We bring you on a hero's journey to create your own path to transform your life to close the gap between who you are now to become who you are capable of being.
Jessica and Darren Salquist invite you to master yourself in this episode. That is where it all starts. You first. Be the HERO you can be for YOU.
We've recently conducted an inspiring and transformative workshop at CoreFit, titled "Unleash Your True Potential." With 20 passionate individuals in attendance, we delved into essential tools for self-reflection, achieving wildly important goals, and the virtues that we embody in our lives. Steven Pressfield encapsulates the essence of virtues in his profound statement: "Virtues are like music. They vibrate at a higher, noble pitch." Here's a breakdown of what we discussed, and perhaps it will inspire you to reach out and join one of our future workshops.
This episode, we discuss understanding and activating your superpower by embracing the principle of "why." We all make mistakes or fall off the path to our goals from time to time, so how do we make the pre-commitment, make the commitment, and recommit? It's not a bad idea to recommit to your protocols and goals every day. Check out the Heroic application to help you meet goals and recommit every day.

Stephen Covey states, "Moving along the upward spiral requires us to learn, commit, and do on increasingly higher planes. We deceive ourselves if we think that any one of these is sufficient. Happy day to you from Jessica and Darren Salquist, Heroic Performance Coaches. We are on the 6th objective of the book Heroic by Brian Johnson with the Heroic Public Benefit Corporation. We have been reviewing all 7 objectives in the book Arete.Jose Raul Capablanca, Third World Chess Champion said, "You may learn much more from a game you lose than from a game you win. You will have to lose hundreds of games before becoming a good player." That's right. How do we celebrate a loss or failure since we know we will learn something from it? When an obstacle occurs, how to you target your thinking to flip that switch and go into- what is the reality, what do I want and take action? We chat about what are some examples of fundamentals, what's most important to you? Eating, moving, sleep, breathing, being present, prospering and gratitude amongst many others. Where can you spend some more time focusing? Foundation building is key to your ability to achieve your goals, consistency, finding your flow and committing. You got this my friend. We are so grateful to be a part of a Heroic Program and wanted to share with you all of the 7 objectives of the book Arete by Brian Johnson. We will add the link to the book down below. Objective 1: Know the Ultimate Game"Targeted thinking: What do I want? Now what needs to be done?" - Brian Johnson
We talk a lot about closing the gap to your heroic potential and who you are currently. It can come down to an acceptance of your current reality. Listen in and we will walk through the tool of targeted thinking so you can practice working through challenges, fears and obstacles. Become the creator instead of the victim.BONUS: We share a quick gift of presence. A visualization of going back in time to a radiant version of yourself, a vibrant you, a person full of life. What were you doing during that time? Who were you around? What were you not doing? Take a moment to reflect and write it down. Do more of what brought you joy. You have a life of experiences when things were working, do more of that. In this episode, Jessica and Darren Salquist talk about creating a word or phrase that can guide you through your life, month and year so that you can make respond and show up the best version of yourself everyday. Carefully defining your personal guiding word is a positive way to anchor your intentions for a new day, new month or new year. Patrick Ness states, "And there. The power of a word. The power of one word. That's where it all changes."We talk about our word/phrase from last year and our new word for the new year. We reflect on how using your word as a guide, we learned more about ourselves and shared how we use the word to elevate us to the next level. We share how we use our word/phrase when challenges arise. We discuss ways for you to determine your guiding word, whether that be for a quarter or a year. We are always reassessing on what is working and what what needs work.We provide Self-Mastery and Life-Coaching for those who are ready to take their lives to the next level.Follow Darren Salquist, Life Changer, Self-Mastery and Wellness Coach, PTA and Personal Trainer on IG: @salquid Linkedin: Darren Salquist

Darren and Jessica Salquist want to encourage you to be more curious. How can we become more curious? What is it like to be more curious? How can being curious cultivate a good conversation and better communication. Even learning more about yourself. "Our curious search for truth and understanding makes us unique compared with the other creatures on this planet. Our search drives strange behaviors, create strange inventions, and appears crazy at times, but it just might be the right kind of crazy." - Adam Steltzner. Being curious may bring you closer to your goals, targets and dreams. One step closer at time. Can you shine a light on something by asking more questions and understanding more about it? Then after you shine the light on it your then you create the plan and hammer it out. At the same time, not hammering by beating yourself up but hammering though the obstacles. Jessica and Darren want to help you take your life to the next level by sharing the benefits of gratitude in your life. When is the time for gratitude? All the time. This is our 7th out of the 9 part series we will be focusing on virtues. Check out this quote we break down together.
"I believe that gratitude is the best approach to life. When life is going well, it allows us to celebrate and magnify the goodness. When life is going badly, it provides a perspective by which we can view life in its entirety and not be overwhelmed by temporary experiences. And this is what grateful people do. They have learned to transform adversity into opportunity no matter what happens, to see existence itself as a gift." -Robert Emmons
It is easy to have gratitude when things are going well. How grateful are you when things are not so great? How do you flip the switch during an adverse event to find gratitude more quickly instead of dwelling on the problem? You go this. Listen in to find out some tips.

