be compartmentalized or compromised. Every area of our lives and our faiths should reflect God, nothing should be divided. This New Year’s Eve, join us to be reminded what leaving behind 2023 is all about. This was a year of pruning, of God cutting away the old. While this can be uncomfortable, it’s important to look back at the grace of God’s yesterday, so that we can look forward to the grace of God’s tomorrow. We’re pruned for the sake of receiving the new of God: what in our lives are we looking to dress up more like Christ in the new year? And remember, end the year in thankfulness. Thank God for what He’s pruned, how He’s matured you, and for what newness He’s bringing in the new year.

This Christmas eve, join our choir and dancers in worshiping and praising the birth of Christ. Hear about how we don’t need to afraid of God, despite Him brining disruption and change to the earth through His birth. Rather, the disruption brought was brought for the sake of returning peace to our hearts and minds, peace founded in our relationship with Him. Then end with another wonderful song with our choir. From all of us at Hope and Anchor Community Church, Merry Christmas!

In this preaching, Chris charges us to look at our spiritual and emotional ‘place’ with eyes of faith and self-realization. Through the story of Abram and Lot’s division of land, he examines issues such as brokenness, intimacy and identity, offering the revelation that perhaps the blessings that we have been seeking are already accessible to us. Prepare to be encouraged and for your eyes to be opened to the understanding that THIS MUST BE THE PLACE.

Jesus provides NEW GRACE for us to stand firm in each season, while commanding us to leave His old grace behind. Did you know that God’s grace expires? Like the sick man by the pool called Bethesda, God will provide grace and covering over us for each season. However, when we stay under the covering of old grace for to long, it becomes a place of sickness and death. As you enter the new season, will you remain in old grace, in a place of squalor and decay? Or are you ready to take the hand of Jesus and walk out of His old grace, into the new season with Him by your side?

THE WAY OUT THERE
Jesus is the Gate through which we both enter eternity, and are protected from the devil. Have you ever tried to stand before the Father on your own, only to go sideways? Have you tried to lead people, or yourself, only to stumble and fall? There is one gate through which we should be lead: JESUS. He stops us from going sideways and returning to our sin. He lies at the gate of the pasture, taking our punishment for us. We cannot win more love from God: He’s just waiting for us. Are you ready to ask, “God, are you my gate? Do I have access to you as my gate?”

The Bible is full of “NOT COMMON” - moments. Join us by exploring the story of Ruth. Ruth moved out of reverence and faith knowing who her God was and because of God's covering, she overcame societal standards. In ‘Break The Illusion’, pastor Chris challenges us to break out of simply believing in God and into knowing Him and walking in relationship with Him. The sermon goes through John 8 and brings the point that simply knowing the truth will not set you free, but clinging to the truth in relationship is where we experience freedom in Christ.
These are the scriptures being referenced to:
John 8:31-36 (NIV)

This week, Chris challenges us to stay under the "dripline" of Christ, to be oaks of righteousness that stand through trials by His power. In life, hardships and struggles are guaranteed, but we also have a good God who shows His nearness and depth in our hardest moments. A quick fix will never show us the depth of God. Tune in if you need encouragement to keep going, to stand strong and to stay under His dripline of power.
These are the scriptures being referenced to:
Ephesians 6:13-17
1 Samuel 4:18
2 Corinthians 1:3-5

HEAD ON
According to the dictionary "head-on" refers to “a head-on collision".
Heads have always been used to symbolise the government, royalty and leadership. When people or institutions are moving, God moves as well.
The World needs a head more than ever, the World needs Jesus.
Today we go forward, looking into passages from Ephesians, 1st Samuel & Psalms, we go HEAD ON.
These are the scriptures he referenced:
Ephesians 6:10-17
1 Samuel 3:1-2
1 Samuel 4:14-18
Psalm 23

RAISE THE BAR
We all have expectations and standards we set for our lives. Some of these expectations come from other people. And some of them come from God. How high is the bar that we’ve set for ourselves? Is it very low, so that we know that we will be able to reach it without the fear of failing? Or is it very high and it intimidates us? Or do we have faith to set the bar at the height that God sets it for us?
Let’s raise the bar and go with Eric through the story of Joshua. He shares about how Joshua followed in the footsteps of Moses and set his own bar, for the generation coming after him, which includes us!
These are the scriptures he referenced:
Joshua 1:6 – 9
Joshua 1:16-18
Joshua 6:2-5
Joshua 10:7-11
Joshua 13 – 22
Joshua 24:14-15

