Shizuku Integration: Power Without RootTime for another Game Changer!

You can now perform root-level actions without actually rooting your device!

Tasker now has full Shizuku integration. This allows you to run shell commands, toggle system settings, and manage permissions with elevated privileges that were previously restricted.

It also brings back the Logcat Entry event for everyone, just like before Android restricted it!

Existing actions like Airplane Mode, Wifi, Mobile Data, and many more now use Shizuku automatically to work more reliably than ever. It even makes Wifi Tether work on Android 16+!

It even includes a Run Shell Helper to help you find your specific phone’s hidden APIs!

Java Code ActionFor the power users and developers, Tasker just became limitless!

You can now run arbitrary Java code and native Android APIs directly inside a Tasker action. Want to access deep Accessibility Services, handle complex UI operations, or implement your own listeners? Now you can!

Don’t know how to code? Don’t worry! The AI Assistant is built right into the action to help you write and modify the code you need.

Think of this as Tasker Unlocked: if Android can do it, Tasker can now do it!

You can find documentation about the Java Code action here.

Offline Sunrise and SunsetThe new Get Sunrise/Sunset action works completely offline. You can get exact times for sunrise, sunset, dawn, and dusk based on your location. You can even calculate times for specific dates or custom sun angles.

Perfect for automating your lights or screen brightness based on the actual position of the sun!

Enhanced NotificationsThe Notify action just got a major upgrade!

You can now use Live Updates to show status chips in your status bar or expanded info in the notification itself. You also have full control over notification Grouping, ensuring your status bar stays exactly how you want it, even on the latest Android versions!

Import from ClipboardSharing and importing Tasker projects is now easier than ever!

Just copy any Tasker XML or Data URI to your clipboard, head to the main Tasker screen, and hit the ‘+’ button or press CTRL+V. Tasker will instantly recognize the data and import it for you.

Extra TriggersTasker can now be triggered by dedicated Extra Trigger apps!

Whether it’s a “Home”, “Car”, or “Bixby” trigger, you can now use these standalone apps to kick off your Tasker automations instantly. It’s a great way to create physical or software shortcuts that feel native to your device!

Tasker AI Automation GeneratorTime for another Game Changer!

You can now simply SAY what you want to build, and Tasker’s new AI helper will generate it for you!

Start by saying something simple like

I want no sound at home

The AI will understand what you mean and will ask you what Home is for you: for example, a connection to a wifi network or a location on a map. You tell it where Home is, and it’ll automatically create a Tasker automation for you that’ll turn off the sound when you’re there!

This is an awesome way to get started in Tasker: you know what you want but don’t know how to build it yet… Now you can simply ask your new AI friend and it’ll get you going!

You can then go in the automations it generates and tinker them to your liking!

Think of this as a supercharged Taskernet where instead of having to look through a bunch of pre-made projects to find one you like, you can simply ASK it for the EXACT pre-made project you want!

Building Widgets With AIThe AI Helper knows exactly how Tasker’s v2 Widgets work and you can ask it to create the Widgets you want!

For example, you could ask it to

Create a widget that shows the top 10 posts in Tasker’s subreddit

and it would do it! It would call up the Reddit API, parse the results and list them in a home screen widget!

Again, this is also great to learn and get started! Ask the AI to build a widget for you and then edit the task, see how it was made and change anything you want about it!

Using any LLM InterfaceYou can even export a file with all the knowledge that Tasker’s AI assistant (System Instructions) has and then use that file in any LLM you want!

Could be great to use on your PC for example, or simply to use your preferred AI model!

Receive SharesTasker has a new Received Share event that allows you to receive a standard Android share from any app and then process it in Tasker however you like!

You could use it to automatically share a public Google Drive link from a file you have on your phone by automatically uploading it and copying its URL to your clipboard!

Or you could receive a URL from any app and shorten it for example.

7 New Calendar Actions and Calendar Changed EventThe new Calendar related actions in Tasker allow you to get and edit ALL calendar data on your device. You can get and edit:

  • Events
  • Reminders
  • Attendees

You can even use your system’s Calendar app to add or edit events!