Welcome to Next Level: Good Vibes Only where Jessica and Darren Salquist share some awesomeness on HOPE. Let's create hope for ourselves and each other.
Martin Luther King Jr had a dream. A dream that his "four children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character." A dream can be defined as a cherished aspiration, ambition. or ideal. He had hope that the future would allow for his dream to come true. He also put into action a plan to help cultivate that hope/dream.
That is what hope takes, building a plan, knowing the obstacles will occur, work hard, never give up, making progress, building momentum and repeat.
Shane Lopez, PhD. states "Hope is created moment to moment through our deliberate choices. It happens when we use our thoughts and feelings to temper our aversion to loss and actively pursue what is possible. When we choose hope, we define what matters to us most.

Thank you for joining us. Jessica and Darren Salquist, love birds for the last 16 years, are married and are both Self-Mastery Coaches. We had fun discussing components of the virtue LOVE.
"Love is not something you stumble or fall into. While love can certainly catch you by surprise, like a sudden rain, unlike the weather, you can also seed and cultivate the conditions for love all on your own." - Barbara Frederickson Ph.D.
Just like everything in life, we can cultivate our goals, focus on what is important to us and experience the growth from the hard work. We talk about responding to a bids, accepting love from others and ourselves, how we can phrase things like "only part of me is *sad * frustrated * angry with you."
There is no school of love so we get to figure out how to love ourselves and each other. Once you figure it out...you keep working on it and you see how important it is. Love makes the world go around with love. Sounds good to us. Thanks for listening. Don't forget to like, review and share with this podcast with others.

We see your courage today. Do you see your courage? Listening to this podcast and working on yourself takes courage. Sometimes taking your first step of the day takes courage. Courage comes in all sizes. It takes courage also to let your light shine. Let it shine, our friends. Let it shine.
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us." - Marianne Williamson
Have you not done something that would make you shine because of fear? Heck yes, it can be scary, but it also can be very exciting. Remember obstacles make us stronger (OMMS), we can practice being anti-fragile every day and we can intensely trust ourselves having true confidence even though we make mistakes. We all do it and we all can learn from it. You got this life.

Enjoy the 3rd of our 9 part series focusing on The Compass of Life Virtues as Jessica and Darren Salquist talk about self-mastery. Jessica and Darren are self-mastery coaches who love sharing insight on how we can choose our own way.
Viktor Frankl stated "Everything can be taken from a man but one thing; The last of human freedoms- to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way." The one thing no one can take from you is your attitude, your choice on how to respond. Sometimes the best response is not responding at all.
We share about emotional stamina, protocols, rebound days, structural discipline, reactive discipline, and expansive discipline. If you are ready for some self-mastery coaching, let's set up a time to chat.

Join us for some love talk. Darren and Jessica, self-mastery coaches and lovers of life, discuss finding micro-moments of love with those around you.
Barbara Frederickson states love grows best when you are attuned to the present moment, your bodily sensations, as well as to the actions and reactions of others. Sadly, you miss out when you are more attuned to technology, to-do lists, and mass media than to the unique and wonderous individuals in your day.
Don't miss out on unneeded distractions that disconnect you from love and connection to others. Being present is a gift of love.
BONUS INCLUDED: Lovingkindness meditation practice recording for you to follow.

Jessica and Darren Salquist here, Life Changing Coaches. Happy you are joining us on this journey called life. Celebrating you and us together. We get to make the choice to move forward, progressing to be 1% BETTER every day. One percent sounds attainable, right? I say yes, and let's do it. That's like you, my friend.
We had the opportunity and perfect timing to get to meet, Mental Performance Coach, Brian Cain. We share the story in the podcast how we all shared an inspiring moment. Thank you, Brian for that. We love this quote by Brian Cain, "The reason why writing it down is so important to us is that when you write down your intention, you take it from the clouds and you put it in the dirt. Where do you think things grow? In the dirt". What an awesome visual. Pulling down the intention/goal/idea from the ether/clouds and bringing it into reality, and taking action. Once you bring it from the clouds, it makes it attainable to act on. We need action and momentum to be created for our ability to get 1% better. Grow time. Now feed it and give it sunlight (you).
In this podcast, we share some simple tools and concepts from Brian Cains book: One Percent Better. One of our favorite references of his is, GOYA, Get Off Your Anatomy. Learn more about 14:24 and the steps to success with us as you listen to Next Level: Good Vibes Only.

