In my last video I touched on Mental Health.
The response was insane. It resonated with a lot of people.
I wanted to share this message today incase you feel the same. I remember I used to feel guilty and embarrassed about how I felt.
In this video I share practical ideas, which have helped me, to help you understand and manage your mental health.
1 - Books
2 - Professional Help
3 - Family & Friends
There are other quick ways to change your state: Exercise, Nature and Music.
Again, these work for me so they may not work for you!
I don’t believe you can cure mental health but I think you can do a pretty amazing job of understanding it, managing it and dealing with it.
I’ve had some low points but looking back now I am so much better at dealing with everything my mind throws at me.
I am not a doctor or psychologist so what I say could be a load of rubbish. But I think it works.
It's worth a try, right?
I’ve stopped playing football.
Sharing this helps me and will hopefully help some others too.
On Sunday I had a chat to my manager and assistant manager and told them I needed a break from football.
They were fully supportive and understanding. It wasn’t an issue with the club it was a personal issue.
Over the past few years I have been feeling increasingly unfulfilled and dissatisfied from playing football. I wasn’t happy.
I didn’t want to stop, it was all I had known. It’s all I’d done. It was my job, I was getting paid for it.
It would be so tough to just stop.
But over the past few years I have learned how to improve my mood, happiness, fulfilment and satisfaction.
I’ve found something I love doing: coaching and making videos (yes tiktoks and YouTube), you might laugh? It probably sounds a bit crazy. You’re probably right! Maybe it’s a quarter life crisis - I’m almost 24!
But I have made my decision and it feels like a weight off of my shoulders.
For the next year I want to fully focus on what I enjoy doing and what makes me happy - lots of coaching and videos. And that is why I’ve taken a break from football.
Today's chat is with Aidan Nesbitt. We discuss his journey so far and why, despite being footballers, we are still trying to be footballers.