You also get a new Calendar Changed Event that triggers every time the calendar data on your device changes, allowing you to do stuff in real time like updating widgets, reminders or anything you like really!

Change Device KeyboardAutomatically switch keyboards on your device. You could have a different keyboard for each app, or different keyboards at different times of day or places!

Widget v2 UpdatesYou can use your own font files in widgets for super customization!

You can now use circular progress bars and blur any image you want

New Tasker UI PreviewThe main complaints I always get about Tasker is about its UI, so I’ve started building a new one!
For now only the Task Edit screen is being worked on.
You can enable it in Tasker Preferences.

Here are a few examples:

WebUIThere’s also an HTTP API for Tasker editing so you can build web pages or make requests from any connected device to control the Tasker app itself from anywhere on your network!

Device Admin ActionsWith the incredible power of being your device’s owner, Tasker can now perform awesome actions like kill other apps, reboot your device, disable apps or even uninstall apps, all without root!

Get File/Folder PropertiesThis is a super powerful version of the List Files action that allows you to recursively list files/folders and many of their properties all in one go, allowing to filter and sort them as you wish!

Get Network Data UsageAllows you to get the data your phone used in any given time period!

Array CompareSupply it with 2 or more arrays, and you’ll get back all differences and similarities between them!

New App IconsColorThemedTasker now has some more modern looking icons in both color and themed versions!

Thanks to Christian for the icons!

Accessibility Services ManagementIn the recent years Android has been notorious for systematically “killing” apps in the background, leaving both users and developers frustrated.

Tasker 6.1 introduces a new feature called Keep Accessibility Running which aims to mitigate that by automatically restarting any service that has been stopped. And that’s not just for the Tasker Accessibility Service, but for all apps on your device!

Moreover, you now also have a Tasker action that allows you to stop or start any of these services at will!

Quick Setting Tile Improvements and AdditionsTasker now has much more flexible quick setting tiles, allowing you to directly set the tile’s labels and icons and also perform different tasks or actions on long and double click!

Check out this this example project that allows you to control your Wifi connection from a Quick Setting Tile.

My next goal will be to add more tiles to Tasker so that you can do even more with these!

Notification IconsYou can now use any kind of image for your notification icons! They can be local files, direct web URLs or even text! For example, you could have a weather forecast notification that shows you the temperature right on your status bar!

Flashlight BrightnessYou can now totally control the brightness of your phone’s flashlight with the Torch action! Make as dim or as bright as you want!

Progress DialogInstead of your longer tasks simply running in the background with no visual feedback, you can now show a dialog while they’re doing something!

You can use your custom icons as the progress animation or even use a progress bar if you know how long your task will take!

Convert Into TaskYou can now select multiple actions in a task and simply create a new task with them. Will be very handy for parts of tasks that can be re-used in other tasks, or for tasks that are too long and you want to split them out into subtasks!

Pick PhotosYou can now use the new Android 13 photo picker with Tasker!

Device Control With Locked DeviceUse your “Device Controls” even when your phone is locked! Can be very handy for quick tasks without always having to unlock your device!

Device Unlock Failed EventYou now have a new event that will trigger any time unlocking your device fails. You can run any task when that happens!

AutoInput 3.0 is out and with it comes a new action that will help you fully automate your device’s UI!

The HelperWhen you use the new AutoInput Actions v2 Tasker action, you’ll get access to a new Helper.

This helper will guide you through the process of setting up your UI automation actions.

For example, let’s say you want to automate opening an app and then clicking something in it. You’d use the helper to

  • add the Open App action
  • the helper would open the app for you and ask you if you want to add more actions
  • you’d then add the Click action where the helper would ask you where you want to click:
  • the helper would then click it for you so you’re sure that it works
  • after all actions are added the helper will take you back to Tasker where your action will be configured!

A Single Action For Each AutomationAs mentioned, you can add as many UI-automation actions in a single Tasker action as you want! The example above would consist of one single action instead of the 2 you’d normally get with AutoInput!

Super Fast RunningAutoInput now interacts with the UI even faster than before! It’ll go through all of the actions provided as fast as it can and can often be much faster that the legacy AutoInput action!