God forms us, He touches us, He shapes us, and He fills us. We want to be exposed to God and who He is. We have been given more than enough. Let us not underestimate how much God has filled us. Jesus came to fill us day in and out, and to give us life in abundance so we would not run dry.
Have you let God fill you today?
There was a disconnect in this paralyzed man's life. Many of us find ourselves disconnected from what Jesus wants to do in and through us in this place, in this moment. What is an area that you have let yourself become disconnected? Jesus wants to meet you in this spot, right now.
Do you know that you belong in God? You don't have to stay disconnected. Take your mat and go to where you belong.
What are you expecting from God? When you are expectant to see God move, you become hungry to see Him move, and that hunger, that appetite will affect the people around you into expecting seeing God move as well. God is the Provider, but often we lose our reverence for His provision if we are not hungry. Once we have tested the goodness of God, it ignites in us an appetite for who He is. That craving can not be satisfied by anything else. God is calling us near, calling us into His glory. God didn't come to give us religion. He came to give us life and life in abundance.
Are we hungry for His presence today?
Jesus brought a select group of His disciples up the mountain with Him, to see the glory of God and to have a new revelation of who He is. Sometimes we will be unwilling to leave our comfortable valleys, sometimes we will be criticized for the places Jesus is taking us or how that will look, and sometimes we will get carried away like Peter and start talking before Jesus has asked anything from us there. But God Himself calls us, and covers us. He is calling us up the mountain. We don't have to be perfect, we just have to follow.
Are you willing today to go up the mountain with Jesus?
The disciples found themselves in between the old familiar ways, and the shore where Jesus was waiting. We all have storms, both around us and inside us. Our storms are not too big for God, they will not blow Him away. We all have storms, but those storms obey Jesus. Jesus is here in every frustration and disappointment we have right now.
Are we willing to leave behind our coping mechanisms, our cultures, our thoughts and emotions, and just swim to Jesus today?
The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in Him. The Lord directs. He orders a man's steps. Those steps are established by God. God goes with us along the way. He walks with us. We have to keep on walking. To press in. Our steps have to be pressing steps so we can take hold of what God has made for us to take hold of. We gotta press in if we want to grab those things. Sometimes we have stopped pressing.
What about the steps God has shared with you from before? Are you pressing in?
As your desires are trying to corrupt you, be renewed in the spirit that Jesus gave you. We need to move away from the old things in order to repent and be restored. Jesus came to restore your life in even this moment. Only the brave are able to repent. Only those brave ones are the ones that allow Jesus to be near.
Do you want to be brave? Or do you want to stay stuck on your mindsets and thoughts of yesterday? We need renewal for today, yesterday's renewal is already old. It's time to be brave.
Nehemiah positioned his heart into alignment with the heart of God, and it was months of preparation of him being in the heart of God before he saw movement. But when God was ready to move, Nehemiah was ready to move as well. He had the favour of God and he was ready. He stayed ready even as he had to wait for it. God is bringing a new revival.
Are you willing to wait for it? And have you aligned yourself with the heart of God?
The grave was found empty not just for us, but for others. God has hopes for you that do not end with what you have lived. He is not afraid of our scars or wounds.
There is nothing impossible for the one who overcame death for you and me. Today is a new beginning. We will keep on moving forward.
Today we put ourselves in the shoes of the people who were looking at the cross in that moment, the people who walked with Jesus.
My story becomes what He created it to be. This story doesn't finish here. This is Good Friday.
Jacob was born clinging, grasping at the heel of his brother. He had a need to be blessed. God had already blessed him but he didn't understand it so he tried to achieve it his way. All the running he did led him to lose his perspective. Maybe you've been pushing in your flesh to gain, and maybe you have lost because you've been pushing in your own strength.
Today God asks us to stop. Stop wrestling. Stop fighting on your own. You need a touch of God.
Maybe it won't come to build what you think it will, maybe it will break something so that you can understand the grace that is for you. God is the one who has overcome your struggle.
Through everything in David's life, God kept David close to His heart, He gave David the tools of worship so that no matter where he was pushed by life, he would remain close to the Father. Although we don't understand we can trust in God. God is not lazy or forgetful or uninterested in your life. He has not just one, but both of His hands on your life!
God is keeping us near to the promise even if He takes us away from the parts of the promise we understand, He always keeps us near to His heart.
Sometimes we think we need to be pure and perfect before we come to God but God will intervene for us even at our worst. All of us have a little of Saul and a little of Paul in us, we have that tension, that push and pull in us. You might feel blind right now but keep following. You don't need to know where God is going in order to follow.
Are we going to bow to the Lord or are we going to continue to be blind? We need to stop pushing in our flesh and start being pulled by the Spirit.
What makes us the people for the job? God has designed us to be passionate, and in that passion He reveals His heart to each one of us.
And in this season God is inviting us to believe that even in between the push and the pulls of the season, we are capable of the things that He is calling us to do.
Are we owned by the Presence or by our pasts?
Jesus meets with you in your today! Sometimes we don't expect much because we don't think we have much.
Have I let myself be affected by the season, and where are my additions? What am I displaying this season? Jesus came to heal our expectations and our understandings. The belonging and the challenge of Jesus go hand in hand.
Are we displaying that we have enough in Him?
God is asking us to show our ID and say “I belong.” And He is calling us not only to have faith, but to grow in understanding of who we are in Him.
To put on the armour of God and to walk in the identity that He has given us.
In this new season, are we dressed for the occasion? Are we wearing the full armour of God?
Jesus had come from a context of being baptized and confirmed as God's son, then going through the desert and the temptations, and then He came straight back to the temple. He approached and confronted first the religious elite, and challenged them by breaking their traditions to bring the Truth.
What is Jesus challenging in us in this season? We are not identified by the season and situations that we are living. We are identified as being found in Him.
Every part of us that is not aligned with Jesus needs to come into line with who He is. It's time to show your ID.
Noah worked by faith. He didn't respond to what he knew or saw in the land around him. He responded to what God said with faith. When God asks us to build our arks we need to take action and see the task through.
Your faith matters. How are you choosing to respond to God's promptings?
In a world where we are constantly being bombarded by information, God is bringing His revelation. Our faith needs to be in movement. Maybe we have parked our cars, our faith, in a certain place without even trying to get closer to our goals. Jesus wants our hearts to be ready and expectant for the things He is bringing.
In what areas have you parked your faith in this season? And where is God asking you to keep moving?
Mark 3:1-5 Jesus is walking into our lives, coming close like He always does.
What are we going to do when Jesus asks us to come close to Him, when He asks us to stretch out the areas and parts of our lives that have become shriveled and dried out?
