A self-help podcast. Join me, Adam Powney, for my reflections, thoughts, and journey to live a meaningful life.
Why is the comparison to others becoming dangerous to us? I’ve seen this more and more, especially with social media and we are losing perspective on what is “real” and what is an “edited life”. In the episode I look at exploring how the “I wish” and “I want to” are the wrong attitude to have.
“You are in charge of your social media”… Some would disagree.
Social media platforms make money on your attention. That’s a fact. These platforms also want you to stay on theirs for as long as possible. Why? Because they can make money on that. Seen The Social Dilemma? It’s all on there. Before you say “you’re just going on what they’ve said in the documentary”, I’ve known this for a long time. It’s my job to know how they work as a Social Media Manager.
I explore my thoughts around this and give you tools to overcome negativity and seeing posts that simply don’t add value.
During the creation of a video for my nan, who is in hospital, I wanted to share a place I go to, to relax and sit calmly, taking in the beauty. This was to take her mind off of everything else. So, I took her on a video journey to Salisbury Cathedral. My “Place of Calm”. As a result, I put a tweet out asking my followers about their places of calm. Listen to hear more on it.
In this episode, I reflect on moments where my anxiety has built up so much, before an event, that it clouds my opinion of it. However, looking at the other side of it, how does pushing yourself out of your comfort zone benefit you? Pre-event anxiety exists because you get pushed into a zone, either beyond your control or out of your comfort zone. I explore this more.
In the episode, I reflect on the highlights from the book Atomic Habits by James Clear.
Audio Diaries with Adam Powney is just that. Some people choose to write a journal or diary, I prefer to verbalise it. Join me as I reflect on the lessons I am learning along my journey to live a meaningful life.