Listen in while Jessica and Darren talk about what and how we attract thoughts, circumstances, beliefs, and outcomes into out lives. What are we manifesting with intention, what are we visualizing and thinking into our lives? Let's spend more time thinking, believing and talking and sharing the things we want to attract in our lives, not the things we don't want in our lives. Taking action is key for manifesting and attracting the things we love into our lives.
Esther and Jerry Hicks stated "Make statements such as: I want to be the best that I can be. I want to do and have and live in a way that is in harmony with my idea of the greatest goodness. I want to harmonize physically here in this body with that which I believe to be the best, or the good way, of life"
Attract what you love. Be well.
Darren and Jessica Salquist share aspects of forgiveness, acceptance, letting go, and no judgment.
Jessica wrote,
"A time for reflection of all the imperfections, No longer holding us back from our right to evolution, Letting go from all that we see, No longer feelings of resentment for you and me, Forgiveness is a pathway for self-compassion and love, For us to have cracks for the light to enter from above."
Seneca states, "It is not prudent to deny a pardon to any man, Without first examining if we stand not in need of it ourselves."
What if acceptance was a pathway to forgiveness? What if we didn't judge ourselves and others so we can let go and continue to grow? What if we were empowered by letting go, acceptance, and no judgment?
Stop drinking the poisonous resentment and judgment and forgive.

How are you investing in yourself emotionally and physically? What's working? What needs work? What is the plan?
Plan, do check act / adjust.
We continually check-in and reassess the pathway to our goal.
How will you profit from your investment in self?

Good day to you all. Jessica and Darren Salquist talk about victory and defeat. Does one come with the other? Can you have the thrill of victory without the agony of defeat? There is a relationship between them, and we see the good in both.
Gandhi stated, "Satisfaction lies in the effort, not in the attainment. Full effort is full victory." As far as defeat, Napoleon Hill stated, "When defeat comes, accept it as a signal that our plans are not sound, rebuild those plans, and set sail once more towards your coveted goal."
Jessica and Darren break down these quotes, sharing the relationship between the two. Buddhism talks about changing the poison into medicine. Taking the not-so-good and making it into something that feeds our soul. Flipping our mindset to see the victory from the moments of defeat.
If you have a topic you would like us to discuss more, share in a comment. We would love to hear from you. Be well.
Jessica and Darren Salquist, Personal Trainer, Wellness Coaches, Life Changers and a Reflexologist. The goal of our podcasts is to bring a bit of cheer and good vibes to you all.
Vocation is a strong feeling of suitability for life. What is your vocation? Purpose? Reason for living? Destiny? Marcus Aurelius says our vocation is to be a good person and we agree.
Listen in while these two coaches share some stoic wisdom and what they practice each day to continue to be a good person. It is a daily practice. Some days are better than others. As long as this practice is our guiding light, we are making progress.

The Salquist Coaches talk about what it would be like to get better each day rather than strive to be good. Heidi Grant Halverson said "Just like goals, not all plans are created equal. An effective plan is one that spells out exactly what will be done, and where and how." That is the truth. Get creative with your plan to reach your goal. Love the process and be flexible to the outcome. You never know, something amazing (even an obstacle) could get you back on track or catapult you to something you never imagined. The Salquist Coaches and Wellness Advocates chat about what is essential in your life and how you will prioritize it. Once you figure out your priorities, do more of it. Gary Keller talks about the "One Thing," and Jason Selk + Tom Bartow share tools to identify what is essential. They state, "In our experience, those who enjoy the most success are the ones who do the best job prioritizing the day's activities and accomplishing the most important task-not the greatest number of tasks." Being busy does not get rewarded; it's productivity that gets rewarded. How can we be more productive? Prioritize, prioritize, prioritize. If we spend our time doing things that are not our priority, how does that make you feel? Ask yourself, what is the most important thing for you to get done today? Now, break it down, make it easy and get it done. Be well.
Jessica and Darren Salquist talk about the ability to rise again after we fall. Fall nine times and get up 10. Rise again, rise again, rise again is a great mantra. As long as life, obstacles will come, and we will rise again. Mark Devine stated, "A positive mindset and emotional state are crucial for adaptability. After all, it is easy to be all rainbows and roses when things are going well. Everyone wants to be a frogman (Navy Seal term) on a sunny day, as the SEAL instructors put it. But bring on the shit, and let's see how attitude changes, shall we? The power of optimism and a positive mindset cannot be overstated." Commit to rising again. Falling is not a failure; it's an opportunity to rise up better. This is the definition of growth. Be well.
Jessica and Darren talk about rhythm and flow when it comes to eating, moving, sleeping, energy, work, and love. What is your If ....Then...... If this.......Then that.....? How are you finding your flow each morning you way up and what do you do when you realize you are not on beat with your rhythm? "It's the repetition of affirmations that lead us to believe. And once that belief becomes a deep conviction, things happen" per Muhammed Ali. Once you create a behavior that brings value and is on autopilot, the belief comes and is followed by conviction and you no longer have to reply on willpower because it just is.

"Shane Lopez states hopeful people believe there are many paths to their goals. None of them are free from obstacles.
Life is full of obstacles every day. So, where do we find the balance and remain hopeful? Having hope is believing tomorrow can be better than today—a brighter future. Take action and create your own brighter future, knowing there are obstacles and an infinite number of pathways to reach your goals. "
