It's a case study that serves as a vital lesson for parents raising children, women navigating the dating scene, and even good men on the hunt for their perfect match. On a dating app, a man boldly proclaimed that women are only good for sex, but it doesn't end there. He proceeded to blame single mothers for societal issues, attack the mental stability of women on OnlyFans, declare all men want sister-wives, and state older women should have little to no standards. Is it our responsibility as black people to carry the entire culture and everyone in it on our backs every time we walk outside, go to the grocery store, etc.? From the Will Smith and Chris Rock slap heard around the nation, to any other mishaps and altercations that happen among black people, the entire black community -- all 45.6 Million black Americans -- are held accountable and responsible. Why is that? In what world do celebrities, who are part of the 1%, represent all the rest of us regular, degular black Americans who are just trying to thrive, survive and live? Why is it the only narrative shown is the negative and those are the cultural representatives? Whereas the millions of hardworking, tax paying, law abiding black Americans are ignored and overlooked, though we're actually the largest group?
We might hurt a few feelings and trigger a bit of controversy with this one, but that's what happens when we hit the couch. Grab a friend and get ready, sips are gonna get real!

We're talking about how to trust after trauma. Trauma and mental health importance are finally getting the recognition they deserve. However, one f the most difficult things is learning to trust again (yourself and others) after a traumatic experience. We have both experienced traumatic experiences throughout our lives, including sexual assault. But we are not victims, we are survivors. And we are speaking to the healing process because after surviving comes thriving, if you set your mind to be a victor and not just a victim. It is possible to trust again after trauma, and we're sharing the methods that helped us to move forward and upward.

In 2019 Disney announced its casting for the role of Ariel in their live-action remake of “The Little Mermaid” and adults took to social media to have a fit and express their outrage with #NotMyAriel. Fast forward to 2022 and the first trailer is causing the same, tantrums, hysteria, and keyboard conniptions among adults. As two women who grew up in the Renaissance Era of the Disney princesses, we’re talking about our favorites, our perspectives on their legacies as they are physically diversified, the repetition of history (ala Brandy as Cinderella in 1997*), anti-blackness thinly hidden behind righteous indignation, the exploitation of children, and so much more. Juneteenth was a sacred holiday in the black community. It was a "if you know, you know" thing. However, with Juneteenth becoming a federal holiday in 2021, we at ALS2WA have one question: Why? Did we really need governmental approval to celebrate something we've been celebrating for over 100 years? And with the Juneteenth Ice Cream foolishness, there's the risk of it being commercialized and prioritized like other cultural holidays-- St. Patrick's Day and Cinco de Mayo, for example.
